Day 6 is here

WOW! What an adventure!

We absolutely loved our little road trip – getting to experience some new theme parks was brilliant, and we can’t wait to explore more of Europe over the next few years.

We had a mixed back of weather, but it didn’t spoil our days, and we quite liked the wrap-up-warm approach to the holiday, as it really felt like something different.

Driving was much easier than I thought it would be – yes, you can go fast one some sections of the Autobahn, but in reality, most people are doing 100-110 kph, so it’s about the same as being on a UK motorway. Rich was a great navigator and was really calm and patient with me .

The parks…

Phantasialand – definitely the best park of the trip, and up there with the best theme parks that we’ve visited so far (including Orlando). Taron is a truly awesome ride and deserving of it’s current #1 spot on our Coasters list, and the theming across the park is excellent...

Attractiepark Toverland – what a little gem of a park! We absolutely loved our day here, and it surpassed our expectations. Troy was the standout ride of the day, but Fenix was a close 2nd 😊.

Movie Park Germany – was ok. The only park of the 3 where we experienced queues, and the park itself was a little run down. Nickelodeon Land saved it for us, and whilst we’re not in a mega-hurry to return to the park, it would be nice to see what it’s like in nicer weather (and to ride Star Trek: Operation Enterprise too)…

So, what’s next for the Huxwolds? We’ve got a few plans in place for 2019…

Over May half-term, we’ll be heading back for a slightly tweaked version of our road-trip. Flying in and out of Cologne again, this time we’ll be returning to Phantasialand and Toverland, but going a bit further afield and adding The Eftelling (Netherlands) and Walibi Belgium into our route, and we can’t wait.

Then in July, Tom’s off to Barcelona on a week-long school trip, so Rich and I are doing our first adults-only trip to PortAventura – only Monday to Friday, but the parks are open till Midnight, so we’re looking forward to riding Shambhala in the dark. Tom’s trip includes a day in PortAventura, so we may cross paths, which I’m sure will be hugely embarrassing for him, so we may have to hide if we see him .

October half-term is currently looking like a 3-4-day Europa park trip, but we’ll see how the year evolves.

We’ll hopefully be returning to the place that started it all in August 2020. There are some big rides in Orlando with our names on, so watch this space for a pre-trippie…

Really enjoyed reading your trippie. I lived in Germany when I was a kid so visited Phantasialand quite a bit, and De Efteling which I’m sure you’ll enjoy this year :)

Have you made it to Europa Park yet? Fantastic place and somewhere we’re looking forward to going back to eventually. We’re just back from a week in Belgium and anticipate spending a lot more time in Europe exploring as it’s so beautiful :)

I am so glad that I found this report- as a fellow TPWW viewer and Florida nut we decided that last year we should try some new things. Last year we went to Cologne and Fantasialand, we are going to Port Aventura in July for the first time.

We considered going to Europa Park/ Efteling/ Movie Park but my husband wasn't keen on the driving- hopefully this will persuade him!

Hello fellow TPWW fan :wavey:

The driving really is much easier than I thought it would be, so I hope your hubby is persuaded to give it a go

Have a fab time in PortAventura - just over 2 weeks till we go :pgig::pgig::pgig:
