I'm not usually one to complain but as we had such a great stay at CBR in 2015, our stay at Riverside in 2016 unfortunately didn't live up to standards.

We were celebrating our honeymoon and were super excited to stay here, as this resort was so well recommended by fellow dibbers and others. We were located in Magnolia bend overlooking the river. Beautiful. The room was great, good disney standard.

I had bought some make up from the Sephora store in disney springs only to find the next day that the housekeeper had thrown it away or taken it. Very sad about that as it was a birthday gift from my new husband. But perhaps she had thrown it out by mistake :/ as we tipped every day.

The food court was close by, just over the bridge but on three days of our holiday the bridge was cut off and we were made to walk around. Again we tried to make the best of it. We're young fit and healthy and didn't mind the walk.

The food court itself was VERY, VERY busy no matter what time we went in there. Shame as the food was good. My husband queued up for 20 mins for a burger one afternoon. And one morning we had to wait for a table... :(

I think it was a busy time for the resort because I don't think we sat down once one a bus to anywhere. Again were young and fit and don't mind standing, but I wouldn't recommend it for others.

The buses were not only busy, but one two occasions were waited an hour at Epcot for a bus back to the resort. I have no idea what was going on but I certainly wouldn't stay here in September again-or at all.

Shame really as the place was nice. But had it's faults. Would definitely try POFQ though.

We stayed in Room 9707 a Royal Room in Parterre Place. We were on 2nd Floor (our 1st floor) and a corner room so had 2 windows. The decor is lovely, with some nice little touches, such as Aladdin's lamp taps, a flying carpet pattern on floor, princess portraits around the walls and the firework light up headboard. Despite 2 windows, we did find the room dark and had to have all the lights on when we were in the room. The windows have blinds and curtains and the curtains are really thick and block out all light. Air conditioning unit can be a little noisy at times. The room was quiet and didn't really get people walking past.

We were a short walk across the bridge to the main area and the South Depot for transport to the parks. The grounds are beautiful and the resort is so tranquil, despite being quite large. I felt very safe walking round at all times of day and night. The bus service was excellent and we never waited more than about 10 mins. At peak times there was a cast member at south depot and they were radioing in for extra buses if the queue built up.

The food court was excellent, with great choices. It does get busy though. The make your own pasta was delicious, loved the ice cream choices, the freshly made pizzas and good choices at breakfast. The cakes and pastries were really nice too and I did enjoy a cinnamon bun for breakfast.

The boat service to Disney Springs was excellent and a pleasant way to make the trip. As the bus depot at Disney Springs is now the far end from the boat dock, we tended to go by boat, walk through and return by bus.

I didn't really like the main pool area, it was quite small, noisy and very busy. We went at different times of day and struggled to get even 1 chair near the pool where we could keep an eye on the children. The quiet pool near our room was fantastic and my girls preferred it there too. It was never really busy, could get sun loungers in sun or shade at all times. A snack cart visited on a fairly regular basis. The only downside was there was no towel collect or drop there.

The laundry rooms are fantastic. We used the one right by our quiet pool,so very convenient. $3 for a washing machine which takes 34 mins and $3 for a tumble dryer that takes 1 hour. You can buy powder for $1 from a vending machine, but I took liquitabs from home. The machines have a huge capacity, probably double a wash at home.

I would definitely return to this resort and I can see why it's so popular. It is spread out though, so if you don't want to be too far from the food court etc then I would recommend upgrading to a preferred room or a Royal Room as location is guaranteed.

We were disappointed with this hotel, didn't like the fact that the majority of the grounds are overgrown and didn't like the food court, felt like a busy shopping centre food court, rather than a mid range disney hotel, not relaxing at all. We found the room to be dull and dreary and you couldn't get near a sunbed around the main pool that actually got some sun.

The buses were fine for us and we didn't have much of a wait when we used them. We did use one of the smaller pools nearer to our room, which was fine, staff are lovely and helpful, however we wouldn't go back to POR.

This was our first ever onsite hotel and so will always have a special place in our hearts. We had a Royal room which have an excellent location for both riversides facilities and a short walk along the river to French quarter so we loved the location.

Room- the royal room location was great, however the room itself felt very dark, it has nice touches such as the fireworks going off on the head board but I think they need to be lighten up the decor.

We used the quick service a few times and it had a good selection of options. Busses could be a bit hit and miss, riverside has 4 stops so depending on where you get on you could be standing or not get on at all. Lovely grounds in the areas that we saw. Personally if I went back to port Orleans I would stay in French quarter - it was smaller with everything close by and one bus stop! We even walked to French quarter a couple times to get the bus from there as it felt less busy than riverside

Fantastic resort!
I Loved Loved Loved every minute!
Myself and hubby stayed here in Nov/Dec 2014 for 21 nights. What a stunning hotel!
It is rather spaced out. The rooms on the map look far from the food court but there not. There are bridges and walk ways everywhere. and there are a few bus stops around the resort :- )
beautiful scenery
beautiful rooms
Fab transport
spotless

Beautiful resort. Although bigger that POFQ, it is much quieter and the pace seems slower. Well stocked shop and good food court with plenty of choice (and plenty of seats). Bus service was ok, but heard many other people complaining about it. Rooms have recently been decorated and are beautiful and of a good size (although suffer from the perennial disney problem of lack of storage). Booked last minute and standard view and was given room 8762 in magnolia bend which looked out on to the garden (and part of the room opposite). Magnolia bend is a great location for the east depot bus stop (although this is the last bus stop which means the chance of getting a seat is low) and is not too far from the food court. Boat to downtown disney is great and makes for a nice journey, but I did see a long queue in the evenings with people having to wait for the second boat before they could get on (with a long wait between boats). Would highly recommend this resort.

The hotel was very clean and had everything we could have hoped for. I would definitely stay here again if I was returning, and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

The only downside was the two double beds - our children are 14 and 9, so not an option for them to bunk in together, so I had the daughter whilst my son had to share with my husband. Not ideal but didn't ruin the stay.

The room is large enough for a fortnight's stay - three drawers for clothes, and a hanging rail in the bathroom sink area, with a large shelf across the top.

We had requested a fridge via fax, and this was extremely useful for the drinks we would accumulate from breakfast.

We were in a ground floor room in Magnolia Bend which was a great location, not far from the bridge across to the main area, and the East Depot (deepo!) bus stop was just across the car park - ideal.

We used the pool plenty - the water was warm, and we always found a lounger. Towels are available next to the pool so you don't have to bring your own, or those from your room. There is also a towel drop so you can leave them there afterwards. We liked that it stayed open until 11pm, so you could have a quick dip after a long day at the park.

The restaurant was good - we learnt not to go between 8.30 and 9am as tables were a little hard to come by - but at other times we were able to get seated without too much trouble.

Food was all very nice, and the staff very helpful with enquiries about QSDP. Only one gripe - they issue the refillable cups at the tills on your first day, so if you are queueing with your breakfast tray and the person in front of you wants to activate nine refillable cups for their party (as happened to me) it takes a while. Far better to have this at reception when you check in I would have thought?

Rooms were kept very clean. One day, after a lie-in, we mistakenly left our Do Not Disturb sign on our door all day after we'd gone out. On returning at 4pm, we realised our mistake, took the sign off the door, picked up our refillable cups from our room and went to the restaurant to get drinks each. We wandered through the shop and went back to our room, and it had been cleaned! How efficient - how did they know!

We didn't make use of the childrens activities by the pool, nor the campfire and films as we weren't in the hotel enough, and my kids are a little old for that, but it seemed well organised and enjoyed by those taking part.

Bus transport was good, didn't have to wait more than 20 minutes for a bus. Generally bigger queues for the boat to DTD though. We got it back one night, but going to DTD would have meant waiting for a second boat so we didn't do it.

All in all, a lovely hotel. Spotlessly clean, and everything you could have wanted.

We LOVED this hotel! We would most defiantly go back again. Originally we were supposed to stay in the art of animation resort but when we arrived realised it wasn't really for us, so we upgraded! The hotel itself is lovley, its clean and it is well presented! The entertainment is good to, in the day time there is loads of stuff going on by the main pool and in the evening there is entertainment in the bar/Restaurant! There are several other quite pools dotted around the hotel, which we made use of as we are an older family and the main pool has lots of kids! The only thing that could have been better is the lack of epcot buses! We had to wait 45 minuets for an epcot bus to arrive, in this time we saw many busses go to all the other parks!

I would Strongly recommend this Disney resort to all families! We were very impressed and enjoyed our stay here!

We arrived via Magical Express and when we pulled up outside the lobby we really did feel like we were home. This is the 2nd time we have stayed on the resort.

Check-in process was nice and easy - the cast member was very helpful and produced maps of the hotel and showed us the best bus stop to go to closest to us. We were given a Royal Room and we were so excited and it didn't fail to disappoint us!

The Room: Well it was stunning! Beautifully decorated with such attention to details (check out the taps by the sink). Our room was 9211 in Oak Manor. The only time we heard our neighbours was when they flushed the loo (they are super loud) but other than that we didn't hear a peep! We didn't have a working fridge (we read on here in advance that there were problems with the fridges so had a heads up) but we didn't find it a problem. We filled up an ice bucket, put that inside the faulty fridge and then put our drinks in that so it stayed cool! I was glad to see that the TV channels seemed to have expanded more for adults. Last time we pretty much just watched the Weather Channel but there are loads more channel options this time! Mousekeeping were brilliant as always - we always had plentiful towels and soaps (sometimes too many!)

