Another Park Visited - Day 5 ~ Home

Today it was time to go home so we were up at 8:00 and ready to go by 8:50. We took all the bags down and put them in the car and then went for a walk through Disney Village and around the lake, stopping off at Sequoia Lodge

And Newport Bay Club. We then went into the Disney Store in the Village where Dad wanted to get a Disneyland Hotel pin and I wanted a Disneyland Park pin. They didn’t have what we wanted there so we made our way back to Disneyland Park as we knew that the photo shop there had the Disneyland Hotel pins. Dad got his but they didn’t have the one I wanted so I went across the road to the Emporium and got mine there.

This new sign had appeared overnight

Next it was back to the Village where we went to the New York Style sandwiches shop and got a Deli Club sandwich each to take away to eat on the drive back to the tunnel. Lunch sorted we went back to the hotel to drop our keys off - we had left a credit card swipe to take care of the bill, which was hanging on the door this morning - and we were back at the car by 10:30. We decided that as we had left earlier than expected we would stop off at Cite Europe on the way back and get some French bread and meats for tea for tonight.

There was a load of traffic on the way out, which the TomTom supposedly routed us around but I’m not sure we did any better as it took us up the ‘A roads’ rather than the motorway. We finally joined the A16 about 150 miles out of Calais and managed to pick up some speed. We stopped off at one of the rest areas on the way up where we ate our sandwiches and then went non-stop through to Cite Europe, arriving there at 2:45.

We went into Carrefour - the supermarket at Cite Europe - where we stocked up on French bread, rolls, pain au choclat, chocolate waffles, doughnuts, pastries, ham, cheese, Pringles, whisky and coffee pods and then left to find a service station to top up the air in the tyre which seemed to have suffered from the long journey again.

We were back at the tunnel terminal at 3:40 where we managed to book ourselves onto an earlier train - the 4:20 instead of the 4:50 so we just had time to nip in and get some duty frees before driving round to the boarding area, where we arrived just as boarding had begun.

The journey back was uneventful, we were off the train at 3:55 and home by 5:15 after a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

In conclusion I would say that we had a great time and, although we have nothing against the parks and there was nothing wrong with them, they just didn’t give us that ‘something’ that Orlando gives us so Paris isn’t top of our list to go back to. I’m still determined to experience all of the Disney parks around the world though so hopefully in the near future we’ll be able to get out to Hong Kong and Tokyo – and Shanghai once it opens.

Attention now turns to our cruise on the Disney Magic in June but for now
