Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop!

This wind up plane is actually the ride sign/entrance...
http://www.dlp.info/News/wp-content/...te-Drop-01.jpg

Andy has written his name on it...
http://www.dlp.info/News/wp-content/...te-Drop-02.jpg

Incidentally, Imagineers have confirmed that the time line for this area was post Toy Story 2 - which is why Andy is still playing with is toys ;)

He has decided that an army needs more than just one plane, so he has this one as well...

Near to the ride is a seat for those who don't want to ride the attraction. Its made out of a piece of Brio wooden train track...
http://www.dlp.info/News/wp-content/...te-Drop-04.jpg

I love the fence here made from KNEX. One of the heads of this project had a rule - "If you can see it, its a toy!" and this theming seems to have been woven throughout this area. Brilliant!

Ride wait times and restrictions. If you cant read the small print, thats 81cm or 32"

The white rings are meant to represent those sticky hole punch reinforcers, which Andy has used to hold his sign together.

You'll notice that the army camp is called "Fort Emery". This is a reference to Emeryville, where the Pixar Animation studios are based.

As the first CM welcomes you to the attraction, you will see here the baby monitor, which the soldier is using to communicate and check that Andy doesnt come back and find them. He actually talks - in both English and French.

The queue line weaves in and out and past this plastic toy army truck...

Finally you make it into the hangar which has been decked out with lots of plastic army set toys, like desks and storage areas...

Although this area might look quite simple - look again. The imagineers attention to detail means that all wiring and cabling needed for lighting, air conditioning fans and the like are ducted and hidden from view.

Finally on to the ride itself.

A CM will monitor for groups of 36 - as the ride has 6 parachutes, each carrying 6 guests.

You can see more plastic toy theming on the sides.

On the floor, the landing spot will be a white star in a circle, and high powered lighting and LEDs will light up the underside of the parachute.

All parachutes are lifted together and the ride lasts around 60 seconds, as it does not just one drop, but at least 2.

Sarge has stationed himself near the control tower and will shout both a countdown to the drop as well as instructions to keep an eye out for Andy. Again, this is voiced in both English and French and it has been confirmed that the English version has been voiced by R Lee Ermey, the original actor from the movies.