Food Court: As with the time of year we went (end of July beginning of August) it could get very busy. I love the wide choice of food available but the criss-crossing of lines and juggling act of trays and avoiding small children is a bit of a challenge! The QSDP proved to be fantastic yet again. I would suggest a tactical approach to getting food with a different member of your party set to get different things (especially ice cream as this counter always took a long time!)

Bus Service: Couldn't fault it. In peak holiday times the max you will probably have to wait is 20 minutes but more often than not it comes quicker. The drivers really try and cram as many people on as possible to so a heads up on that. If you want to get a seat, get there early (and I suggest sitting near the back if its going to be busy that way you cant get glared at my parents of children who want their kids to have a seat!)

The resort itself is so pretty and immaculate. You can get a boat down the river (mind you the horn blares every 5 minutes pretty much so it isn't as peaceful as you may think!) to DDT and to POFQ. We haven't been in the main pool before but the quiet pool is nice (still fairly busy but again its that time of year!) We used the laundry facilities - very handy!

We love this resort so much and we can't wait to return (although we have booked for CBR next time but only as it was cheaper haha!

I have just rejoined the Dibb as we are staying at Animal Kingdom in 3 weeks time but felt it was good to review Port Orleans as we stayed there on our last visit.

We love d this hotel although sprawling and quite a walk to the food court, bar etc the grounds were lovely to walk through,I'd researched a little and found a nice block near a smaller, quieter pool and near a bus stop so I requested via e-mail before arrival and we got Magnolia block which we'd asked for. Adequate room for 4 relating to the time spent there. Loved the fact you could get a boat to Downtown Disney, sometimes we had to queue but not for long. Also great horse and carriage rides round the grounds and bike hire to explore. The films on the lawn were a great asset you could have a little picnic, drink whilst watching.

We had Disney dining plan which we used extensively at the hotel and although very busy the different stations were helpful and food was fine with lots of variety... Pasta station, pizza station, salads, hot food variety.Breakfast always good to fill up before a day in the parks.

Staff were fabulous (as always ) our maid was a star and made my 10 year old daughter, dolls, animals,Disney characters out of flannels,in fact we still have them!

I would really recommend this hotel it's easy access to most parks and a great venue, pools are great and lots of life guards. The only reason we are staying somewhere else is there are so many Disney hotels we thought we d like to try somewhere new

We had a lovely stay at teh POR. We were in Alligator Bayou. The grounds were beatuful & clean, the pool was small but the children enjoyed it. We had to go to the French Quarter to use the slides, which was a bit of a hike. There is a boat ride to Downtown, which we used once, but felt wasn't very exciting.

The QSDP was a little restrictive with only one place to eat, however it did have quite a few choices. It was a little confusing on what was included on the first day or two.

I missed the Hotel feeling in this resort, sometimes I could walk quite a way and not see a sole, which was a little disappointing, but not the end of the world. My hubby said it felt 'rural' and we didn't always need to go through the lobby (which was about 10 mins walk from room) when we used car or buses. This also proved a bit of a trek when the kids were tired and needed to walk back or they were in bed and we wanted to refill our drinks.

The room was clean & tidy, but a little small for 2 adults, an 8, 10 & 12 year old. The pull down bed was pretty, but not very big, so this won't be great when the youngest is bigger. The room ended up looking very messy because there was nowhere to store anything.

We did find that the maid service didn't always put the big throw back on the bed, they left it where we put it and the pull down bed wasn't made very neatly.

The girls had hair braiding done. The person doing it did a lovely job and they stayed in for a long time, however they were quite expensive.

We parked our hire car just a few mins away from the building which was handy.

I would definitely consider staying here again despite the things I mention. It was a lovely resort, there was a shop stocked with merchandise and supplies and the staff were extremely helpful, organising exchanges from MK for me.

All in all a lovely stay at a peaceful location.

This was our first time staying on-site and being a family of five (2 adults, DD14 DS9 DS3) we didnt really have much choice but to stay here as most properties cater for maximum of 4.
We were automatically allocated a ground floor 'preferred room' due to having a toddler with us but upon arrival, were told that there was a person missing from our booking and that our room was no longer available. Thankfully, I carry all my paperwork with me so I showed them the original booking and they couldnt apologise enough and endeavored to sort it immediately. We were given a 1st floor preferred room and told that we could have our original room the next day and that baggage services would move all our luggage for us. However, on arrival into the room, we were completely happy to stay put for the 10 days as the location was still excellent and the room itself was really nice. Yes, we had to travel up and down stairs with the pram but we didnt feel this was a big issue.
The room itself, despite reading reviews to the contrary, was spacious enough for 5 of us plus (lots of) luggage and a pram. There could probably have been more storage but we were happy enough with what we had. Decorated to a high standard and the little one loved the alligator bed. Bath and shower were nice, toiletries refreshed every day and towels replaced as needed. We only had the animal towels on our arrival but the housekeeper quite often posed our sons teddies and toys which he loved.
The resort itself was beautiful-very clean and a relaxing atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the shop was well stocked with everything you could possibly need on holiday.
We saw Yeehaw Bob a couple of times in the lounge and he is not to be missed! what a hoot! The drinks in the bar are a little pricey but you're on vacation, right?!
Busses were a bit of a drag if Im honest-big queues at times and standing room only in the mornings but there are plenty of taxis out front should you need.
The foodcourt was amazing-plenty of choice and lots available on the DDP. I can still taste those warm cinnamon rolls now...drool!
We still had several snack credits left at the end and used them to buy 'Goofy Candy Co' sweets to take home-fantastic!
Overall, we loved the resort and would highly recommend for everyone.

This was our first stay onsite, we are a family of 5, 2 adults 3 children age 10,9,4. We were in alligator bayou block 28. A ground floor room.

First impressions of the resort were great really quiet and really well themed, all staff were very friendly and the food court was great.

Our room was lovely, i was expecting the pull down bed to be small but it was a lovely size. I was aware of the lack of storgae so had brought some canvas hanging shelfs from tesco for 4 and that was plenty, cases all tucked inside one another and put next to ac unit. Room was clean on arrival and kept clean throughout our stay. I had requested extra bedding for ds as he is havin some night time wetting issues and that was no problem. The whole 2 weeks i only heard any neighbouring rooms once. There was a pool and laundry room just across from room,we were 2 minutes to the car and 5 minutes to the main building to refil mugs.

The resort has films on the lawn every night which was nice.

Location for parks was great,2 mins to dtd and epcot,10 for hs and bb, 15 to ak and mk

Wow Wow Wow... I loved this resort and so did my children. I stayed in a AB room, loved the decor and felt the size was fine for the 4 of us.

Our room was a good walk from the food court as this is a huge resort but the walk was nice and the place is kept so clean and pretty.

Pool areas are clean and plenty going on in Ole mans Island with loud music and a bar but there are other smaller quiter pools scattered about the resort.

The whole atmosphere around the hotel is outstanding. I loved the vintage feel to the hotel and the design is so beautiful. The grounds were always clean and litter free and the lake is gorgeous. The foyer was very different to the other parts of the hotel, which I didn't mind, it was just a tad strange!

The food court was great, amazing choice of food and the DDP was so good for my family. We ended up having 40 odd snacks left over so we used them to get sweets and other bits from the shop in the hotel (which is great by the way - they have everything you need and more) for gifts for friends! There were always plenty of tables no matter what time we went, and the food was always hot and fresh. The pizza delivery service is also a massive plus!

Our hotel room was adorable, I loved the whole wood design on the bed and floor. It was always spotless after the maid came in and she often left towels in Disney shapes for my little sister which was a nice touch. The only downside is the storage! This seems to be a problem in many Disney hotels - just be prepared to not have a lot of room for your clothes. But no way by any means did this make the room any less great. The TV had loads of channels and the fridge was really handy to store our refillable drink cups.

Our room was about a 5-10 minute walk from the food court, shop and foyer, which we didn't mind at all! The walk was always pleasant and the scenery is beautiful. If this does bother you then I'd suggest getting in contact with them and asking for a specific room. The bus's were great, we didn't have to wait long at all to get one. The boat to DTD/DS is a lovely touch but can be a longer wait. The horse and carriages are also a lovely touch and really add to the whole feel of the hotel. The restaurant in the hotel looked really nice but we didn't have time to go in there unfortunately! But it was nice when walking past to see live entertainment.

The small pool near our block was fantastic, always warm water and it is really nice and calm. We only went to the big pool once and it was fun and great for the children but can be busy, so it just depends in what you're looking for!

I LOVE this hotel and can't recommend it enough. It's the best out of the moderate hotels in my opinion. The staff were lovely and the hotel is beautiful! We're going to stay there again next Summer and I cant wait!

I have now stayed here twice, once with my Mum and once with my boyfriend, Mum and Dad. The resort itself is lovely; you hardly feel like you're in the middle of a massive Disney resort. It's so peaceful and laid back. We stayed in one of the Mansion buildings on the 1st floor. The rooms are clean and quite spacious, with two large beds. The theming isn't too over the top, but the little details are fun to discover throughout your stay.

The facilities are great...there is a large pool that can get very busy with kids and activities (so it gets quite loud). We always used one of the smaller pools for some peace and quiet, but it's good to have the choice between the two. The food area has a good choice for breakfast and dinner but can be a nightmare at peak times.

