Description |
Cafe La Bamba offers guests a quick-service option that is richer in appearance and more savory in taste than Universal’s other counter-service restaurants. Designed to be part of the USF “Hollywood Hotel” facade (a famous Hollywood landmark demolished in the 1950s), the venue was unused for many years. Finally in the summer of 2012 it became home to Universal’s Superstar Breakfast, and in December 2012 it resumed lunch service on a seasonal basis. |

We booked a Character Breakfast to help with ticking off plenty of characters around the park. This was our first type of Character Breakfast which was non-disney.
Impressions was that the restaurant itself was okay, nothing spectacular, more a diner type, that didn't worry us.
We had a choice of various Breakfast choices, but we elected on the American which was as near to a British one as we'd get.
The food was nice enough, no real complaints, we eat what we knew we'd like and nibbled on others we weren't sure about.
As for the character experience. There was a decent amount of characters on show, however it felt a tad chaotic, even though the place was not overly busy the characters were seeming to bobb around all over the place with not much organisation.
The characters we saw were E.B., Dora, Diego, Spongebob, Squidward, Gru and Stuart. E.B. and Squidward were the best interaction, the rest were okay. Obiously Gru and Stuart the Minion were going to be most popular and from what I could see they were supposed to separate but looked like with the characters being a bit all over the place, they ended up teaming up. Although as time creeped on, it was announced that any family pics with Gru and Stu would be done in the corner of the restaurant and just to queue. Also no autographs, just Stamps on your book.
All in all a decent enough experience, but certainly didn't have the more organised and feel to it than a Disney counterpart. |
