Can I get a refund?

Hi so we have booked to go to Thailand in 2022. This is the third time we hope to go. We just had our flight times changed by 6 hours going out and 11 hours coming back. Not great as we are missing days of our holiday but not a lot we can do. I have also seen that we will have to isolate in the first hotel in Bangkok until test results come back which is likely to be 24 hours - so another day off the holiday. Agent is. Ow saying they think BA are about to pull the flights as they are no longer for sale and if that happens we will need to travel indirect.

We already have two flights to get back, really don’t want 3. I guess we will lose more of the holiday as I direct is bound to take longer. A bit nervous of flying indirect via another country and having to work out testing rules. Also we are currently BA premium economy but if we have to change it will be to one of the airlines that don’t have this class.

I asked - if BA pull their direct flights would we be I titled to a full refund and have been told no they will put us on the next best indirect flight. Anything we can do?

we had a similar thing with Singapore Airlines to Thailand this Christmas and they tried to accommodate us on other flights but when I asked, they said we could have a refund, because I said I didn't want the new flights as it would mean another day off school work etc.. Is there an amount of hours they are allowed to adjust the flights by, I would think you are entitled to a refund because it is not what you booked

Oh I hope so, thanks for sharing. Of course the flights haven’t been cancelled and we are happy to go but it’s a lot of money for what is now only a 10 day holiday.

BA's policy for refund for flight changes is a change of 4 hours or more, so you should be able to get a refund if that's what you want.

However, if you booked via an agent then they might have a different policy if you've booked as a package.

As above, BA is 4 hours for a significant change so you could already have grounds for refund provided you haven't accepted the change. Also if they cancelled their direct flight, you would be able to get a refund based on change of flight number rather than accept a change to indirect even if the times were similar.

However since you booked through a TA, both scenarios are down to their terms rather than BA's.

If BA cancels any of the flights or change them to a different time over 4 hours then you are entitled to a cash refund. You will need to get your travel agent to action this but they may be reluctant to do so.

Ok thanks - we have booked via a TA but I’ll push them for a refund if BA cancel their flights - which looks likely as they are not selling them at all on any date now. Fingers crossed.