The Disney transportation is always great going to the parks BUT leaving the parks can be awful. I have never seen such a mega queue as the one from MK to POR. Even though the resort is one of the biggest, Disney don't put on as many buses as they should for it. The boat to DTD is a lovely extra and can be very relaxing after having a few drinks at Happy Hour in House of Blues!

Loved this resort! I stayed in room 1609 which was a corner room right next to a quiet pool and a short walk to the main bus depot and lobby/food court building - such a fab location, I would definitely recommend this room to others as well as request it myself if I were to stay again (fingers crossed!)

The room was always spotless, mousekeeping were great, toiletries and coffee were always replenished and I even got a couple of towel animals which were a great surprise to come home to after a long day at the parks.

I also thought the transportation options were great. I took many a boat to DTD! I have no fault with the bus service either - drivers were always very friendly and the buses themselves very clean unlike the London buses I'm used to! :P

Loved it so much we are going back next year! We arrived at POR and got checked in pretty much straight away as there was no queue. The staff on the desk were very friendly and gave us a room in line with our special requests - mansion room, upper floor, corner room. We were given room 8220 in Acadian House, it was lovely; very roomy for 2 and clean. We were nearest to the North Depot - the bus service was great, we couldn't fault it. The buses were never busy when they got to our stop (I think we were always the 2nd pick up and 2nd drop off). The buses came frequently, we never waited longer than 10 mins for a bus to turn up. We only used the quiet pool nearest our building but again, can't fault it. It was never busy (we usually headed to the pool for an hour at around 2pm then again at 8pm). The food court was nice but we never really sat in. Some days we would pick up some breakfast then eat it in our room, other times we ordered a pizza and ate that in the room too. Can't wait to go back!

This was our first stay in a WDW Hotel and we were not disappointed.
The room we had was in Oak Manor and was more than suitable for 2 adults and 2 kids, they have all been refurbished now and are lovely. Air con, Fridge, Hair dryer and an Iron and board included means you have most essentials in my opinion. The beds were very, very comfortable, rooms were cleaned (thoroughly) daily and the complimentary toiletaries were a little bonus. The Staff were always polite and friendly.
The grounds are stunning and although its a big hotel its not impossible to tour round, a walk to the French Quarter takes Five - Ten minutes for a different view of things.
The Main Pool always looked busy, so when we did go to the pool we used the smaller one, there are a few of these dotted about.
The Food Court was busy at times but if you time it right its more than suitable, with a decent choice. Just take your time and have a look round, we somehow missed the create your own salad window, which was a welcome change when we did use it. If you are on the DDP its even better.
There is a boat ride to DTD which takes about 20 minutes which we used a few times.
Each of the theme parks are within reasonable reach and seeing as you don't have to park and catch the boat or monorail, it actually saved time going to MK. The other parks were closer by and getting back was never a problem.
The only slight issues we had were
a) No balcony in the room, which we knew on booking and are not available in any moderate resort so I wouldn't mark it down on that, but just be prepared.
b) The transport, although Disney buses are everywhere and in plentiful supply, you can sometimes wait 30 - 40 minutes for the right one. To be honest at the Hotel most times, we hardly waited (longest being 40 minutes for a Typhoon Lagoon bus) to balance this there were a number if times we got to the stop and the right bus rolled up. So it can be hit and miss and they can get busy. We got round this somedays by allowing the first bus that turned up dictate which park we went to.
Overall a Superb Hotel which helped make our holiday special I would reccomend anyone staying here and we are looking to go back next Summer.

This was our first time here at Disney Port Orleans Riverside, what can I say but wow what a fab resort, we was in the Alligator Bayou block 18 room 16 corner room.

The view was nice but a few trees in the way but this did not bother us, the grounds were fab and was lovely walking around the grounds on my own a few times, the pool was just a minutes walk away from our room, we didn't go over to the main pool as this was busy.

Food court can be busy at times but if you time it just right it is almost empty, the shop was nice, had many looks around the store :-)

Would I stay here again YES I would if we did ever go to Orlando again this would be our first resort to pick.

This was a special family holiday so we wanted somewhere we would love - and this was a great choice! From the moment we arrived there it felt like home! The tired children were kept amused while we checked in and they loved the beads and stickers they were given. The staff were helpful and friendly and our rooms were lovely and clean. We stayed in Magnolia Terrace which was only a 5 min walk to the main pool, food court etc but far away enough not to hear a lot of noise. POR is a very peaceful and beautiful place. We all felt safe there and the kids adored the pool and the poolside entertainment which kept them amused on our 'chill' days. Yes the food court was a bit 'samey' but for us that was fine as it was all foods we like - if I could suggest adding baked beans to the breakfast menu then it would have been even better! lol We never waited more than 10 mins for a bus, jst luck I think but it was hassle free! We loved the boat ride to downtown disney ad went there every other day. Not in our budget to go back next year but hopefully 2014!

We stayed at PORR from the 27th May 2014 for 21 nights. After arriving a little later than planned due to ending up on the wrong road, we arrived at Disney Port Orleans Riverside Resort at 1630. We were directed by gate security to the front entrance. You got the sense than this was going to be a lovely resort; it was very green, and spotless. At the entrance was a cast member with a big Mickey glove waving at the children which I thought was a nice touch.
Upon entering the lobby the check in desks were to the right hand side and Fultons General Store was to the left, more on that later. There was work going on in the Lobby area however it was very well screened and it was hardly noticeable. Check in was a breeze and the Cast member gave us 2 rooms together in Alligator Bayou, Building 16.
Though it was classed as a standard room it was a 30 second walk to the quite pool and looked out onto more greenery. The room had 2 double beds, 2 sinks, and a fold down bed that made into a seat, bath and shower. There was also an ironing board, room safe, fridge and coffee maker. Again the theme was great with mock wood for the bed and the carpet was made to look like floorboards. There was not a great amount of space for clothing, but if you just have shorts and t shirts there is enough if you are careful. There are hangers to the right of the sink area.
The quite pool was idea and there were plenty of sun loungers available. It was shallow and deep and was a decent size and the water was never cold. Next to the quite pool was a laundry area with washing machines and tumble driers which were very handy. Soap and softener was also available from this room. There were also shows and toilets just next to the quite pool as well. It was open all the time and was not lifeguarded.
The walk to Boatwrights dining hall was about 8 minutes but it was a lovely walk, with trees either side and crossing little bridges over ponds. I always looked forward to seeing Froggy as we named him on one such pool.
The dining experience was lovely, we had the QSPD which had plenty of choice from the various food stations and the portions were large! A good selection of bottled drinks or the soda dispenser using the refillable mugs. There was always a seat available and waited no more than 8 minutes in a food queue.
On an evening there were cast members who would have Nintendo Wii in the childrens section and played with them while the adults eat which was a nice touch.
Transportation to the various parks was very smooth and never had a long wait for a bus. There was also a boat ride to Down Town Disney which took about 30 minutes and made a nice change to the bus.
The main pool was one we only went to once, it had a flume and play area, but we preferred the quite pool as, it was not as busy and less of a walk.
Fultons general store for me was such a great shop, one of the best I have been to, and I am not too sure why, it had a great atmosphere, it sold everything you wanted or could need, clothing, gifts, sweets, ice-cream, even cherry cigars! If you could think if it, this place had it.
In all a wonderful resort, which I cant fault. Which is a problem when wanting to book again, as I just have to go back! I would like to see other resorts, but I would miss PORR. It is a good as they say and well worth a visit, even if you are not staying. www.portorleans.org has a wealth of info too.

Great hotel but you need a good location. We stayed in alligator bayou block 5 and it was perfect. Follow the unofficial website to check if any refurbishments are underway and then you know which blocks are best to have and avoid. Boat ride to Dtd a real bonus. Never queued for th QSR or struggled to get sun beds. Busses very reliable too. Would go back but prefer to try new places.

First time to Disney and we wasnt disapointed. You may find cheaper hotels outside of disney but we now know why so many people return to POR. We requested one of the newly refurbished rooms (which we got). We couldnt pick one thing from POR that disapointed us the whole area was peacefull, clean and provided with stunning landscapes everywhere we looked. Staff were helpful even guests were helpful and knew when a new couple arrived to disney and helped us out. we were worried about getting to the parks but getting the bus from POR was easy and not long at all also the ferry boats to and from was a pleasnt way of resting your tired feet. Food was another worry but they had plenty of varity and options, we had booked a few reservations in the parks.

I recomend that everyone takes advantage of the boat hire at POR it was nice to take a boat out and up to downtown disney at a nice pace.

When we booked our holiday we said that we had to book a hotel in disney even if we could find cheaper for the first time but after staying here we want to go back again and again, it might be expensive if you compare but the service you get is first class and 5 star at the POR and I suspect it might be the same at other hotels but I assure you, you wont be dissapointed with POR

We stayed here as as family of four for two weeks. Our room was in Oak Manor and to be honest we were a little dissapointed with the size of the room and the size of the beds. There was no way we could unpack properly as there just wasn't the space so living out of our suitcases for two weeks wasn't much fun, strangly we had more drawers and wardrobe space on our cruise!
Other than that the rest of the hotel was gorgeous, the grounds are amazing, and the kids play area and the pools are faultless. We had many meals in the food court on the QS dining plan and managed to have a good variety of meals. We were less impressed with the table service meal which we found overpriced for very bland food.
The transport system worked well for us and we never waited more than 20 minutes. One thing to note is that when we there the service to Downtown Disney didn't start until 10am which meant that when we wanted to get to the bus depot for going outside of disney we had to make our own arrangements.
We would stay here again as the facilities are really good, we enjoyed the outside movies in the evening and found the shop to be well stocked.

