Highlander Day8 Hoover Dam/Hockey

For cast please see day 1

Thursday 23rd October
A decent nights sleep tonight up around 7am, we get breakfast from lobby and take back to our room, we are due to get picked up at 9:30am for our Hoover Dam Tour and it arrives on time, the shuttle drops you at Planet Hollywood Hotel for the tour check in, I paid an extra $33 ($11 each) for the additional tour at the dam, it takes an hour to get to the dam on the coach, what can I say about the Dam apart from its spectacular, we have two hours at the Dam, which was just about right for us, we saw the Imax film first then had a tour down to the turbines and get a guided tour of the tunnels, after this we still have an hour to explore and we walk across the dam taking many pics on the way, we also buy our Hoover Dam pic of the three of us and have a lunch of sandwich and juice in the cafe

After the tour bus leaves the dam it stops at the overlook for lake Mead and you get really great views of the lake from here and the Marina

on the return to Las Vegas the coach stops at Ethel M's chocolate factory store where we get a tour and two free samples, I part with $60 for gourmet chocolates and strawberries for Jacquie and Danny

the strawberries never lasted the journey back to Vegas but they both assured me they where worth the dosh, we got dropped off at Excalibur on the way back rather than waiting for shuttles etc, I lost $20 here in slots but they did have pole dancers to ease the pain (what would Arthur say), once back at the hotel Jacquie went to the pool while I read my book on the balcony with a vodka or two, tonight at the managers reception they had pasta, chicken nuggets and a sweet and sour sauce plus the usual beer, wine and juice, due to this fact we never actually had a meal tonight but ate up these snacks, we then got a taxi to the Orleans for the hockey tonight it cost $13 in a taxi incl tip, the match tonight was Ontario Reign against Las Vegas Wranglers las vegas lost the match but the locals had great patter slagging off the opposition, our seats where on the ice behind the visiting team, the one thing that surprised me was that the merchandise was more expensive than at the Rangers match in NYC, I have to say it wasn't a great match but I dfid have fun banging the glass against the other team although Jacquie and Danny said I was drunk which although true still made it a fun night

after the game I lost more cash, then won some cash yeah me, as we left the casino a shuttle bus was just leaving and it dropped us at Bills on the strip, from Bills we headed to Paris and went up on one of the last elevators of the night to the observation deck of the tower using our power passes, the views are great here and its not as windy as the real thing either

we then get some ice cream as we walk along the strip at 1am eating our ice creams and one of our party(no names) had an alcoholic drink I think ;)

The Hoover Dam is my favourite Vegas day out :) I didn't realise you could go up the Paris. It's something on our to do list for next time :D
