Route from Miami to Orlando

Hi Guys,

Could you tell me what the best route you guys take to get from Miami to Orlando? I'm not worried about getting there in the quickest time, I am wondering if it's worth going up the coast rather than taking the turnpike.
I am also looking for recommendations for places to stop with good facilities?

Thanks :)

I have done it a number of times but i tend to go the looooooong way. We go across the 41 towards Naples then usually stop either at Joanies Blue Crab Cafe on the 41 itself, or nip onto Marco Island and eat at the snook Inn. Then follow the 75 up to tampa area, we usually stop off either at a beach around there (clearwater, AMI etc) then on to Orlando. It is a good 7 hours of driving though so maybe not for everyone lol.

We prefer US27.
It is often faster due to much less traffic. A MUCH nicer drive, no tools and much safer in my view due to no mad drivers.

We're doing this drive in 4 weeks and have done it before.

Our plan is to go up I95 along the coast with a stop in Vero Beach. Not been there before but its just about halfway so an ideal place to stop as it has an outlet, plus we can have a paddle in the sea.

We use the Turnpike and then stop at Vero for brunch. There are plenty of service plazas to stop at for a break and some food, but we like to stop at the beach as then it really feels like we're on holiday.

We fly into Miami, drive to Palm Beach Gardens (about an hour away from MIA) and the set off the next day. Never in a rush, it's still a holiday after all!

We just let the sat nav decide 😂

This trip we’re staying over in Palm Beach on the way there and will stop at Vero Beach on the way back.

Is the I95 toll free?