We stayed here for 2 weeks, I phoned to try an get a room in Magnolia or Arcadia. On arrival it turned out that they were entirely full but instead we got upgraded to a river view in Oak Manor. It was very close to the main lobby and we could easily go between South or East depot. On arrivng in our room, we were very happy with it. Beds are very good and according to one of the staff in one of the parks, they are the same mattresses in the deluxe hotels. We left tip everyday and with a thank you note and once we got a note back too. I kept all our little towel animals on the windowsill including 3 birds, a moose and a turtle. Our next door neighbour had swans which I would have liked, but hey ho. Staff were very helpful and conceige couldnt do enough for you. Would stay again and loved every minute of it.

i thought this hotel was very nice.My family loved it and they were so tired when they got to the hotel room they fell straight asleep and they always said how good the pool area was.The hotel was very posh and in good condition and everyone was always eating as a family and not in diffrent places.the child friendliness was good and the value for money was very good and cheap. The location to the disney attractions was close enough to the hotel and we were always the first ones to get to the rides and thats because we always got up at a very early time in the morning. The overall impression of the hotel is very good.

Myself and my fiance have just returned from Port Orleans Riverside and found it to overall be a wonderful experience.
We were in Room 8408 in Acadian House

Highs -
Beautiful, picturesque location
Very Romantic
No more than 10 minute bus ride from any Disney Park
Very Good table service restaurant - Boatwrights
Very clean and tidy
Big Pool
Good laundry facilities
Friendly, helpful staff
Yehaw Bob in the bar was fantastic at night
Food Court was great with a good selection of quick service meals

Lows -
Biggest low of the resort is the transportation system. POR always had the longest queues and yet other resorts were seeing 3/4 buses arrive within the time that we'd only had 1.

We were quite far from the food court which wasn't a problem most of the time but meant that we never really used our refillable mugs cause we couldn't be bothered walking down there.

The highs of the resort massively outweigh the lows in my view. I would be back there in a shot if I could!

We have stayed at this hotel twice now (2010/2011) and have already booked our return for September 2012!
This resort has great amenities, a wonderful friendly atmosphere and lovely food options.
The boats going to other resorts and Downtown Disney make a lovely trip and the location is brilliant for us, we really couldn't fault this resort!

We personally would stay here over and over and over again and cannot wait for our return!

We've been fortunate to have stayed at POR twice now, the first being our Honeymoon in Sept 2009 where we stayed for 21 nights.
2009-
This was the first time we'd stayed at POR and we loved the place! We'd previously been to ASM twice and fancied a change to a resort with a little more relaxed theme and a more adult athmospere. Eveything about it ticked all the boxes for us. Nice quiet pools, subtle background music, relaxing bar and restuarant. We stayed in Parterre Place for this trip and whilst it was the last building on the plot we never felt out of it and the walk was not far at all - well done Disney! Having the option of either the Disney bus or the boat for trips to DTD was such an attraction for us - and used a lot! So relaxing catching the breeze and waving at all who passed (or would wave back).
2011 -
Magnolia Terrace was out chosen location for last years trip. We'd had a good walk about the resort in 2009 and decided that we really liked the look of this building. I have calways found Disney very hgelpful when it comes to trying to get a specific building and room and an email or phone call about 5 days before you are due to stay can help no end when it comes to room allocation.
The staff at POR have always been so helpful and assitied with my many queries with ease.
The pool nearest to use was closed for a refurb buit as others pools are always nearby it never caused us any issues.
2013 -
Oh yes we are gonig back again!

WOW! What a lovely, lovely resort! To say I was impressed is an understatement.
Very friendly staff, who interacted really well with my kids. Clean, spacious rooms. The resort was spotless - not one piece of litter anywhere.
We were located in Parterre Place - right next to a quiet pool and a short stroll to the main pool and lobby.
Food was OK - although pancakes every morning became a little tedious - was a better selection including waffles, yoghurts, fruit and pastries - but for some reason always had the pancakes!
In the evening they show a film on the grass - brilliant for all ages - you have a choice of two - the other being a short stroll (or boat ride) to the french quarter.
15-20 mins on the boat to DTD - Really relaxing and enjoyable!
There is nothing I could fault at this resort - it really made our holiday special!

Beautiful hotel, very friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. Food court ok but I like my food piping hot and by the time you had gone to the different counters to get your food it had cooled significantly. Buses ok, but preferred to use the car down to personal choice though. Reception staff and concierge wonderful. Grounds were so beautiful that when looking through my photos, my relatives thought we had gone out for the day and didn't believe it was the hotel grounds. Would go again in a heartbeat.

We loved this hotel and would definitely stay there again. The bus service wasn't great, however we were very impressed overall. We had a room in Magnolia Bend and we liked the location as it was in close proximity to the 'quiet' pool and a gentle stroll to the main pool and food court areas. The food court was lovely too.

We had an amazing time at POR. The food court was fantastic, perfect for us who like eating at the hotel when we get back from long park days. We loved the rooms - we had 2 ajoining rooms close to the West bus stop which was the first on the pick up route so we always got seats on the bus.

Mousekeeping did a stellar job, left us a few towel animals too!

Just home 3 days ago and what can I say, what a fab time we had, we stayed 3 weeks May into June From the minute we walked into the reception area to check in I knew we had made a good choice, but when we went round to our building to find our room, our 1st impression were confirmed. Beautiful grounds, room clean and spacious. We were in Arcadian house, less than a minute walk to the quiet pool and not more than three to the feature pool. A 5 minute walk to the main building, which was fine as it felt like you were in different world with the way the grounds were set out, an enjoyable walk over the bridges.
Staff were always helpful, a nice Austrailian guy checked us in, very chatty and gave us good direction to help find our way around. Any time we need to ask a question, we were always helped out.
We used the queit pool as we were just to adults, it sometimes seemed like our private pool, the only real time it was busy was memorial weekend, when it was also very noisy for short periods of time, towels supplied too.
Disney transport great as usual 10 minutes longest wait for a bus, we used all the transport, boatto DTD and monorail from epcot to MK also the ferry from transportation to MK, never long to wait.
QSDP, great, more than enough to eat, used it in all different places, SSR, CBR, DTD, AK, MK, Epcot, Poly, DHS, POFQ and of course POR. Never dissappointed.
So already pricing for next year along with the QSDP as we do not like to be ruled by having times fixed when to be places.
Would highly recommend, our best choice of Disney accomodation, not saying the rest were not nice, just not as godd as POR :-)

We've been home a week and I'm feeling very 'homesick' for Riverside! This was our first visit to Florida (2 grandparents, 1 brother, my husband and I and our 2 daughters, age 9 and 5). We stayed in Aligator Bayou 39 and have had a wonderful two weeks. Our room we felt was perfectly located - the main pool was 5 minute walk away and the reception/dining area was just beyond that - 7 minutes tops if we timed it. We had a 'quiet' pool right next to our building which was excellent for cooling off without having to worry about watching where the girls were although it wasn't particularly 'quiet' at times! The rooms were lovely - spacious, clean, plenty of storage space. We found the beds comfortable but very high and our 5 year old preferred to sleep on the trundle bed on the floor. The maid did an excellent job at looking after us, especially our room which was particularly messy, and the girls loved coming back to see how she'd set out all their cuddlies (which grew in number daily!). We received two towel animals and was very excited about these! We had the dining plan included in our holiday and found this very easy to use after the first couple of goes. The foodcourt at Riverside is excellent - with a wide range on offer - we certainly couldn't finish off the portion sizes! I'm certainly going to miss the pasta and salads which are made to order. The concierge and reception service we found very helpful when we needed them, as were the bellboy service (for calling taxis etc and giving us tips on how to get places). We were very impressed with the Disney bus service - I saw reviews before going about people waiting a long time for buses but we didn't have a problem. Twice we waited longer than the expected 15 minutes but the majority of times it was shorter than 15 minutes. We were there for Memorial Day which was VERY busy and still we had no problems. When we stayed late to watch fireworks, etc, and expected to have a long wait for buses, we found that although Riverside queue did look the longest, we were always on the second bus arriving so not really a problem either. This really goes for the boat to DTD as well - takes a little longer journey than the bus but very pleasant ride and if you get a driver who 'gives you the tour' on the way, its very enjoyable listening about the wildlife, etc. Our only problem now is how soon can we afford to go back - we think we've set our standard high so we don't want to do anything other than staying in Disney - at Riverside - so cheaper Florida holidays are out for us - so its saving, saving, saving for us... If you're going, have a wonderful time - I'm sure you will - its amazing!

Wow what a fab place Port Orleans Riverside is... spotless, calm and the staff friendly and work so hard.
From the miute we stepped foot into the reception everything was faultless, quick checkin, great staff and good directions to our room..
We stayed in Magnolia mansions, and wow what a building, the walk to the main area is about 5 mins, but a beautiful walk, we had a wonderful large room, it was spotless and the mousekeeping supplied us with many many towel animals throughtout our 2 week stay... she even made my daughter a birthday towel cake.
Disney transport was quick and easy, never had to wait more then 5 mins for a bus.. we had a bus stop about 1 min walk from our building.
The food court was lovely, we all loved the create your own pasta in the evenings and the create your own omelete at b'fast.
We will be back again.

