Paying for villa rental
When renting a villa though a person and not a company is there a safe option if the renter doesn't accept credit card payments
Don't want to bank transfer of send a cheque as I have no security If you pay the deposit and then pay the balance nearer the time using a credit card via paypal will this enable you to get your money back should the renter go bust or fail to deliver the accom or issue a refund. I believe there is buyer protection with paypal but would this cover your transaction as PayPal is classed as a service and not a payment |
PayPal does not offer the same protection as a credit card under section75 as PayPal treats the payment as a service and not goods even though you have used your CC you have used a 3rd party processer to make the payment, might be worth contacting PayPal to see what there refund policy is in this case.
As to a safe payment options there really is no safe options just ones that give you a better level of getting some money back if needed. Steve |
Also check your insurance.
My cancellation insurance doesn't pay out if I book a villa privately and they sell up or keep my deposit for whatever reason. Naturally it makes sense as I could easily say I booked a villa and pay my friend then say he/she went bust. It's a scary time between final balance payment and getting the keys on arrival. |
Yes it's to much of a risk so will stick with my booking direct with universal
