Howling @ the Horror 2015 - Day 7 - Discovery Cove

Back to Day 6

Happy Birthday Mr Wobble

As it was Mr's Wobble's birthday and as it was Columbus Day, we had a lazy, chilled day planned...

... Then the alarm went off at 6am and we crawled out of bed, showered and headed off to Discovery Cove. We wanted to get there for 7.15am to make the most of our day.

I had wanted to go here since we started going to Florida but Mr W was not keen, however I had been able to sell SeaVenture to him and with him the rest of the park.

We were booked in by 7.30 and I was given a blue lanyard, Mr W was given a red, we didn't realise the importance of this until people starting to wish him a very happy birthday... He immediately wanted to swap :-)

We enjoyed breakfast, the queues weren't too bad and the food was filling and plentiful. Taking the advice from this site, we headed to Aviary. We were almost in there on our owns first thing in the morning but it gave us a chance to feed some of the birds and find out about them.

After spending an enjoyable time in there, we took the back route out via the lazy river before getting changed to head around for our SeaVenture experience.

If you have never done SeaVenture - do it! its amazing, I didn't feel at all claustrophobic and we saw so much under the water, here are just a few shots from our experience.

Although SeaVenture is only about 30 minutes long, if feels a lot longer and we enjoyed finding out about the fish and marine animals and the feeling of weightlessness. The helmets are not as restrictive as they may look!

We spent the rest of day in around the Grand Reef or the Wind-Away River. I am amazed at how much there is to do and how little time you spend sitting on your chairs, its so relaxing that you don't realise you are on the go all of the time. We also enjoyed the food, which I know a lot of people don't but we even had a couple of beers.

Mr W got to play with his water camera, which kept him happy and even I overcame my fear of snorkling, which is a brilliant step forward.

We left it as late as possible before heading to get our pictures, having had a brilliant day, we would recommend Discovery Cove to everyone, its really difficult to put it into words, so I hope my pictures do this justice.

As we didn't feel like doing much this evening, we decided to head to Celebration for a drink and a slice of Cake at the Market Street Cafe. I don't know if they were having a bad day but we saw people walking out refusing to pay due to the quality of service and one customer almost loose it over the time it took between half of his table to be served and the rest. We found it (very) slow but the food was as good as ever, so we would go back.

e had a lovely walk around the lake before heading back for a earlish night

I thought I would be scared but there are about 5 members of staff in with your group of 8 or 9 so you can pull out at anytime
