TRON Lightcycle Power Run
In a brand new area next to Space Mountain in the Magic Kingdom Disney will be building a brand new ride, 'TRON Lightcycle Power Run' This ride is currently the most popular ride at Shanghai Disneyland. The plan is to open the Tron attraction in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
A new attraction is coming to Disney Hollywood Studios, 'Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway'. On Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, you’ll step through the movie screen and join Mickey and his friends like never before. The attraction will put you inside the wacky and unpredictable world of a Mickey Mouse Cartoon Short where you’re the star and anything can happen. This zany out-of-control adventure features surprising twists and turns, dazzling visual effects and mind-boggling transformations that happen before your very eyes.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will feature a new story and a new singable attraction theme song as well as a new experience that Disney are calling "2 1/2 D." No glasses required.

The new home of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be at the Chinese Theatre in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, August 13, 2017 will be the final day of operation for The Great Movie Ride.

Disney Skyliner
A while back we reported on a new Gondola transport system coming to Walt Disney World. This has now been confirmed with the name of Disney Skyliner.

The transportation system will connect Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century and Caribbean Beach resorts and other locations with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot. And many of the gondolas with Disney Skyliner will feature favorite Disney characters.

Another new transportation service featuring vehicles themed to the one-and-only Minnie Mouse was also announced during the Walt Disney presentation at D23 Expo 2017.

“Since we’re all about exceeding guest expectations and making every aspect of your vacation uniquely Disney, we’re creating a new point-to-point transportation service in a way that only Disney can do,” Bob said.

The Minnie vehicles will take you everywhere you want to go at the Walt Disney World Resort, and you’ll ride in Minnie’s classic style.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' & 'Ratatouille' Attractions Coming to Epcot
Epcot will receive two new attractions based on the films Guardians of the Galaxy and Ratatouille. Ratatouille to be built in an expanded area of France Pavilion in World Showcase. The new attraction will be similar to the attraction of the same name that exists in Disneyland Paris and is scheduled to open in time for the 50th Anniversary in 2021

A "Guardians of the Galaxy"-inspired attraction will be added to Future World, adhering to the original vision of Epcot’s Future World as the place to experience the excitement and adventure offered by space travel.

Guardians of the Galaxy will replace the current Universe of Energy attraction, which will close August 13, 2017

New Theater Inspired By Kansas City’s Willis Wood Theater To Debut at Walt Disney World Resort
A new venue for world-class entertainment is coming to Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom Park.

Probably because those posts contain editorial to appear on the front page of TheDibb, historically on all internet forums; only administrators post in the news and announcement forums.

I'm excited for all of this, but another ride closing at dhs before the new stuff opens? Seems like bad planning.

So excited at all the news coming out of the D23 expo, due to fly home today after our 6th Magical visit and already thinking of 2019. So many reasons to keep coming back.:pgig::pgig:

Its very strange to close The Great Movie ride before Toy Story land opens. There is going to be literally nothing there in Hollywood Studios when we go in September. Its going to be like 2 hours and we are done. Such a shame

Fantastic news, great to see Disney Investing so much over the next 5 years after under investing in the parks for a while. In regards to HS, Disney want all the work done at HS by end of 2019 so they can fully relaunch the park, (likely with a new name). In an ideal world they might have done some of the projects earlier ie toy story land and Great Movie land replacement, but the finance for them wasn't in place and without the financial go ahead they cant happen. I would rather do what they are doing, much like they did at California Adventure and get all the work done and out of the way now, rather than open up stars wars land in 2019 with big construction walls around the centre of the park.

We didn't ride the great movie ride on our last trip and still had plenty to keep us busy from around 12pm-7.30pm close.

There is always going to be construction going on somewhere in the parks its just the way it is and always will be as the parks continue to add new stuff. Epcot is going to end up with construction boards everywhere as they reimagine the park (from the Arial view concept future world looks very different) but will be worth it when its all done. In all our visits we have never let construction and closed attractions affect our holiday.

Also expect lots of construction soon at Universal as well its expected Dragon Challenge will close latter this year so they can start work on a new Forbidden Forrest ride and the kids area next to ET at the studios is likely to close soon so they can start work on Nintendo land ready to open in 2021.

Hm, there's a difference between there always being construction and leaving a theme park with only 4 rides open. No matter how many shows there are, 4 rides is pathetic.
