Have booked to stay at the Cheyenne in November, haven't stayed there before.
Been to Sequioa Lodge and Newport Bay in the past, now having ideas of upgrading to the New York , but first need to know what the Cheyenne is really like, is it worth paying the extra to upgrade? have read on other web sites that the rooms are very small ,is this correct? anyone been there- got any comments?,? help- don't know what to do for the best ,

We stayed at the Cheyenne in 96, the rooms are not that big, there is a bunk bed and a double bed, there is a door that leads to the bathroom. There is a large chest of drawers with the Tv on and a convector heater and thats it.
I think I would upgrade if I was you. . . . |

I guess the rooms aren't that big, but we absolutely LOVED the cheyenne. The theming here is just superb - I've never stayed anywhere that carried the theming through so well.
We also found the staff to be very good, we had a few problems with a dinner reservation, and a broken toy, and they went out of their way to sort it out. Unless you need a swimming pool, I would recommend the Cheyenne - we really liked it. By the way - they don't have kettles etc in the room, but you can get them from reception, there is a £10ish deposit required, but the charge itself was minimal, maybe £2 for some tea and coffee. bev |

We have stayed in the Hotel New York and Newport Bay Club.
We have looked round the Santa Fe and Cheyenne. We felt that both these hotels were (i am going to get shot for this) a bit lower class for us. The Hotel New York was really nice. This Hotel houses the resturant for character breakfasts and there are usually characters walking around in reception. The reception is a lot bigger and more luxurious than the Newport Bay. And the fact that it has less rooms means checking in is a lot quicker. The outside theming is a bit strange but the inside is great. Also in winter the Skating rink is open, but not when it rains. I liked both hotels. The Newport Bay for its nautical theming (I love that), and the New York for its splendor and quieter pool. As you can see, a nice quiet day . |

I guess we must be common then , I have to agree the Santa Fe did nothing for me - I looked across the river from the Cheyenne and thought 'No thanks'. But as much as I would have loved to stay at the Newport Bay, finances wouldnt' allow it - and honestly, I had no complaints about the Cheyenne at all. In fact, I thought the feeling of the 'town' was very impressive. But, it was November, and most of the time we were walking around it was deserted, which added to the feeling of being out in the Wild West in a ghost town. All we needed was a bit of tumbleweed to blow past. They don't have character meals there, but they have cowboy Goofy in the lobby every evening. he was superb - he played games with the kids, did line-dancing, all sorts - I was impressed with him, and he was there for at least an hour maybe longer each night - even when there were no kids around. I went to the reception one evening quite late, and there was noone in the lobby, except for Goofy manning the reception desk! I had quite a surreal 'conversation' with him, and got him to sign Katie's birthday card. Bev |

Another vote for the Cheyenne. The kids absolutely adored it, and the theming. If you are travelling on your own or your children are older then I can see the advantages of some of the other hotels, but otherwise the Cheyenne was fantastic. Never felt out of place or had to modify out behaviour because it’s a hotel for young families. As far as the rooms go, how long are you staying there, we found it very different to Florida and spent very little time in our rooms, so had no problems with them at all. Also I found that because the Cheyenne is one of the smallest if not the smallest of the hotels it seemed very friendly and the kids soon knew the CM’s. One disadvantage is that it is one of the furthest away from the parks, but even that didn’t seem to bad and we opted to walk to the park in the morning, and get the bus back.

Smax's wife here. Afriend and family go to DLP each year, different hotels each time. When they went to Cheyenne they all dressed up as cowboys. Their two girls really loved it.
However our two love to go swimming in the evening. They would feel they had missed out without a pool. |