I've stayed here several times, the latest in 2011 and it's always the same, very friendly, very clean, good food choice, nice food court, lovely friendly bar. The rest of my family prefer the Magnolia Mansions because they are smart to look at and in the open next to the lake but I prefer Alligator Bayou because it's shady and so a bit cooler. My dad always worried about mosquitos amongst all that vegetation but we never got bitten once! Quite a long walk to the food court but, on the other hand, a lovely walk in the early morning. The only complaint I have - and take note, if you're British - is that, not only do they not provide teabags and a kettle in the room (only coffee and a coffee maker) but they can't provide them even if you ask - we tried to ask housekeeping for tea and just got sent more coffee! Take your own teabags.

This was our first stay in a Disney hotel and it didn't disappoint! We stayed in mansion building 90 on Magnolia Bend and the room was spacious, clean and tidy. Although we were the other side of the river to the reception and the food court, it was a pleasant walk accross the bridge and didn't take long. We used the quiet pool closest to our building but it was nice to have the option of about 7 different pools on the resort. The boat to DTD was lovely and the buses to all the parks were frequent and got us to the parks so quickly.

Would defenitely recommend POR to anyone and would like to return one day.

We have always stayed at Pop Century in the past but booked Port Orleans Riverside so that we could benefit from free Disney Dining Plan. It was easy to find from the airport in our hire car. However, when we arrived and checked into our room it was really dirty. There was dust everywhere - in the light fittings, on the paintwork/skirting boards. There were 'stains' all over the shower curtain. It took a while to sort out a new room as we initially got some unhelpful staff but eventually we spoke to Tommy, the Duty Housekeeping Manager, and he organised a new room for us.

So, after a not so great start, our impression of the resort wasn't great but we soon learned to love it. The rooms are slightly bigger than those at the value resort but there is still a real shortage of clothes storage space in the room. Not many drawers in the cabinets for a family of 4 staying for 2 weeks.

The food court had a great selection of food, although the staff weren't always very cheerful. The quiet pool was wonderful and the main pool on the island was great for the kids - with the slides and everything! Got quite busy at times.

The laundry was great and I never had to wait for a washer or dryer - there were plenty of machines.

The resort seemed very peaceful compared to POP - we stayed in Mansion Buildings - Oak Manor - room 9413. It was lovely and peaceful there and we overlooked the river and the fountains. Our room was a canny walk from the food court, but this didn't bother us as we only visited the food court for breakfast, other than a few late dinners and that tended to be on our way out or on our way home so we just drove the car round.

We would definitely stay there again if it meant we would benefit from DDP and I would recommend it, but I didn't feel there was much difference between the value resorts and this moderate resort.

We stayed here in October 2010 with 9 of us staying in 3 rooms. We faxed and requested Alligator Bayou Building 18 a few days before arriving and were were all accommodated a few doors from each other. This was the 1st time that we stayed at a Disney resort in WDW, having previously stayed in Hotel New York in DLP and we weren't disappointed. Our room was clean, although in much need of updating which I believe will be happening in 2011. Mousekeeping were great although we did leave mousekeeping envelopes every day with our tip. The location of Building 18 was convenient for the buses, swimming pool, restaurants, shops and reception. The grounds are idylic, clean and well maintained and we thoroughly enjoyed the boat trip to DTD and POFQ. The main pool area was amazing and had something for everyone in our group (Ages 4 - 62). The pool was well staffed and clean. There is a pool bar nearby and they have free bingo on some afternoons. My daughter won and chose an Eeyore soft toy ($11.99) and my son won and chose an electronic game (20) - and it was free!

The main food court has great choice for all the family and the staff hold fun activities for the kids in the evenings - hula hooping, marching bands, cookie decorating etc. My kids loved it and we could have 30 mins of peace & quiet.

Even without the Disney theme parks on the doorstep, this hotel has plenty to do if you would like a change from the hustle & bustle of the parks.

This was our first stay at POR and we chose it mainly because of the numerous good reviews we've read. Can honestly say that this resort's good reputation is totally justified. We were located at Parterre Place in Magnolia Bend Mansions and this suited us fine. We had a quiet pool nearby and it was not too far a walk for the food court & bus stops etc. We used the boat to get to DTD in the evenings as it actually ran more frequently than the buses and was a lovely leisurely journey.
This was also the first time we'd used the Dining Plan - we got 1 Quick Service & 1 Table Service meal each day plus a snack and found this to be more than adequate for us - we only ate on site at POR for breakfast but found the food court to have a really good selection.
This is a really lovely resort with a laid back atmosphere and beautiful surroundings - would definately recommend and would stay there again...

Have just got back from 3 wonderful weeks here. It truly is gorgeous. Grounds are amazing, water all around you on lakes, pools and the river make it all so picturesque. DDP was a real added bonus, we couldn't eat all the food and took loads of snacks from the shop home with us. Rest. is bril. pasta, salads, sandwiches, soup, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, chicken, beef. I could go on but it was all cooked fresh and was very tasty. The bakery was also lovely, fresh croissants, bagels, cookies etc. Boat to DTD was really nice to get instead of buses, but the buses were great and never had to wait to long. Room was average I would say apart from the fact that u do get 2 sinks and safe deposit box was free, which was good. Swimming pool was great and there were other quiet pools to choose from if you couldn't stand listening to the same old music time after time. (after 3 weeks we were wishing they could change it a bit, or maybe not have it on all the time). Would stay here again in a flash. Fab.

We have stayed here 2 it was that good! Love the little towel animal, there extreamly cute. Only a couple of minutes to get to the pool and the bar! You can also easily get to DTD quickly on the boat ride. It doesn't take to long to get to the parks as well! Lots of room in our room so an excellent hotel!

This was our second stay at Riverside and it was as beautiful as we remembered. The setting is just stunning and so relaxing, perfect for that away from it all holiday feeling.

We were placed in Acadian House this time and rooms were clean and comfortable but this building is a very long way from the main resort building and pool. This location was not ideal for us and did mean a lot of extra walking. We were also about as far as it is possible to be from a bus stop so getting around was difficult. We found the bus service very poor, we regularly had long waits for buses from our stop as buses arrived already full from French Quarter and the other stops. Some buses were not wheelchair accessible. Returning from the parks at night was particularly bad and this put a downer on our holiday. Part way through our stay we got a hire car and this made a world of difference. I would probably not consider this resort again without a car or would be very careful with a room request for a location closer to the amenities.

Apart from that the resort was perfect, the pools are beautiful, rooms are comfortable and well appointed and the food court has some great QS food. Staff were all courteous and friendly. Mousekeeping was great, our rooms were kept spotless and we had towel animals left for us almost daily.

We loved being able to take the boat to DTD, so convenient and it was great to enjoy the company of Bob in the bar a few evenings. POR is still in our top 3 resorts and we hope to visit again.

Writing this review from our room in Port Orleans Riverside. I can not fault this hotel it is wonderfull. We were allocated a room in the hotel only a few minutes walk away from the main building. The hotel is very clean and the grounds are amazing. So far (we are 1 week into our 2 weeks) we have had no problems with the buses into the parks never having to wait more than a few minutes. The staff are very helpfull and you can hire boats and bikes to go round the grounds of the hotel there is also horse drawn carriges in the evening. All in all very good value for money.

We absolutely loved this hotel! Fantastic theming, cracking foodcourt (the create-your-own omelettes for breakfast, and create-your-own pasta for lunch were lovely!), clean rooms, and entertainment (Bob 'Hows my hair?' Jackson - brilliant!) made this our best Disney holiday to date. Can't wait to go back next year (2012).

The boat trip to DTD is a lovely, relaxing way to start an evening!

We have stayed here 3 times now. Twice in the Magnolia Bend area and once in Alligator Bayou. The rooms are basically the same, except Alligator rooms feel a bit more rustic, and the outside areas feel more wild. The only problem we found was we were in the furthest building from the food court, so was a long walk in the mornings.

We never used the main pool, just the quiet ones, which have never been busy. Is lovely to go for a swim late at night, feel like your own private pool!

Having the option to go by boat to DTD is great, however, it takes a good 15 mins, and also picks up at French Quarter so they don't fill the boat full from Riverside. We had to wait for the 3rd boat last time we did it.

Food court has a good selection, with the make your own salad and pasta my favourite.

We will continue to visit this resort as we love it!

We stayed in the resort 28 Nov to 12 December for the first time and wondered why we didnt stay here before. The different settings for the bayou and Manor Houses was so lovely, the grounds were very well kept, everything was so clean and tidy. We used the boat to DTD which was lovely (although the seating was a bit hard and cold on the bottom!). I cant comment on its child friendliness because we didnt have any with us. Our only downside was the transport to the parks, we waited 25mins for an Epcot bus and 4 DHS buses arrived in that time and 25 mins for a MK bus and found it much the same when returning from the parks. Overall, a fab resort and would definitely visit again.

