June 2013- Honeymoon Day 5 Universal & Hard rock hotel

Travel day Day 1 Magic kingdom Day 2 legoland Day 3 Animal kingdom Day 4 Downtown disney / magic show Day 5 – We were up early showered , changed and straight out as we had a character breakfast reservation at 8am at universal, we arrived at Hard rock hotel at 7.20 and parked using the valet parking,this is the great guitar fountain outside Hard rock hotel http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373135437 we checked in and got fast passes after tech issue with the fast pass machine ,some great rock memrobilia in reception area http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373135564 suprisingly our room was ready :grin: so we quickly dumped case in the room,seemed a nice quality room with 2 large beds but how you can stay in a room like that for two weeks after the size and space of our condo i dont know ! We asked at reception what the fats way to loewes royal pacific was as thats where our charcter breakfast was booked, we were told toget a black cab free of charge up to £12,50 from outside the hard rock which we did and just had to pay the driver a tip, we arrived at 5 to 8 perfect timing for our 8am reservation- breakfast was really good buffet of pancakes, cereal,pastries, fruit, cakes etc and then you could order a main from the menu , i ordered cheese omelette wth hash browns which was really good and on table was the smallest ketchup bottle ever- http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373136549 The kids had pancakes and cereal,the first characters to come round were gru and a minion they were great and really good interaction sitting at peoples tables and spending good time with people my boys played minion bowling with a minion which they loved, lok at th elittle minion bowling skittles thay had to hit http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373136725 http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373135714 http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373136012 The next characters were from Hop which kids loved and again really good interaction alot better than the disney characters at the breakfast at crystal palace a few days ago http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373136927 the bill was $89 for 2 adults and 2 children but really was worth it , it was 9am so off we went on the water taxi to Universal http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373137009 we quickly and easily exchanged our e ticket at the ticket desk and we were in,we went straight to the new transformers ride , it was a week before it was due to open but it was open with dry runs to practise the ride out :grin::grin: http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373137114 The outside of this buliding is immense and real feature in the universal park We got on with just a 10 minute wait , some great themeing in the queing area http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373137352 The ride is really good but really just a replica to spiderman but still amazing, although it was a bit scary for owen, ben really wanted to go on his first upside down roller coaster and off me and him went to rip ride rockit,it was great having the express passes we only waited 5 mins, what a great ride i love having the choice of music and ben really loved it and this was now his new favourite ride, it is a lot longer coaster than you think its going to be and really fast. http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373137554 while Leanne and owen went to look at the fast and furious cars from the recent film http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373137735 universal fast pass were a god send today so me and ben went on rip rockit coaster again with 5 mins wait evenesance was great music to ride . We quck photo with Scooby doo http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373137894 We then went to descbicible me ride – regular line was showing 50 mins we were on in 10 mins with the fast passes what a great ride and this was owens favourite of the entire holiday infact we would go on this 3 times in total over the 3 days! ben loved the dance party at the end of the ride heres the boys doing gangham style with the minion http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373138020 me and ben did the mummy ride ben hated it because of the scary skeletons i think this is a great themed ride, continued in next post |

we then waited 10 mins to get a pic with optimus prime, you had to stand a couple of meters in front of him in front of the line on the floor so never got to actually touch him / interact like you do with the other characters in the parks, which was a bit of a let down
http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373138131 Ben and owen spotted one of the favourite characters squidwith http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373138353 -and then onto owens all time favourite spongebob- in the spongbob shop we bought owen a spongebob frame to put in his bedroom when he got home which he loves -what a great themed shop this was with the giant pineapple house etc http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373138475 We went to the Simpsons area which i was really looking foward too, the simpsons ride was really good but that building is and always will be back to future to me, we then went to moes:grin::grin::grin: http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373138586 the theming in the simpsons are is amazing we went and had lunch in Krusty burger food court-i had a flaming moes which was like a bubbling smoking orangeade a great novalty drink and you get to keep the cup http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373139005 I had a great hot dog, owen had a hot dog, Leanne krusty burger and ben cheese pizza all really good for theme park fast food infact probably the best quick service we had in any park on our holiday http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373139077 We also gota lard lad donut to share http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373139251 We sat in moes bar to eat our lunch , it was Fantastic that staff were putting reserved signs on tables and only letting people sit on tables who had allready purchased there food Me and ben went on Men in black which was ok and then we went back to hard rock hotel at about 3pm for couple of hours in pool, this was great to be able to nip back to the hotel for a swim and chill, kids loved the water slide , ben joined in a air guitar compatiton at the side of the pool and was good fun http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373139344 the pool area was loud and busy and bit would be too full on to stay there 2 weeks but good for a day or so. We went back to room and changed heres ben and own in the room at Hard rock http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373139725 We walked back to Universal that took all of 5 minutes- we went to nascar restauraunt for a meal and used kids eat free crad for the first time good food and price was $33 which was really good value kids had chicken tenders leanne had grilled chicken sandwich carnt remember what i had but all the food was good and great value with the kids eat free cards -owen had his hairy spiky tonight and everone we walked past was commenting on it how good it loked do they not have hair spiked in america becuause everyone was making a fuss over it ? http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/atta...1&d=1373139888 we took the kids on the woody woodpecker coaster that owen loved before watching i universals cinematic nighttime spectacular at 9pm- what a boring nighttime show i have more fireworks on bonfire night! kids we bored and so was i to be honest come on universal sort your nighttime show out! not a patch on the disney fireworks and really the only thing that was a let down today at universal, we walked back to hotel and got to bed tied at 10ish- it was a expensive food day bu hey its our honeymoon and we had a really great day. What a great day, loving the breakfast characters . Bit of a let down with optimus, they let you get closer in hollywood for sure ! Super day, loving HRH.

great day. Looks like we were in there around the same time, We got on the Transformers ride the week before it opened too. And looks like we sat at the same table in Moe's Tavern too - except they took my Flaming Moe glass away while they were cleaning. :(

Great day - the donut looks awesome, I'll definitely be having one :D
I also think Universal's character breakfasts are better than Disney's, we went to one at Cafe la Bamba last November. |
What a great day. Your boys look like they are really enjoying it.
We loved the interaction with the characters at Universal's Café la Bamba last year - was fab dancing with the minions. They spend so much more time with you than they do at Disney. Can't wait to try a Lard Lad donut :tongue: |
