Six Nights At The Waldorf Astoria, New York - Day 3.

I was wide awake at 4am and didn't manage to get back to sleep ☹️. Mum and Alfie got up at some point later and we were out of the room by 9am after eating M&M's in the room as a pre-breakfast. We walked up to the Rockefeller passing Saks on 5th Avenue.

We took a few pictures of the ice rink, which was way smaller than I was expecting.

The decorations around the ice rink were lovely 😀

The tree was huge but looked a lot prettier when lit up

We intended on going to "the top of the Rock" but security advised against it as they said it was zero visibility so we saved our ticket for another day.
We had a quick look in the Lego Store near by and Alfie bought a NY magnet.

We had breakfast in Sean's Irish Bar & Kitchen on 87th Street, no photos of the food - we must have been hungry!

The breakfast was good, service just ok. We paid our bill and walked to Times Square where we were accosted by a group of rappers trying to sell their CD's - Alfie was very impressed with them as they said he looked "hip hop" 😂

We walked to the Empire State Building passing a few oversized decorations on our way

Giant baubles!

We arrived at The Empire State Building at around 12:30 and swapped our New York explorer passes for real tickets. The queues were short and the process was efficient.

Real tickets.

We took the lift up to the top, my ears were popping like mad on the way up 🙄

We took plenty of pictures, I won't bore you with them as they all look pretty much the same to me!
We could have gone up to an outdoor viewing platform (not sure if this is extra or not but decided against it, Mum isn't great with heights).

Next we got a yellow cab to Bloomingdales costing $12 including tip. We looked around but it was quite expensive, a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick was $35 - over here they're around £23.
After this we walked to Central Park.

I'm not sure if it was the time of year or not but the place looked quite shabby and had a distinct smell of sewage to it 😷
We got some Nutella filled crepes from a snack van and wandered across to the Apple Store where Alfie played on the new iPad Pro's - they were lovely!

We then had a look in Nike Town for the elusive Jordan trainers! Whilst we were there we saw a football that Alfie has at home, think it was around £20, over there it was nearer £60!

It was now evening and we walked back to the hotel getting caught in the scrum outside Saks, it was hellish - people pushing and shoving just to get across the road. It felt really unsafe although here were police officers everywhere.
Back at the room we ate Pringles and biscuits in bed 🙄

I agree the tree looks much prettier in your night time photo.

We were there just a week later and thought the tree was decidedly shabby in the daytime!

We enjoyed CP but had glorious sunshine which I think helps!

Whoops, that's definitely a typo, it was on 48th street ;)

I didn't notice the Lego shop when we went last summer. My youngest son was far too busy looking for Nintendo World and catching pokemon at the Rockefeller centre (I had a nice sit down).
We used the subway a lot to get around, as we found the traffic quite busy.
