Parks, Pins, Puke, Pennies...Not Enough Planning - April / May 2017
Introduction
Welcome to my 2017 trip report. Hopefully you know who we are by now as this is my sixth trippie (links to the others at the bottom of the thread if you'd like to catch up with our previous Florida / New York holidays) but here's a quick introduction to the cast: Here's us on South Beach in Miami on day one of the holiday: https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4190/3...001c97279d.jpg We are: Me, Michelle (38, Disney / Florida lover, chief planner, perfectionist and drill sergeant which can make for stressful moments on our trips) DH, Mat (40, converted Disney / Florida lover, goes along with what I tell him re Florida holidays) DD1, Seren (10 when we left, turned 11 on the trip, Disney and Harry Potter fanatic who still loves all the character meets etc) DD2, Freya (9, Disney and Harry Potter fanatic, our little free spirit) You can read all the background to the trip in the pre-trip report but to summarise, this holiday was two years in the making after we had to cancel our 2016 trip. The plans went through many iterations that even I struggled to keep up with, but in the end we went with: BA flights to / from Miami / Heathrow One night at the Kimpton Angler's Hotel in South Beach Two nights at the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Six nights at Cabana Bay Beach Resort at Universal Seven nights at Disney's Boardwalk Villas We had a fantastic holiday, and the new title reflects many of the major themes of the trip. Although the title sounds pretty negative, we really did have a fab time and the puke and lack of planning didn't really have much of an impact on how much fun we had :). Here we go then: Pre-trip Report Summary and Highs / Not-So-Highs Day 0 - Pre-travel Day - Travel to Heathrow Day 1: Travel to Miami and South Beach Day 2: Drive to Orlando, Islands of Adventure and Margaritaville Day 3: Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios, NBC Grill and Sal's Market Deli Day 4: Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios, Check-in to Cabana Bay, Disney Springs and Magic Kingdom Day 5: Animal Kingdom, Cabana Bay, Raglan Road and Disney Springs Day 6: Typhoon Lagoon, Premium Outlets, Super Target, Bahama Breeze and Hollywood Studios Day 7: Epcot, Cheesecake Factory, American Girl, Cabana Bay and Epcot Day 8: Animal Kingdom, Tusker House and Disney Springs Day 9: Disney Springs, Blaze Pizza and House of Blues Day 10: Magic Kingdom, Be Our Guest and The Boahouse Day 11: Early Morning Magic, Ample Hills Creamery and Epcot Day 12: Hollywood Studios, Bahama Breeze and Magic Kingdom Day 13: Winter Summerland, Magic Kingdom and Tony's Town Square Day 14: Ohana Breakfast, Monorail Resorts and Disney Springs Day 15: Seren's birthday :) Magic Kingdom, Cinderella's Royal Table, Crystal Palace and Winter Summerland Day 16: California Grill Brunch, Epcot, Raglan Road and Disney Springs Day 17: Bon Voyage Breakfast, Fantasia Gardens and Heading Home :( |