We were so impressed by the Riverside in the September that we went back again for Christmas. The hotel is just great for relaxing or a quite walk around the meandering foot paths. The food court was typical Disney but well worth visiting, althrough it did get busy and a little noisy at main dining times.
The bus service was as good as one could expect, however it did appear that we were always waiting longer than some of the other hotels for a bus. Through out the stay I can remember very few incidences when you actually got a seat.
The boat service to DTD was great, and there was also boats which could be hired at a very expensive rate.
The hotel has all the amenities including Internet connectivity, with good pools.

Hubby and I stayed in POR with our (then) 11 month old daughter. We had a lovely stay and the food court had lots of choice. The bus service was good and it was handy being able to catch the boat to DTD. Our room was clean and a good size. Would stay here again.

The second time we have stayed here (the first was 2008 and we liked it so much we have also booked to stay here in 2010) This is by far our favourite WDW resort, and for us, it even out-weighs some of the deluxe resorts in terms of theming and amenities. We requested room 9066 in Oak Manor, (as we had in 2008) but unfortunately that was taken, so we were given a room 6 doors away. Unfortunately the room next door to us must have housed a generator or something, as we got hardly any sleep on our first night due to the noise. After mentioning this in the lobby the next morning, they willingly changed our room immediately, and upgraded us to a river view room - they couldnt have been any more apologetic. The rooms are a good size, and it is such a bonus to have a fridge and coffee machine in the room - both of which were used alot! The rooms were always superbly cleaned and stocked up with soaps, towels etc everyday. We rang to request more coat hangers, which were delivered to the door within half an hour. We were right next to our "own" quiet pool which was lovely as there was never more than a couple of people in it, and we were only a 5 minute walk away from the Restaurant/lobby, and a 15minute walk from the French Quarter. We also used the South Depot bus stop rather than the Oak Manor bus stop, and we found transportation to be more or less faultless. We never used a bus to get to Downtown Disney, as we love the boat so much. It does take longer than a bus, but the tranquil trip down the Sassagoula River is definitely worth it! It never took us more than 20 minutes to get to a Park either, even with roadworks right outside the resort. We also had the advantge of being able to use a "side entrance" to the Magic Kingdom parking lot due to our location, meaning we skipped the lines at the main MK vehicle entrance.
The food court is huge, with loads of choices for breakfast and dinner, with lots of scenic views from the windows and a working waterwheel.
There is great entertainment on offer too with a Piano bar just next door to the foodcourt, along with a sit-down restaurant. The shop is big for a hotel gift shop, which is also an added bonus.

As was said in our last review for ort Orleans (which has been replaced with this review) we reccommend this hotel to anyone of any age - we have already booked to stay here again in 2010.

I must admit the Port Orleans Riverside was like heaven, there is not one thing i could moan about. We stayed in the Acadian house and the directions given to me by the front desk made it easy to find.

Being a bit of a fussy eater i found the food court to have very good choices, the bus and boat services were first class. The rooms were kept in 1st class condition, especially loved the towel animals.

It was such a welcome site to find the grounds lush and green with lots of squirrels and rabbits running about. I didn't feel that it was too big to walk round as i had been expecting.

I would recommend POR to anyone.

we really enjoyed our stay here, the rooms were nice, very clean, and the whole resort very well maintained. It is however quite spread out and although we were not as far away from the main area it was still quite a trek to the food court and pool. The food court was also ridiculously busy from about 7.30am onwards. Overall though we would definatly stay again

Stayed here September 09 and had the best holiday EVER! the resort is suburb, can not fault anything!

The food court is huge with a good selection of grub and the other ammenities such as the gift shop, arcade were also amazing. We enjoyed the bar and the waiters there were so friendly as were most staff members we came across.

We didnt drive so relied on the buses which were great. When we did need a cab they called one for us which we thought was a nice touch.

One of the best things about it is the boat to DTD, we never once got the bus because the boat journey is really nice and peaceful. Most of the drivers are really chatty and tell you about the surrounding areas as you pass them.

I can not put into words how brilliant this hotel is. We are going back for our honeymoon Sept 2011 so hopefully will be just as excellent if not better!

Overall, a good hotel. Watch out for the room you are given though.

The stay was tarnished though with a disagreement about our room. Although we were told by our travel agent that there were only riverview rooms (at an extra cost), we arrived to find that we were facing a pool. Not quite the scenic river view we had hoped for (and all the river view rooms were nearer the main hotel building). After much debate, it turns out that a pool view falls under the same category as river view, which is disappointing of Disney - being told one thing and then tweaking this to suit their own interpretation.

The vending machines were not 100% operational at times, which was annoying.

Apart from that, it was good. When i locked my keys in my case with a padlock on - D'uh! - the maintenance attendant was round very quickly, impressive given the size of this hotel. Standards of what you would expect from a Disney hotel, but next time, going back to an All-stars hotel as we are missing the Disney Dining by a week!

We stayed here for our first visit to disney for 3 weeks. The grounds are beautiful and very peaceful. Our children preferred the smaller quieter pools to the main one. Our room was very clean and included a small fridge, coffee maker, safe and TV. The CM's were very friendly. The food court is very busy for breakfast and noisy. We would recommend this resort.

I really can't say enough about how much I love this resort! both of the Port Orleans resorts are my favourite. The theming and quality of accommodation are great. The rooms are tastefully designed in the Orleans theme and the surrounding areas are beautiful. Housekeeping has always being great and thorough with no problems.

The bus service is great, very regular - you are close to everything, especially Downtown Disney where a free boat ride is available throughout the day and night.

The resort is big but everything is just around the corner, with several smaller pools and bus stops around the resort your never a more than a few minutes away. I would highly recommend this resort to anybody!

The hotel looks very nice, and it is, the rooms are clean and nice design, the location is very good, the eateries leave a bit to be desired though. Riverside is much better then French Quarter, which seems more populated by more noisy kids than usual. It was clear that since FQ only had one pool, there was an overspill into Riverside.

This was my first experience of a Disney hotel and I loved it! The scenery and theming is beautiful, and walking to and from the room was a lovely experience. The rooms I would say are a little cramped for a family of five (2 adults and 3 teenagers) but might be less so with smaller children. The pool was nice with what looked like fun waterslides and stuff for children. The foodcourt at the hotel was excellent with a lot of choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner (burgers, pizza, pasta, carvery, desserts, sandwiches among others) and the gift shop is well stocked with a variety of merchandise. The only downsides I would say is that the walks to and from the main 'hub' and the rooms can be quite a trek (especially for refilling mugs etc.)

We loved this hotel.
Clean, very pleasant surroundings, excellent maid service, food in the food court was good (especially the Cheesecake! ... nom nom! ).The refillable cups are an absolute must, especially with children, though I think that they are a must in every Disney hotel. Our DD found great amusement in mixing her drinks! Cherry Coke with Root Beer, yum apparently?!
The taxi boats to Downtown Disney are a nice touch, our girls loved them. They also loved the Disney buses, they are a BIG part of our holiday...bit of an adventure, getting to where you're going! Hiring a boat on the river is a great idea,as is the bike rides, though it was far too hot for us to be doing anything exhausting! The grounds of the hotel are very shady,so it wasn't a struggle walking up to the reception in the heat.
The man on the piano in the evening in the bar was brilliant, involving the kids all the time. We all just sat there singing along. Brilliant.
We all loved the pools,we were in Acadian House and had a pool right by us which was always empty so we could just play!
We did have some things that we didn't like, though it really didn't spoil our holiday at all, just personal preference. The things that we didn't like were the Restaurant,Boatwrights,we didn't like it there at all,but again, that goes on personal preference,we just didn't want anything on the menu. Also didn't really find the hotel to be very child friendly, nothing to do with the staff, just that it is very quiet (not that we have tear-away children). We found ourselves telling them to shhhh quite often. We stayed in Disney All Star Music and that was excellent for children, always something going on for them. The staff were sometimes a bit grumpy in Riverside and tried charging me for the cup to put hot water in to warm a bottle up! Needless to say,I politely told them that I wasn't paying for it. Also we had a mix up with our cases, took 2 hours to get them, after bringing 2 different peoples cases, with totally different names to ours then he still wanted tipping! He ended up walking away, wishing us a happy life?!
These are not bad things to put anyone off at all because we are actually going back there this year so it obviously wasn't that bad. All in all,I would say try this hotel if you have older kids

Fantastic resort.

If you are after a more laid back Disney holiday, this is the place. Resort grounds are big, beautiful and very quiet.

Food court was very nice, and was never too busy. Lots of choice!

Another highlight was the bar area, with the evening entertainment!

Definately recommend this hotel / resort.

This was our first experience of staying on site. We stayed in the Magnolia Bend section of the resort. Our block was 5 mins walk to the main hotel building. The resort is very large so be mindful you could end up a 10 - 15 min walk away. The hotel theming is great very well done and very pretty. Our room was a reasonable size. Suprisingly it was a bit worn in places and in need of some attention. Mousekeeping were great. Everyday they arranged our kids toys in different ways. The hotel has a full service restaurant and a large foodcourt. Both are OK. The main pool has a slide and life guards. We tended to use the quiet pool next to our block as it was almost always deserted. There are plenty of buses to the parks. Only time we didn't get on the first one was retutning from The MK after fireworks. Just bear in mind that other than the MK tit will take you a little longer to get to the parks on the buses than driving. There is also the option of taking the boat to Downtown Disney which was a very relaxing way to travel. The hotel also offer boat hire, Cycle hire etc. We will definately be considering staying onsite again in the future.

