Any Great Dane owners?

We're thinking of adopting one for our second dog, we have a St Bernard & would like another dog of similar size & temperament.

Any stories, advice etc gratefully received. :)

We have had Great Danes, for over 30 years. We love them. they are funny, loving, gentle, soppy, big babies. They have all been excellent with our children, from babies to adults. We haven't got one at present as we are hoping to spend more time in Florida, but as soon as we can't travel so much we are getting another. We have had had both male and female, I prefer males. Do get one you'll love them

My mum had two when I was little, all I have is good memories of them they were my best friends. I think they are like any dog, if they are given love and care they return it. You are obviously used to big dogs, it would be just making sure the two get on

Thank you ladies, they sound adorable and so similar in temperament to saints,

We've registered with the national Great Dane rescue & the St Bernard trust also, now just got to wait for the right one for us. :)

I used to live with a friend who had 2 rescue Great Danes. They were lovely dogs and very easy to handle (except at the vets - they would lie down outside the door and it would take 2 nurses to carry one in!).
One of them came from a very abusive home and even he was lovely, never growled at anyone.
