Sights,Bites and Maltese Delights. Malta Oct 21. Day 4. A very foody day.

Saturday 2 October

Another morning of being woken up by the mossie bites :(

We are being feasted on:erm:

We later saw that when the room was being cleaned the balcony doors were left open so we reckon the little blighters were coming in and lying in wait for us. :nonono:

You could see blotchy bites on everyone elses legs as you walked past them - so at least it wasnt just us . Andy had even bought some tonic water at the supermarket in a bid to up his quinine levels:thumbs-up

There was a thunderstorm, with a bit of lightning and a short downpour.

It meant everyone headed for breakfast at the same time and it was very busy but by now I had definitely upped my buffet game and was managing to assemble a reasonable selection

The rain stopped around 11 and we headed down to the pool - lots of loungers available and we spied one of the wooden cabins was also free .

It was so fab that we ended up camping out here most days for the rest of the trip - it was more sheltered and more comfy than the pool loungers. :D

And here we stayed for the rest of the day . Making good progress on our books - I was almost at the end of Bring Up The Bodies and Andy almost at the end of I Am A Drug Lord. Eclectic book choices :pgig:

I had an apple margarita again but it wasn’t as nice as the first one. :(

We headed up to the terrace around 4 for drinks - I had the most delicious Barbados .

and an equally delicious cannoli

We did make it to sundowners and played canapé roulette

But I didn’t write down what we had as it suddenly came on to rain really heavily and we ran inside and sat in the lobby waiting for our car into town.

Dinner tonight was at the very popular Biancos .

The rain was tipping down now and it was literally a river running down the hill. I did well not to put my foot in this puddle on getting out of the car

As we were on our way down Andy got a call to say that his wallet had been left on the table in the hotel lobby :omg: and someone had very kindly handed it in to the concierge.:thumbs-up Phew !

And thank goodness for Apple Pay

What a fab place Bianco’s was. The welcome was so warm and authentic and the place was buzzing.

As we were early diners there were a few empty tables but it soon filled up .

No cocktails so we shared a bottle of Malbec.

Also shared a bruschetta starter.

One was salami and mozarella-so creamy and the other mushroom and pesto. Very nice.

I had the Garganelli for my main.

It was steaming hot. So much so that even at the end steam was still coming out of it . It was delicious.

Andy had calzone . It was humungous.

Barely fit the plate.

We were regretting the starter now ! So much food.

I did manage to leave some room for dessert. The Mamas Nutella cake.

Very similar to tiramisu but richer

We had such a great time here. The atmosphere and food were both brilliant and we said we would definitely come back.
And what a great price :D

The hotel car picked us up around 9. It was still raining although not as heavily as before . We collected Andy’s wallet and decided against a nightcap in the bar as it was really busy .

The thunder and rain carried on for quite a bit so we are hoping it will blow over by the morning...

Looks like today was great and thank goodness for someone’s honesty and handing in Andy’s wallet.

The food at Bianco’s looks fabulous! 😋

Biancos was fab. We went back there for our last night and it was just as good.

That Barbados is right up my street! Ooh it looks delicious!
Shame about the rain but your dinner sounds and looks divine, and so cheap too! That would have cost double back home :omg:

The wooden cabin does look comfy I can see why you chose to go back to the same spot even day.

Dinner looked delicious too, the starters and Andy's calzone in particular.

It was one of my faves and I had it again our last day. The rain was a bit like Florida - sudden , heavy and cleared quickly !
