Florida 2019 - it‘s here at last - Day 9

Up at 7.00 to make pancakes for the crew. By 9.00 am we were ready to go to Kennedy Space Center. Steven had been up all night with an upset stomach and without wanting to be too graphic, he didn't want to be too far away from a loo. So it was another day in the villa for him.

We set the satnav up and headed on our way. Getting to KSC around 10.15. It was a hot one today. We paid our $10 for parking and headed for bag check and the ticket entrance. We had a bit of a heart-stopping moment when our tickets wouldn't scan, the lady wasn't for believing that we'd not already used our one day entry. However, with a bit of help from a colleague, it turns out that we bought the tickets in June and they got a new system in July which wasn't recognising the bar code! He sorted it for us and we headed to the rocket garden.

After a wander through here we opted for the bus tour. A bit like the safari at AK, I'm not sure how much Tyler actually saw of the tour, but he seemed to enjoy it. We got off at the Saturn V exhibit and had a good look around, the kids were very impressed to be able to touch a piece of the moon. We also had some food in the cafe here as it was around 12.30 by now. We finished looking around and headed back to the bus. We got off and went into the Atlantis exhibit. I love the reveal in here, however, there were technical difficulties so it didn't work the way it should at the end, a bit disappointing but it is still amazing to be so close to a real live space shuttle.

We had a good look around, Ben took Tyler to do the Shuttle Experience, and then we went into the shop where Ben bought a cap and a t-shirt. We headed back towards the rocket garden and Lilly had a play in the kids area.

By now it was just after 4.00 and decided it was time to head back, hoping for some pool time. However, at 5.00 we got stuck in traffic on the I4 and it added a whole half hour to the journey time, we didn't get back till just after 6.00.

Steven was feeling a wee bit better but not quite ready to go out for food so we opted for McDs. We nipped down the road to collect the order (the slowest fast food service ever) and on biting into my Big Mac, I discovered no patties in it, and Stevie's was the same, so back in the car and back to McDs. The manager was very apologetic and got us 2 fresh ones.

Back to the villa we had a couple of drinks and watched some Still Game on Netflix before bed about 11.00.
