special needs insurance
Hi Guys
I know this has been asked loads off times, but our computer has recently thrown a major wobbley and all info has been lost! We have also almost finished having an extention built for Stu(DS2) and all info from all our previous holidays seem to have disappeared into the one packing box that has dissappeared! Stu has major special needs with epilepsy, a Gastro tube as well as a few other bits and bobs too! Thank You Karen |

We get our insurance including DS2 who has intractable epilepsy through Norwich Union. A little more expensive but covers everything.

We always use Nationwide and have found they cover lots of pre-existing conditions that other companies charge extra for. You can find the number here nationwide

We have had cover for our DS (also epilepsy and CP) with Thomas Cook, Egg and Norwich Union. None of those charged us any extra premiums for PEMCs. It is better to call them as the online quoting systems are very inflexible when it comes to PEMCs, we were asked to call a screening line and talk to a nurse who then passed on the OK to the insurer who agreed the quote at normal rates. It only took a few questions and 5 minutes to do.

We have never had to pay anything extra in the past for PEMC's, but this year when we came to buy insurance for next years trip. The same company we have used for the past 3 trips said they require an extra £27.50 for our son's PEMC!. They started charging from march this year. So be very careful where you get insurance for the trips. I will probably look elsewhere in future instead of staying with this company. By the way we have NEVER made a claim on travel insurance, isn't it about time they did 'no claims bonuses '
