Taking Wedding Dress on Virgin Atlantic Flight

Having bought a wedding dress box Virgin have now told me I can only take my dress in the cabin if I buy one of their own dress boxes. Needless to say I'm now stressing that the box arrives before we leave home. 😁

What! None sense, as long as the box is the right size for cabin baggage you can take what you want! I took mine in my box in May, they asked if I wanted it hanging up but I left it packed away.

Are they offering this an extra baggage? I used my carry on baggage allowance for the dress in my own box that fitted the dimensions of hang luggage, but it was not checked.

All the wedding dress boxes are all the same size and all within cabin baggage allowance. Also Virgin won't know if it's one of theirs or another companies. Seems it's just a Virgin agent trying to make more money.
We flew Aer Lingus and the cabin crew turned a blind eye to extra baggage when we were boarding. They even allowed me to board first and closed the overhead locker so no one else could store anything in it

Virgin told me to pack my dress in a box and they will hang if they can and that I can take in addition to hand luggage

I have checked with them 3 times to be sure and each time the answer has been the same and never even mentioned buyng a box from them, I didnt know they sold one

We are flying Sept 9th from Man getting married on 14th :-)

when i looked into the viergin boxes is said you could only buy one if you are having a wedding booked through them! def think someone is trying to make extra money as their boxes are expensive.

hope you get sorted, its nice to know they let you have it as well as hand luggage, do they charge for this?

xx

If you're looking at buying a wedding dress box I highly recommend this company http://www.lifememoriesbox.co.uk/
It's the same size as all the airline dress boxes. It also included plenty of tissue paper for wrapping your dress and a hanger

Just put it in a cabin suitcase?

I took mine on a hanger in it's bag with BA and the crew hung it up for me
