We like the Landes area of France - in the Atlantic coast. The beaches are long and not very crowded.

We have heard good things about Village Nature et Ocean near Messange. We haven’t stayed there but have stayed in Messange - we found lots to do (it was a good few years ago) and the kids loved it.

Far nicer part of France than the Med coast’

Before we started heading out to Florida almost every year we spent many a happy summer and Easter holiday in the Dordogne area of France. It's not near the coast (well, 50k or so) but there are loads of lovely rivers for canoeing, lakes for swimming etc and even lakes with beaches. Amazing food, wonderful scenery, lakes of wine, mountains of cheese and bread, pastries and meats.

Lots to do in this area too. Caves to explore, farmers markets, great canoeing on the rivers and loads of places to hire from.

We spent lots of time by the pool drinking and eating. Very low light pollution means that you can often see amazing night skies. We watched a meteor shower back in 2016 lying on the pool loungers...wonderful.

Matina Aparthotel in Pefkos Rhodes will tick all of the boxes for you. I asked a similar question a few years ago and it was recommended to me by a dibber and it qas amazing. Loved the hotel, location and everything else about it. If you do a search for Pefkos and my username you should find the thread, plus my highs and lows when we got back.
