Meet the cast

Me - Maria, 38, will eat pretty much anything but sweet things are my weakness, I like to try new things, don’t love seafood that much, I love the odd cocktail. I recently lost quite a fair amount of weight so I’m going to be eating whatever I like on this trip with the expectation I will put on some weight.

DH- Dan, 43, Isn’t a fan of spicy or exotic flavours, is happier with burgers, mac and cheese, likes beer flights, desserts and simpler flavours.

Things we’ve eaten before and are looking forward to

NBC - Cheese curds - love these things - they come in a crispy batter with a tomato sauce and are lush

Cowfish - Pretty much the majority of the burgers on the menu and the buffalos and bourbon cocktail is lovely

Pterodactyl Pizza - We always get a brookie from this pizza stand it’s a hybrid cookie and brownie and always delicious

Florian Fortiscues - Always worth a trip in, wont be trying the Butterbeer flavour again as it was a bit disappointing

California Grill - We love it here but haven’t been back since the new chef from Jiko has taken over - we have high hopes and I already know I’ll be ordering the filet Mignon

Dole Whip from Magic Kingdom - I’m tempted to try the version on the pineapple upside down cake this time

Next our must eats and new places we are visiting...

Thanks for the love guys, I’m getting really excited now for the trip, and the food is a big part of it, I’ll be putting my first post up on 4th September from a Premier inn and the really yummy food will start filtering in (hopefully on a daily basis) from the 5th September.

Since I wrote the list I’ve spotted a few items of interest that I’m going to try and squeeze in

Worms and Dirt dessert at Mickeys not so scary
Chocolate hazelnut pop tart with candied bacon in Toy story land
Cheeseburger spring rolls - Magic Kingdom

I may add more 😬

Pre Travel Day - Premier Inn Manchester Airport

Good Evening from the Premier Inn at Manchester aiport, we’re really excitied for our trip to Orlando tomorrow and have just been for tea at the Thyme restaurant which is attached to the hotel. The hotel in itself was really good value for money at £67 and a 5 minute taxi from the terminal.

The menu has a Spanish theme for specials along with the standard fare which you can find at premier inn restaurants, we went in at 5pm and were seated straight away.

For drinks Dan had a Becks Blue (He’s not drinking due to medication) and I had a glass of Rose

For dinner Dan ordered a bacon cheese burger, Dan said this was average, he didn’t eat the top of the burger as it was a bit too crunchy, other than that all ok.

I had the Skewer Platter which was Chicken and Chorizo skewers and Lamb kofta with tzikky sauce, hummus and flatbread, I asked for fries instead of rice, the chicken was ok but the chorizo was a bit burnt, the koftas ok but the rest a little bland

Dan and I shared a pudding - we got the chocolate orange crownie it was quite tasty and easily the best part of the meal, was a bit like a chocolate orange brownie with chocolate sauce and ice cream

Total came to just short of £40 and we’d give the meal a collective 5/10 - not a great start but we’re sure there are many more great meals to come
