I’ve been looking at fabric for masks. As a complete novice can someone please explain “fat quarters” and some of the other terms I keep seeing? Thanks.

I know that they are smaller squares of material for quilting but had to google the measurements (around 50cm x 55cm wide) so big enough to do some craft stuff but not for dress making unless you like the patchwork look. Generally they come in bundles of similar material (mostly cotton) and they are normally patterned.

For face masks, fat quarters are a good size but they will need to be doubled at least. The guardian website had a good guide on how to make a face mask. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...ewing-required

I've been buying mine from eBay.

I've made a few masks now. Just going to make some for my eldest daughter and her husband.

Thank you, I will have a look. I’ve just ordered a few squares that are 20inches x 10 inches.
I’m such a novice🤣
