HELP! Here now and phone’s not working

Hi lovely people,

I am in San Francisco with a friend and our phones are not working properly.
We both have a work phone that uses EE (same organisation) and we organised to get data whilst here with the intention of using Google Maps as our Sat Nav.
Since landing in SF, we have not been able to use the app in the car.

Anyone any idea what is wrong?

I would suggest looking at the Roaming settings to ensure they are turned on.

Depending on the phone you might be able to open up settings and search for "Roaming" otherwise it will be under one of the options along Network, Data etc

Have you had the "Welcome to the USA" text?

might only be available before u leave UK, but if u send ROAM FURTHER to 150 it might work.

Unfortunately that would be the Catch-22: Can't send the message to activate roaming, because roaming hasn't been activated :pgig:

I found this with my Samsung phone. It automatically turns off data roaming when I go abroad so I manually have to turn it back on.

Hi,

Thanks for your responses. We solved the mystery. Our IT department had set up a corporate lock on the account that stops anyone adding more data. They set up additional data for us but forgot to unlock this part do the account .

I really appreciated you all trying to help. I genuinely did not realise how complicated using phones abroad is. X

Would suggest when you get onto the hotel WiFi you can download the map of SF to google maps which can be used offline. No data would be needed then. HTH
