BA - cancelled flight - race to Heathrow

I’m not normally one to vent, but I need to on this occasion.

After a 330 day countdown, travel day has become an absolute nightmare. We were due on the 12.10 from Manchester to Miami and as we were in the line checking in we were informed the flight was cancelled! No email or text or even a BA manager telling people. They let us all walk up to the counter only to tell us there is no flight.

So... how do we make the 4.10 to Miami whilst standing at Manchester airport at 10.30. BA simply told us to make our own way if we wanted to make the flight. No arranged services, no advice on refunds and claiming expenses. Nothing!

4 train changes to make it to LHR T3. On train 2 of 4 (first train delayed so meant we missed our planned second train to Euston). 4 suitcases, 3 rucksacks and 2 kids under 6.

I doubt we will make our flight to Miami. Meaning we will probably miss our whole Miami section of the holiday. If nothing else gets delayed we should make the Miami flight. But so many dependencies!

Good luck. That is a nightmare and I can’t believe BA aren’t responsible for anything 😧

That’s awful hope you make it on time and this becomes a funny story to look back on. Fingers crossed for you

Thanks. Looking at my countdown ticker is making me sad! 7 mins would have been on our flight to London and then smoothly to miami. Instead I’m on a train heading to London with all this luggage and two tired kids, with odds lower than 50/50 that we make the flight.

Good luck!

From Euston are you hopping in a cab or walking (ten minutes) to Kings X and then getting the Direct train to Gatwick ? Both make more sense than the tube .

We did this journey yesterday and feel for you. I am horrified to hear BA aren't under any obligation to assist you getting to the Miami flight. I do hope your trains work out or at the least you get some support at Heathrow. Let us know how you get on.

We had a nightmare ( not as much as you) with BA from MAN - LHR - YUL ( Canada).
The flight to LHR was so late we had to be taken off the flight first, rush through and get on the plane to YUL as they were closing the gate down. WE arrived our luggage didn't.
BA weren't great we only found out luggage wasn't there when we arrived and another flights bags came onto the carousel. They gave us £100 to buy clothes etc However this was for 4 of us on a skiing holiday with only the things we were wearing on a specialised holiday.
The tour operator didn't want to know either. = holiday ruined !