We stayed here in August 2008 for 2 weeks and had a wonderful stay. I requested and was given 2 interconnecting rooms in Magnolia Bend. The rooms were spacious and clean with daily offerings from the maids (my daughter was most put out when she returned everyday to find her teddy up to mischief with other towel animals!). The food court was regularly busy but the food was always good and the staff helpful. I would have no problem staying here again.

We even got a room in the block closest to the foodhall etc. The rooms were lovely, plenty of room for 3 adults, and very clean. Mousekeeping were brilliant especially with the towel animals they left every day. Food was good at both Boatwrights and the foodhall. The setting and grounds were lovely and very quiet and relaxing, and the boat transport to DTD is a big plus. Would definitely stay there again 10/10.

We loved this hotel. We requested a room in Alligator Bayou close to the main building and we were allocated a pool facing room in building 16. It was a great location for us, close to the pool, the main building and the car park. The landscaping was beautiful, but I would imagine that if you were allocated a room further away from the main building, you may get lost on the maze of paths.
We used the boat to DTD several times, it was very popular, but we never had to wait long for a boat to arrive.
The room was cleaned well every day, so no complaints there. The nice thing about being in AB was having the trundle bed, so the 2 children didn't have to share a bed.
We mainly used the quiet pool, we did go to the main pool once, but it was so busy that the kids asked to go back to the quiet pool again.
This is a beautiful hotel and we would definitely book again.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside in September/October 2007 for 14 nights. From the moment we arrived to the sweet Dixie music floating in the air and crickets... cricketing, we fell in love! We stayed in the Alligator Bayou area and enjoyed the tranquil themeing and gardens. We were in block 27 - on the first floor, a nice walk to the food court and shop, yet near a laundry room and quiet pool. We never heard any noise from neighbouring rooms at all, in fact, the whole resort is very peaceful. The food court is well run and has a nice range of options, as well as being big and spacious. You can re-fill your refillable mugs here, although it is a bit of a scrum in the morning, so get there as early as possible! The walk along the river to Port Orleans French Quarter is a great way to start the morning (my mum and brother were staying here) and then we often caught the bus from there. Towel animals were on the bed each night as we returned and often the maid had arranged the childrens soft toys in the window, doing funny things! Comfortable beds and vanity area. Air conditioning was very cold though! We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Wonderful!

A fantastic hotel for the money! Great scenery. Great main pool. Great food court. We've stayed here on three occasions and the only thing I could honestly moan about once or twice were the buses being constantly busy.

The hotel has the bonus of the boat link to DTD which is so relaxing. Beautiful scenery with wildlife a plenty. This would be my choice for a moderate any day of the week. Good location too.

It will always hold special memories as this was where we stayed when we got married at WDW in 2003

When we last went to this hotel, we were blown away. The hotel is set along the tranquil river and it has stunning scenery and it's very picturesque. Since we arrived during the night, we went straight to our room and we were amazed with how spacious they were. The rooms contained all the basics needed for a stay, and more to make it even more enjoyable! We paid for a room for 5, and it was the only few resorts we looked at the fitted for this amount of people. The following day, we decided to find our way around, and we found it quite difficult at first, but we soon got used to our surroundings and were able to find our way with ease for the rest of the holiday. The food was great, the main eatery was litterally about 100m from our room, and the food was great! It wasn't much different to what could be found over the rest of WDW, so nothing there was very special, but it was still really good food.
The hotel pools were also very useful. There are a few pools scattered around the resort, the best is hidden on an island amongst the trees, though there are many others and they aren't too packed either. The resort also offered many other services such as daily housekeeping, a laundrette plus a very useful thing, a boat that sailed down the river and directly to the downtown disney area. Traveling by boat was much quieter and much more scenic, though the resort also offered shuttles to other resorts, parks and other areas so overall, this resort was fantastic and is worth staying at!

Amazing and beautiful resort. Could not fault it. Rooms were clean with a fridge, coffee machine and tv. House keeping was great, left us plenty of fresh towels and toiletries every day, not to mention little novelties made out of faceclothes,eg. a duck, toothbrush holder, even a birthday cake! a lovely touch.
The grounds were tranquil and very picturesque. We had a quiet pool right beside our building which was almost always deserted, once again very clean and very convenient. Food court was lovely and served delicious philly steak sandwiches!
Theres a small boat which goes every 10 or 15 mins to downtown disney which was great and gives you a break from driving and there are horse and carriage rides round the resort, though you have to pay for this but i dont think its expensive.
Theres also a large pool with a jucuzzi and you can hire fishing rods n go fishing.
Theres a restaurant and a bar with live music most nights, and of course a shop with all the usual disney stuff plus a few food items, toiletries, bandages and headache tables etc.
We had an amazing time in florida and the fact that we were staying in a great resort made it all the more fun.

Lovely resort, landscaping and river gives it a truly beautiful feel. We stayed in the Mansions at Magnolia Bend and was only a few minutes walk from food court and bus stop to parks. Had brilliant holiday here, rented bikes and used boat to DTD many times also not far to POFQ so two resorts in one! Agree with previous comment about no English people there! We never heard an English accent! Also have to agree about the toilet flushing noise but not a big problem! My daughter and Ioved it at POR and would recommend it to others.

We stayed here in April for 2 weeks and we did not enjoy it. Although the resort is very pretty and convienent for the parks we found it to be very noisy at night particually into the early hours. The food court was a nightmare we had cold food served to us on one occasion, when we complained we were told it wasn't theor problem! The other thing we found annoying was that the maids used to leave trolleys full of dirty laundry outside our room and in the car parks until the afternoon when the lorrys came to pick them up.

We have stayed in the other moderate hotels and found them to be excellent however we did not have a good experience here.

Disney's Port Orleans Riverside. There is so much to Say this is brief. We loved it. On our arrival we were greated by friendly concierge cast (staff). We stayed in alligator bayou in block 18 and luckily a small pool was just near our room 1830. Our room was reasonable size. Consisted of two small double beds and we also had a spare pull out single. Room had a square table with two chairs. Tv cabinet with space and with 3 drawers for clothes. Mini fridge. Bedside table with Telephone, alarm clock. Curtian which divides the bedroom from bathroom. Tiled area with two sinks, hairdryer, clothing rail with hangers, ironing board/iron and shelving. Door leading into bathroom with bath & shower overhead and wc. In our bathroom we also had a clothes line, great for drip drying wet swim clothes. The Laundry was also just across the other side of the pool and this was very useful. For a wash machine load $2.00, dryer $2.00 and tide soap powder $1.00. Change must all be quarters. There was a Doller bill change machine but often ran out. Ok the swim pool was really warm early morning but as the day progressed it got cooler. The sun was beating down on us so it was quite pleasent to dip into a cool pool. My 3 children loved the pool and we stayed beside it a total of 4 days. Only used the Ol' Man Pool once, very busy. Pool bar there also called Muddy Rivers. We had a Horse carriage ride for 5 is $30 total and really lovely. Also chuckle Vision type bike to rent $22 for 30min follow a special route good fun.
River Roost Bar & lounge had entertainment most nights. Boatwright's full service restaurant didnt use it. Riverside Mill food court was were we ate for Breakfast. Definatley purchase the refil throughout your stay plastic beaker two styles both $11.00 ( refil only at port orleans, tea, coffee, hot choc, fizzy, milk etc). Adult breakfast was approx $7.65 and kids pancakes and bacon/sausage was $3.65. "and boy" Disney sure love their apple sauce comes with every kids meal you buy. You will see what i mean if you are taking kids! Fultons General Store filled with Disney goodies and well as fridges with beer, drinks, milk. Crisps, boxes of Etermans cakes/doughnuts and emergency medical bits etc. Buses were consistant and busl. Travel time to MK 20min others parks 10min,and riverside boat to downtown disney is fun too 20mins. We loved it. It's a great choice. I preferred riverside alligator area and it seemed more private and lots of shrubs and trees. French quarter is more open.

Only downside as with others is the noisey sound of the toilet flushing and bath emptying. maggie

We have stayed at Port Orleans twice and would definitely recommend it. It's a great place to be at the heart of Disney, but also because it's tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the parks - which is hard to believe considering how close to the parks you are.

We have stayed in Alligator Bayou on both occasions - the rooms have had a little upgrade since the first visit in 2003.

The transportation to all of the parks is fantastic, even AK wasn't too much of a trek. After a day in the park the buses can be entertainment in themselves.

We always have our own transport as I would rather eat outside of Port Orleans - nothing wrong with the restaurant there, it's just that eating in different places is all part of my holiday.

Staff are very friendly and once you arrive at the main gate you really feel that you are at Disney.

As for price I think that it is very reasonable and perhaps overlooked by people who think staying on site is too expensive. By the time you get you extra magic hours, the transportation (much more efficient, frequent and reliable than hotel shuttles), the ease of access and the boat trip to DTD, the extra price is well worth it and not really significantly more.

As previously mentioned these hotels are all about Disney, but then again that's why we go isn't it.

