Tortola & St Thomas

Going on the Fantasy next month ( my DD's don't know, they think they are going to spend week at beach :d:) & looking at Port Adventures for Tortola & St Thomas.

Has anyone done the Island & Beach tour on Tortola TT11 or the Ultimate Island tour on St Thomas ST71?

These are both only half day tours as my DD's are terrified of not making it back to ship in time, which also means it has to be via Disney :confused2.

Tortola hasn't recovered from the hurricane and is in a bit of a poor state unfortunately, we only wandered around for a few hours and it was plenty.

It‘s a while since we’ve been to Tortola but we’ve been to St Thomas about ten times, most recently in February. It’s a shame your DD’s are so nervous about not being back on the ship on time as there are lots of options for private tours. The island is quite small so you are never too far away from the dock. We did break down once but our driver called his friend who was there in ten minutes and we continued the tour - never any thought about not getting back to the ship on time. We always plan to be back at the port two hours before sailing. St Thomas has two cruise ship ports (Havensight and Crown Bay) - Havensight is closer to the capital Charlotte Amelie but you can pick up a three hour island tour for about $25pp at each port. There are some nice beaches on the island and taxis are available at the port (the taxis are open sided buses for about 20 people known as jitneys).
The only time we take cruise ship tours is if we go over to the island of St John - the ferry is reliable but can be cancelled if the wind picks up. We’re going back to St John in November on a ship trip and surprisingly there was only $5pp difference with diy.
Lots of interesting stuff to do on St Thomas.
