Should I be worried booking Miami hotel?

Does anyone know how badly Miami was affected by Irma? Looking to book a hotel for next Aug when we fly in to Miami(which is a long time away at least) Looks like there was a lot of flooding but how badly were the hotels around the airport affected?

I have no idea about the impact Irma had on the airport hotels. However we stayed at the Hilton on blue lagoon drive, was literally 5 mins from the airport and really nice. The lagoon was right by it so hopefully there wasn't much damage to it. Not much help sorry!

I'm sure you will be fine at the Airport by August.

Maybe hold off on booking for a couple of weeks so that you can read post Irma reviews of the hotel on trip advisor. Those reviews should give an indication as to whether the hotel has sustained any serious damage that would impact your stay in August.

Look and see if they have a Facebook page. One we stayed at in July on Miami Beach, has updated their page to say they are open for business as usual from tomorrow

I'm sure any hotels damaged in Miami would be up and running by next August.

Good ideas, thanks, yes I'm sure it should all be fine in a year!

Don't understand why you don't just contact the hotel.

Because I didn't want to seem insensitive wondering about my holiday next year when they've just been through hell. 😳

It will be fine by next year. We're in Miami right now on brickell avenue which was flooded at the weekend. Although some signs of damage are visible, i.e downed power lines, traffic lights not working and damaged trees on the whole it looks fine and I'd expect within a couple of weeks all the above will be fixed and you wouldn't even know a hurricane came through.