Loved this hotel. Originally requested AB but ended up much happier with the choice given of Magnolia Terrace first floor corner room in Magnolia Bend (mansions). Only took 4 minutes to walk past ol man island pool to foodcourt/reception/shop and 3 min walk to bust stop at back of our room. Small pool an asset too but it wasnt heated as well as the main pool! Food choice ok (pasta dishes, pizza, burgers, salads, bakery items, cereals, cooked breakfasts) bit disappointed with choices in main restaurant. Walking distances fine all over with longest trek being along the river into POFQ if you want to wander along. Boat trips to DTD were added bonus and a nice way to while away 20/25 minutes. Regular buses which seemed much fuller if you went to the main depot outside the shop so if you have bus stop near your building use that instead. All our buses went via FQ. Rooms were plenty big enough for 4 people with double sinks, privacy curtain between bed area and wash area, coffee maker with refills, hairdryer, soaps, shampoos, iron/board, fridge, table with 2 chairs, tv, bath with power shower over. Towels available at main pools only so take from the room to smaller pools and ring housekeeping in morning to get extra for when you get back from pool. Housekeeping wonderful - every day we had towel animals. Shop very well stocked with gifts and sweets, drinks, cakes, biscuits, rolls, pastries, cereals, milk, fruit. Only downside was noisy pipes where you could hear toilets flushing and peoples bath water running out! Longest journey to parks was to MK (20 minutes) rest were only about 10 mins on buses.

There were 6 of us on this trip - myself and my then BF, now hubby! My parents and my sister and her new husband (it was their Disneymoon! ). My parents had paid for a water-view room and it was lush. It was in the Mansions. The rest of us were allocated rooms in the Alligator Bayou area - which was nice but we didn't like being so far away from our parents - after all, it was a family trip! So we asked to be moved and this was arranged with no issues (twice for me! ). Our rooms were all in the Mansions and a short walk over the bridge to the food court / main reception area. The food court was great - yummy choices for all meals. We all loved wandering over there for drinks and snacks. We got the refillable mugs!
We rented a boat one day and took a picnic on-board. We nearly managed to get to DTD before it was time to come back!
The boat to DTD was great - a really nice other option instead of the buses!
Our rooms were great - always kept clean and tidy. They were very spacious as we all had king beds (apart from my parents who love twin beds! ).
The bus service to the parks was excellent, we were right beside the first bus stop, so did always get a seat and we were always first to be dropped off on the way back!
We always received excellent customer service from all CMs.
I would not hesitate to recommend the resort at all - if we go back, we would stay in POFQ for something new, or a deluxe resort!

Great hotel, really close to DTD. Good selection of food options, onsite restaurant very nice. Never used the main pool, the pool by our block was great, good size and always really quite.
We hired a boat and sailed to DTD, which was great fun. Favourite Disney resort so far.

First impressions were wow! so beautiful and realsitic new orleans feel. The rooms were perfect and comfy. Big! with two sinks each and spacious bathroom. Boat to downtown disney was fun and great for evenings. Hotel wise this was A++. However the only draw back was being so isolated from everything else, such as different restaurants. After two weeks we felt a bit institutionalised! we wanted to eat in a normal non-disney restaurant (not that we dont love disney!) but it got a bit much. What im trying to say is, if you love disney so much and you dont mind being disney, disney, disney the whole holiday then stay here cos its brilliant. But if you want a bit of normal life for a short while then opt for elsewhere and save some money.

Stayed for 3 weeks in Port Orleans Riverside.
A fantastic Hotel, only let down by a poor night life/scene.
The Hotel is a large complex of buildings. 4 blocks of about 28 rooms, each with its own swimming pool, or larger blocks with there own larger pools.
We were up at 6am every mornng for a swim in our block pool. Pools operate 24hours a day. Cool at day, and heated a night. Ours was like a steam bath in the early morning. There is an assortment of other large and even larger pools to wallow in if you get bored of yours though. Also bike hire, boat and speed boat hire and horse and carriage rides around the resort. The landscaping is fantastic. Food Halls great and rooms are bog standard, but fine. If you want to go to Downtown Disney on a regular basis or want to nightclub, then this is the only Hotel you need to book.
This is because this is the only Hotel connected to Downtown via a waterway.
Boats leave for Downtown between 10am to 11.40pm. The last Boat back for Downtown to Port Orleans is 12 midnight. The trip takes about 20 mins and the trip is fantastic. Coming home on the boat at night is unforgettable.
If you want to come home after the last boat leaves then you have to use the bus from Downtown. But this is no problems either.
The only downside about the Port Orleans is the nightlife, if you decide to stay at the Hotel is pretty poor.
It has a small bar area and the only entertainment is a crazy man who plays the piano and sings the most terrible songs that get lottally on your nerves.
Rest rest of the resort is pretty dead on the whole. But I suspect that most of the time you'll be in the parks or downtown, having fun!
Also for some reason this hotel is rarley booked by the British, so lots of Americans were always wanting to talk to us all the time.
The only downside as well is that it is maybe a little overpriced for what it is, but you may get a good price to stay there so shop around.
I spent 3 weeks here and know the hotel like the back of my hand so believe me when I tell you this is a fab hotel.

It's some years since we stayed at this resort, we did enjoy our stay but found there was quite a bit of walking involved to and from the food court. The food court is very large, and there's also a sit down restaurant. There's a marina where you can hire boats, which are great fun, and also surrey bikes, which are also a lot of fun. All in all, a lovely resort, fantastic setting, but on the large side.

We stayed here when it was still called Dixie Landings. We stayed in the mansions and the setting was beautiful. There was a fountain outside our room and the river was just beyond. We loved the big barn rrestaurant, especially for breakfast where you could feast on so many delicious things that it wasn't necessary to eat again until tea time! The pool was OK but the slide was a bit boring. We stayed here at Christmas and a nice touch was that when we got up Christmas morning we found a stocking of sweets hanging on the door. That was a great surprise for the kids.

We have not long returned from our holiday and 2 week stay at POR. In general the hotel is acceptable but the rooms are no bigger than those at the value hotels and dark and dirty looking.

It certainly makes a difference in what building you are located as we were in building 24 and had at least a 10 min walk to to food court and reception building etc.

Maid service is only average and we were tipping daily to start with as advised on the DIBB but received no different service to our friends who were staying a few doors away and were not tipping. In fact our friends were receiving towel animals and other extras on a regular basis but we had none!

The final nail in the coffin for us was when after returning from a full day at the park we found the maid had left our room door open. On reporting it to the hotel we were asked if anything was missing which fortunately it wasn't - we were then asked "what is the problem then?"

In our honest opinion not worth the extra money over that of the value resorts

our second time at por. arrived at 3pm. allocated a room I'm alligator bayou. brilliant pull down bed which we hadn't asked for. rooms have Been renovated since we were last there. really close to the food court. staff very friendly and helpful. food court was fantastic. needs upgraded though. looks tired. terrific choice of food. buses to parks. we never waited longer than 10 minutes. great facilities. washer dryer beside the pool.. only one downside. the toilet could have smelled better. I do think it was the cleaner fluid they used. we had to ask mousekeeping to clean it extra . didn't make much difference. I do have a very strong sense of smell. I would just go to Wal-Mart and buy bleach next time. tones of activities for the kids. an outdoor film show every night. we would go back

Without doubt the best value for money stay on Disney property. I've stayed here about half a dozen times and although I agree with a couple of people regarding Boatwrights needing an upgrade, generally I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I stayed in the brand new Coronado Springs when it opened, for one night! Then I checked out and went back to Riverside, it just felt more "Disney." Pick where you stay, Magnolia Bend is my preferred area, it's "lighter" in look and decor to Alligator Bayou and just over the bridge to, food, reception, transport. Get a second floor room overlooking the pool, laundry is there too. Finally the boat trip down to the Marketplace is unique and a relaxing change from the bus. Have fun!

Did not really rate this hotel and would not return. There was some good and bad points on rating this hotel, first the bad points.
Overall the buildings are clean but did not like the grounds seemed overgrown and made me feel dirty walking through, also kept getting bit walking through them. The food court was chaos, people just walking out with food and not paying as it was that chaotic with no real organisation in effect. The pool in this hotel is not that big really so you cant have a decent swim.

Good points: Staff are really friendly, rooms are good enough for what you need, enjoyed the relaxing boat ride to DTD but it was always full as it also served the French Quarter and the food choice was ok. Having been to the CSR which is brilliant and not in no way near their standards I would not return.

We stayed her end of August to 7th September. In block 32 corner room next to launderette and quiet pool and not far from bus stop 5 minute walk. We where across the bridge from the food court and reception.

On our first night we went over to the food court at about 7.30pm and walked out again a there were long queues for food and no tables. We jumped the bus to MK and went into Caseys for our meal. We went into some of the shops before heading back to POR for 9.30.

Rooms was bigger than in Pop Centuary and worked well for 3 females as the youngest 17 was able to use the Murphy bed. Did have 2 days when house keeping missed us out. Plus came back from the parks at 4.00 and the cleaner was only just going in to our room. We did not complain as we don't usually leave a lot to clean up.

Buses I have to say we're excellent with electronic time table at the stops telling you when the next bus is due. There does seem to be a problem with the bus from Epcot we did wait for 45 minutes to get the bus back to POR. The boat to and from Disney Springs is handy, a gentle ride down the river. Best thing about POR was you were not to far from any of the parks.

The staff in the shop in the main building are excellent and explain the way you can convert your QS meals into snacks to take home.

Food court when we did use it was ok. The wait times were a pain especially when you needed to get different meals. The food was good as it was prepared while you wait. The bounty Breakfast in the food court was to be avoided very greasey, not as good as Pop Centuary.

Overall a nice resort, will try French Quarter next time.
