Can you walk places in Anaheim

My Mum and Dad who will be in their 70's, but are fit and active will be there a few days next April. They are on a cruise from LA for two weeks but then in Anaheim to visit my brother before the flight home. My brother will be spending time with them but he might have to work a day or two.

Obviously there is Disney (not sure if they want to visit) perhaps DTD. But is it easy to walk any distance in Anheim or is it like Orlando without many sidewalks. If we book a hotel for them I want to make sure they could at least go across the road to shops and restaurants without needing a car. I've heard of the ART bus, does this only go to Disney or anywhere else:confused2

I suppose as my brother lives there I should be able to get this information off him, but to be honest I find I can get more from dibbers:)

there are numerous hotels in anheim, some right opposite disney so its easy to walk to the parks or to downtown disney, others are tucked out of the way across some quite big roads.just check where the hotel is located before you book.we normally stay at the hyatt orange county, its a fair walk from disney ,about a mile id guess, but we walk it in the morning then get the bus back in the evening.there are pavements so walking is possible

We stay at the Sheraton Anaheim which despite being literally next door to I5 is an easy walk via nice pavements to Downtown Disney and the parks themselves.

We stayed at Residence Inn maingate, right opposite the Garden Walk shopping complex and 19 mins walk to the Disney turnstiles. There are pavements, but places to walk to are limited.

There are pavements on all the roads so walking around is easy. We stayed at the Sheraton Park and the Radisson Maingate which are a short stroll to the parks, and like Danny said the Hyatt Regency Orange County is about a mile away but theres a bus that leaves there for the parks on the hour and half hour all day long from early morning till late night. Its also opposite Target, 99c shop and Walgreens as well as close to some good restaurants like the Outback Steakhouse, Red Robin and Bakers Square.
There is also bus stops right outside and you can catch a bus down to The Block at Orange or to Newport Beach.
