Tourin' Over California 2017 - Day 8 Pismo to Anaheim

We all had a good night's sleep at The Sandcastle – the beds and pillows really comfy. We went to get breakfast at Sandcastle, which was a continental breakfast

We went back to the room to finish packing and while Megan was getting ready we sat out on the balcony looking out at the beach.

We were on the road by 9 and not too long after setting off stopped for petrol.

We the. headed for Solvang, a Danish town about an hour away from Pismo Beach. It was a really pretty town and we called in at the bakery where we were spoil the for choice but in the end Megan for a Swiss delight and Tracey and I got a Napoleon to share.







Back on the road we got back on the 101 and headed south. Our next stop was an hour or so later at a Starbucks for a drink and restroom break and Tracey and I ate the Napoleon

We then set the sat nav for Anaheim and got back on our way. The sat nav kept suggesting alternative routes because of traffic but we ignored most of them and stuck to our original route.

Closer to LA we needed another loo break so pulled off at an exit and tried a gas station which did have restrooms

It was a good job we stopped when we did because soon after we were stuck in traffic on I5 where we made slow progress through LA, before we finally got moving again for the last few miles, arriving at Dessert Palms Hotel about 4pm, 7 hours after leaving Pismo.


We checked in and found our room on 3rd floor. When we opened the door we found we had been given a suite.









Megan stayed in the room on social media with her friends while we went exploring, walking to Downtown Disney where we got our 3 day park tickets, before going back to the hotel. It was a really hot afternoon now in the sun.





The 3 of us then went in the pool. It was a bit chilly and we waited until there was room in the hot tub.

After returning to the room and getting changed we walked along W Katella Avenue past the back of Cars Land. It seemed odd seeing Disneyland in this way, very different to Florida.

We went to Marri’s Pizza & Italian where we started with soup for Megan and I and salad for Tracey

Megan had chicken Alfredo, and Tracey and I got one pasta with meat sauce and meatballs and one with Italian sausage which we shared. The meatballs were much. Nicer than the sausage.

We were all full after that and it was only just over $50

We walked back to the hotel to get showered and sleep ready for an early start tomorrow

Sharing the pain about the 7 hour journey. We drove from SFO to Pismo Beach on our arrival day and it took us 2 hours just to get past San Jose Airport, 6 hours total to Pismo Beach!
