Barcelona

I’v been looking for a fairly last minute few days away in the sun that doesn’t cost the earth. I came across flights to Barcelona for £60 each return, but hotels seem quite expensive (2a 2c). Does anyone know of any areas just outside Barcelona which have better hotel prices?

We have booked flights to Barcelona for Aug,we booked a apartment with Airbnb just outside Salou, close to beach. We booked it in September.

We were there a few weeks ago, stayed in the centre of Barcelona at he Hotel Barcelona Centre, it wasn't too bad price wise and come in at about £400 for 5 nights.

To be honest, it was a great location, close to the shops and plenty of restaurants nearby.

Have you tried looking at British airways flight and hotel, we went in May, 4 of us for around £700 for 3 nights, we stayed quite close to the centre and used the metro to get around which was really easy.

We stayed in the Poblenou area, was outside of the main town but only a few stops on the underground. It was right on the beach.

That website was very helpful planning our trip

I went to Barcelona a few years ago with my SILs and we booked an apartment with Habitat. Worked out cheaper than a hotel for us.

Salou is approx 90 miles away with Reus being the better airport. I would imagine to get there you'd have to hire a car incurring extra costs.

The host of our apartment has suggested a train and is helping us with all the booking. Easy Jet didn't fly into Reus, our flights were very cheap so don't mind travelling a little.

If you are going to stay in Salou get the train or bus from BCN. The train stops running in the evening time so keep that in mind, we arrived about 8:30 pm a couple of weeks ago and got Bus Plana from Terminal 2 to Salou for €16.90 each.

We got the train from Salou to Barcelona and stayed a few days in a nice hotel on La Rambla, it wasn't cheap but what we saved on the Salou hotel we felt we could push the budget a bit here and it was worth it. We got the Aerobus back to the airport from Barcelona for €5.90 each.
