DDP food report August 2014- completed

Hi!

We've just got back so I'm setting up a report to put all of my food photos in. There were 6 of us; myself and DH, our 8 year old twin daughters, and my parents. We were on the DDP as we stayed at OKW. I didnt get photos of every plate at every meal, but got a few!

Food photography is an art! It's a skill to get the lighting, the angle and the background right. Unfortunately, it's a skill I don't have. I seriously don't know how it can look lovely in front of me and weird on my photos, but that has happened. I'm pretty sure that when Delia is having a photoshoot for her latest cookbook she has awesome lighting and someone with a proper camera and a degree in food photography doing the job. Rather than me taking the photos of half eaten food on an iphone and trying to do it quickly enough to fend off the hungry monsters.

So I'll just be adding pictures to this thread and giving little notes on it all. I started off well making notes the first few days, but then I stopped so I'll have to rely on the photos to help me remember! I don't think I'll be doing it in a particular order, just adding to it when I can!

So, bad start... after promising myself I was going to do a food report, I failed at the first hurdle and didn't get any photos at the Holiday Inn Express, Glasgow. The food was good though, and the breakfast the next day was included. They didn't charge us for our extra night's parking. I'd definitely use them again.

We flew with Virgin and I'd pre ordered a vegetarian meal for myself, and kids' meals for the girls. We'd been handed a menu on the flight and the veggie option sounded nice. The girls and I got the meals before due to the special requests and my meal was slightly different to on the menu. The main was the same, but it was missing some cheese. And instead of a gu pudding I'd been given apple crumble. Fortunately they came around with the puddings so I managed to bag a Gu one aswell! I think in future I won't order a veggie one beforehand and just request it when I'm asked which meal I'd like. I'll order the girls their meal though, they wouldn't have eaten from the menu.

Mine was mushroom pasta, which was quite nice. The girls had pasta too and I was surprised when they ate it all!

By the time we arrived to Old Key West, we just wanted to unpack and get sorted so we ate at Goods to Go by the pool. I couldn't be bothered eating though. Again, I failed on the photos for this! But we used 4 credits and got turkey sandwiches, 2x adults and 2x kiddie meals. All were pleased with them!

I remember to take photos in future meals, promise!

We went to Chef Mickey's for breakfast on day 1. We had an 8:40am ADR and on the morning we woke really early and were starving, so I'd wished I'd booked it for earlier.

It was hard to get photos here as the plates were a mix and didn't look too appetising, plus we were getting photos of the girls and Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and co.

I believe this is mushrooms, egg, french toast, hash browns and cheese sauce. Oh and a Mickey waffle!

And this is more french toast, pancakes and cheese blintzes with blueberries.

We were on the DDP but this would have been over $200 if we'd paid.

We went to Magic Kingdom and went on the 7DMT and the girls met Anna and Elsa, and then it started raining. As we were up in that area we went to Pinocchio's Village Haus for a late lunch. Because of the rain, it was packed in here and quite stressful. I was left on my own at the counter while they were all looking for a table, and I had three trays to carry. Fortunately the staff helped me carry them and took me off to a reserved area where I managed to bag a table.

We got a lot from here, the girls shared an adult's nuggets, dad and Matt got BBQ chicken flatbread, mam and I shared a mozzarella flatbread and we all shared some breadsticks. It was nice and when we went back out, the rain had stopped!

We went for a wander for Walmart, which took two hours! We also went later the next week. But here are some of the treats that we bought:
