Madeira

Considering Madeira for a week in October. Anyone been? Would you recommend it for a chill out week? Any must see and do's? :)

We love Madeira we have stayed at the Porto bay complex which is about 20 minute walk from the centre of town and the pestana casino over looking the harbour. It's such a lovely town and plenty of walking to be down. We have down a couple of trips up the cable carts to the tropical and biblical gardens and taken in a lovely we church in monte. The city is lovely to just walking around and explore and loose yourself down all the alley ways. Plenty of good food in Madeira and a lot of fine dinning that do 3 course meals with wine pairings for around 35 euros. Our favourites are restaurant de forte, Goya, Chris's, Nagoya, the ritz to name a few. It's about a 15/20 minute journey from the airport to the town centre. Any questions feel free to fire away.

We stayed in a villa when we went and had a car - there are some spectacular views around the island it really is beautiful though of course no good if you like beahces. We also did the cable car (and the waterpark as we had children with us).
