Question about Insurance with Alamo through Virgin..

After speaking to Virgin today querying an outstanding balance on my booking with Alamo, she confirmed I have chose to have Third Party and not fully Inclusive Insurance on the car with Alamo. Clearly a silly mistake by me. They want £670 extra! Does this sound like a ridiculous price? I've booked full size SUV. Would it be cheaper to pay when I get to Orlando and deal with Alamo? Confused...:confused2

I think that seems to be the going rate for a full SUV if your flying out 14 July for two weeks. I would spend a bit of time check other car rental sites and see if you can book car hire with insurance for less and then not pick the VH car rental up. This is what I did last year. Do you need a full size suv a standard suv is only £458 I have booked this many times before knowing I would be happy with this car however I’ve been fortunate to be upgraded free of charge to full size when I get there and walk down the row. Just don’t expect it so if you need full size you best book full size.

OP. Martyn has summed up the situation well.

I would be onto Virgin and trying to haggle them as their own website for a 'stand alone' hire for your dates supplying a fully insured and ready to go car is:-
Standard SUV £435.59
Full Size SUV £658.75

Andy at discountfloridacarhire can do a Full size for £640!

also not a silly mistake by you, I assume you booked car as part of package and they do this to make the price look better.

Shop around and see if you can get a better price on a standalone booking but unfortunately you may be a little to late now to get a decent deal

I fell for the same thing with VH. Thankfully the helpful dibbers pointed me to DFCH and I saved a packet.
