Maxpass system for photos and Fastpasses

A few posts by Dibbers have been mentioning the new Maxpass which has been introduced at Disneyland so I thought I'd post the info here:

When you add the Disney MaxPass feature to your ticket, you’ll be able to download, save and share all of your Disney PhotoPass photos captured during an entire day. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to reserve digital Disney FASTPASS selections right from your mobile device using the Disneyland app while you’re in the parks. Enjoy both services for the introductory price of only $10 per ticket, per day!
Disney MaxPass = Disney PhotoPass Downloads + Digital FASTPASS Selections
We’ve combined 2 popular services to help you make the most of the magic! With the Disney MaxPass feature, you can:

Get Unlimited Disney PhotoPass Downloads for the Day – Share an entire day’s worth of Disney PhotoPass memories with family and friends! You’ll even be able to access photos taken on select attractions and during select Character dining experiences. Magic Shots are also included. Simply ask your Disney PhotoPass Photographer to pose you for a Magic Shot, and a select Disney Character or fun surprise will appear in your photo after it’s taken.
Make FASTPASS Selections from Your Mobile Device While You’re in the Parks – With this electronic option, you won’t need to walk over to a kiosk to secure a FASTPASS entitlement—you can simply make a FASTPASS selection (subject to availability) using the Disneyland app and then scan your code at the entrance when it’s time to experience the attraction.

Guests are strongly advised to check the day’s FASTPASS ticket availability and other park details before purchasing the Disney MaxPass feature or using a park ticket with Disney MaxPass. Popular attraction FASTPASS tickets may not be available at the time of Disney MaxPass purchase or use as FASTPASS tickets are limited and availability is not guaranteed. Disney MaxPass is nonrefundable and subject to restrictions and change without notice.
How to Purchase and Use Disney MaxPass If You Have Tickets

Download the Disneyland app.
Enter the park you wish to visit using your tickets.
Open the Disneyland app.
Tap the circular character icon at the bottom of the screen.
Sign in to the app with your Disney Account.
Tap “Get FASTPASS”.
Select all Guests who wish to use the Disney MaxPass feature—if someone is not listed, link their ticket or pass.
Purchase the Disney MaxPass feature for any Guests who do not already have it.
Make your FASTPASS selections and enjoy your Disney PhotoPass downloads.

How to Purchase and Use Disney MaxPass If You Don’t Yet Have Tickets

Download the Disneyland app.
Open the Disneyland app.
Tap the circular character icon at the bottom of the screen.
Sign in to the app with your Disney Account.
Tap “Buy Tickets”.
Purchase tickets with the Disney MaxPass feature for your party.
Enter the park you wish to visit using the tickets.

NOTE: The Maxpass does not allow you to book Fastpasses in advance of the day you attend at the parks. You can only book them on the day you are in the parks..

How Guests with the Disney MaxPass Feature Use the Disney PhotoPass Benefit
Here’s how Guests with the Disney MaxPass feature can link and download photos:

Be on the lookout for our photographers who are poised and ready to take your photos at several scenic locations throughout Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park—at Character Experiences, select dining locations, special events and more. You can also find them wandering the parks, seeking to capture magical moments of you and your entire family.

Select attractions even have cameras positioned in just the right spots to catch your priceless, in-the-moment expressions. You’ll just need to remember to link your 8-character Attraction ID, located on the preview wall, to your Disney account.
Download the day’s photos from your Disney PhotoPass gallery before they expire. Passholders with the annual Disney MaxPass benefit can download their Disney PhotoPass photos, captured during the validity dates of their Annual Passports.

How Guests with the Disney MaxPass Feature Use Digital FASTPASS Service
Here’s how Guests with the Disney MaxPass feature can make a FASTPASS selection for one of 16 attractions, if available:

Tap “Get FASTPASS” to make your FASTPASS selection and receive a Return-Time window.
When it’s time to enjoy the attraction, head to the FASTPASS Return entrance and hold your mobile device up to the scanner so it can read your FASTPASS code.

If your plans change, no problem. You can easily cancel or change your selection on the My Plans screen. Please keep in mind FASTPASS availability is limited and not guaranteed.
Disney MaxPass for Annual Passholders
Guests who have a valid Disneyland Annual Passport may purchase the Disney MaxPass feature as a daily add-on for $10 through the Disneyland app or as an annual add-on for $75 at a Disneyland Resort Ticket Booth. The Disney MaxPass feature is an included benefit with the Disney Signature Plus Passport and the Disney Premier Passport.

The cost of the annual Disney MaxPass feature cannot be pro-rated for passes expiring in less than a year and expires when your Annual Passport expires.

** Note that Fastpasses for World of Color or Fantasmic preferred viewing area cannot be obtained by Maxpass. The Legacy FP tickets must be obtained from the allocated machines.

Just as a tip for people to scan your tickets into the app before you get to the park, especially if you have wifi at your hotel. The 3G and Wifi signals are a bit hit and miss through the park.

Brilliant information Geoffa. We used Maxpass and it was great for getting all the rides done we wanted, although we did have issues with the wifi in the parks that caused a fair bit of frustration. The only downside we would have said was that there wasn't an abundance of photographers but we got some photos and of course we got our ride photos so that was well worth it.

Sorry this may be in the post but couldn't see it. So does this app allow you to book fast passes in advanced?

You can only book fast passes on the day. I've gone to Disneyland twice this past month and used the Max Pass each time. You can only use the Max Pass once you are inside the gates of the park. Then you can start choosing which ride fast pass you want to book first- after you've booked it, the app will tell you at what time you can book another fast pass.

When getting ride photos etc it mentions a 8 digit code? Do I have to input that into the app to link the photo? What about the photographers around the park, how do you link those pictures?

So much easier with magic bands that could be scanned! 😳

You have a QR style bar code on your phone/app that the photographer will scan for the photos. A tip one gave me was to save it as your screensaver for the day so you don't need to keep going back into he app. For the ride photos you collect the code off your picture as you come off the rides. We just used our smartphone camera to collect this. Sometimes you need to be quick as they don't always leave the photos for long but if you miss it there are usually cast members about to get it off. You then type this number into the app and then it adds your photos in.

BUY the MaxPass! So Worth It!

Good Morning from the States - I can report that the Disneyland MaxPass feature is completely worth the extra cost. I have used it on my last several trips and it has enabled us to ride everything with fastpasses multiple times with little or no wait.

The short version is that as soon as you pass the turnstiles you can open the app and see a menu of every available fastpass in both Disneyland parks. You can pick one then and there. As soon as you use it or 90 minutes later you can pick another one. If you start early, you can get several major attractions in right away. It also works from the Downtown Disney area and even close hotels, so if you take an afternoon break you can get a FP for when you return.

The free downloads of all the pictures is just a bonus. Highly recommend!
