Blaenau Ffestiniog - eating places -pubs + take aways

We are booking a holiday in Tanygrisiau near Blaenau Ffestiniog for this Autumn.

we are booking a self catering cottage, and taking our large dog (Bernese Mountian Dog) with us, so we may be restricted on finding places to eat out unless we can find dog friendly pubs.

He is still technically a puppy (currently 10 months old) although already looking full sized, so sometimes he can appear full of energy and not always calm and relaxed, lol

I was wondering if any Dibbers live near here or have also had holidays near here that can advise on good very dog friendly pubs or any decent take aways within a 10 minute drive. Hubby doesn't do indian, so would be chinese, fish and chips or pizza places we would need to get take aways from.

Many thanks

Mainly pubs & cafes, odd hotel that have restaurants too. Parents had a cottage just down the hill in Cym Penmachno & we always head into Betwys Y Coed.

Tbh there isn't much in Tannygrisau or Blaenau lots of beautiful scenery though. There are takeaways in Blaenau but think you'll need to venture a bit further out. We usually have our dog with us and some pubs let you in if not there's always the beer garden which is where we usually end up. The Brycynan Inn just outside Morfa Nefyn allows dogs in one side although that was a few yrs back also a fair way away! The beach is dog friendly too although I think it's one side of the slip way. Our dog lives a splash. You can also get on the Ffestiniog railway with a dog, they have a rover ticket! Nice wee trip down to Porthmadog and Cadwalladers ice cream parlour allows well behaved dogs too. So many beautiful places to see in North Wales. The Ty Coch Inn at Morfa Nefyn is a bit of a trek over rocks one way and through the golf course the other but it's almost tropical on a warm day, they also have a live webcam so we called my mum and got her online so she could see our son sploshing around in the sea (1st hols, he was 15mths!) So many hidden gems <3

We took our dog with us and stayed in a cottage near Betws-y-Coed last summer. We had a brilliant time and found lots of really nice pubs to eat in. As others have said Betws-y-Coed itself is very nice with pubs and restaurants. We also took a trip to Anglesey one day, Porthmadog, Conwy and Blaenau. Ate out nearly every day and the dog was no problem as we mainly ate our in beer gardens or outside spaces but many places allowed dogs inside too.

The only thing we did find was that we often drove a fair way each day, although our cottage was only four miles from Betws-y-Coed, it was quite remote from other places. However we never minded as the area is do beautiful and the scenery was breathtaking.
