Sept flights

Want certain dates to fly out to Orlando, have virgin atlantic miles and a companion flight
Which would you do premium both ways or economy classic out and upper class return ( never done the upper class trip before)

So to make sure you get the flights you want can you reserve the outward flight when it becomes available then when the return becomes available 2 weeks later confirm the outward and at the same time book the return.

I personally wouldn't do upper class return. The lounge in Orlando is rubbish and thats part of the experience in my opinion. I would do upper out and then economy back if you were determined to do upper. I would however probably do premium both ways and then at least you get 2 cases on both journeys.

I prefer upper coning back as the seat becomes a flat bed and I actually get some sleep. I can't sleep at all in a normal seat.

you have 2 different answers so it's about what you value more, the flat bed and the sleep coming home or the experience of the lounge and the dining and the service on the way out.

Yeah I should add I don't think the bed is comfortable as a bed so for me that's not a bonus coming back but agree I think that's what you have to weigh up.

Would you ring the flying club to book the outward and explain you want to reserve it until the returns become available 2 weeks later as you want to use your miles and companion flight.

Or would you book the outward on the website and ring 2 weeks later to add the return or would this work out more expensive

I don't like the hot food in upper, too posh for me. The sweet stuff is nice though.

Having done all 3 classes both ways with Virgin, I would do Upper out and Economy back.

As mentioned, I feel the lounge is a big part of the experience, plus it makes the whole travel out day more exciting. I have also found the food to always be better on the UK to USA leg, regardless of airline and class.

I'd then just make do with Economy on the way back.

All pre-covid I must add though, so not exactly sure what the score is currently in that regard.

Have a look at this thread there may be a couple of hints

I’m sure we were directed to the Delta lounge at MCO when we flew back UC, which was perfectly acceptable - far better than the Club lounge BA use. Have you priced up PE out and UC back?
