Las Vegas hotels-recommendations, and when to book?

Morning Dibbers,

As part of our road trip in August we will be spending 5 days in LV. On our previous visit we stayed at the Red Rock Casino and Spa, which we loved as pool time and good food are important to us, and we were happy being off strip and catching the free shuttle to the strip when we wanted to, whilst enjoying the facilities of the hotel and the good value you get from being off strip. However for our dates next summer, the hotel is coming in at £1100 for one room (for 4) plus resort fee- significantly higher that the £400 we paid in August 2016! Can anyone say from experience when is the best time price-wise to book LV hotels, as I’m sure I’ve read that booking too far in advance doesn’t necessarily offer the best price. Also are there any other hotels with great pool areas that are recommended? Mandalay Bay looks lovely but in the reviews everyone comments on how the extra charges there really add up.

Hi have a look at the signature suits at the mgm. They sit at the back of the hotel and are apartments. These can be booked via the hotel or as we did via home away or Airbnb which worked much cheaper. We had a 1 bed with massive bathroom a full kitchen with views over the pools

I think you are looking too early maybe?

It’s low season in Vegas in August. Customary wisdom is that three months out is the best price point.

We paid a similar price to you at MB in August (cheaper actually) but think we perhaps booked accommodation we knew slept four but declared only two adults.

Thanks both, yes I wondered if we were looking a bit too early, I had heard in the past that the prices start high and then come down a little, which is the opposite to our normal way of booking things early for a bargain!😊

We have booked for August, we paid £560 for 4 nights at caesars palace and I think I have seen slightly better prices recently but not booking direct with the hotel.

Well after much research we have booked the Palazzo at a price we are happy with (possibly a glitch as the rate dropped by £600, we quickly booked and then it went back up the next day!) and it’s on free cancellation so if the price should drop at all between now and August, we can cancel and rebook. Very happy with our choice as the 2 queen bed suite layout with the sleeper sofa will suit our family of 4 very well 😊

Signature suites at MGM we’re great- we booked on air B and B - no resort fees either

You are looking too early.
I did a day at Red Rock with a cabana , lovely pool area . It’s on our list for a stay.

Just book a refundable rate now and when it drops call and ask them to reduce the rate or cancel if the better deal is elsewhere. Vegas.com is a good place to watch the offers.
