The kids loved this. It was nice to get to see inside the contemporary hotel and the monorail going through it. We did a late breakfast. It was busy, expensive and noisy. We waited about 25 minutes for our a table. Food was good with lots of choice, everyone left stuffed. Service was fine. Characters were good- Fab 5- Interactions are quick due to how busy it is and getting photos was cramped by the lack of space. We all had a great time despite this. Kids want to go back but we're going to try Tuskers next- just for a change.

After visiting here on our first trip, when we visited this year, it was the first location we both wanted to go to again.
Yet again we loved it, our server was much nicer than the last visit and was really helpful, as there were just the two of us she offered to take pictures for us too which was great.
The food as always at Chef Mickeys was in plentiful supply and very good quality too. The characters were great and came around for a couple of visits too.
I love chef mickeys and would say my favourite character meal in all honesty. Next visit we will be attempting to go back for breakfast and dinner.

It's great to see and meet the characters here but the breakfast selection and quality is very poor. Mainly fried breakfast with little breakfast pastries or more healthy choices available like granola or natural yogurt. Was great to do once, but we won't be rushing back. Also the characters seem rushed on the morning that we were there and so just waved past the table or stoped briefly for a very quick photo. It seemed like the characters were on a production line!

Went for dinner. Chose a busy time but had to work around 6yo bedtime. Great character interaction for younger kids, she loved swinging her knapkin around her head and the characters dancing.
Food was standard buffet chicken, fish veg etc it was ok nothing special. If you have young kids and on DP then go for it, if paying OOP and your looking for a relaxing dinner the don't - very busy and very loud.

What a wonderful place this is. I my Opinion it was the best character experience with plenty of character interaction who spent time at your table. There was time for pictures and you never felt rushed.
There was loads of choice from the food station and the hardest thing is choosing what to eat as there was so much!
The setting is great as the contemporary is a wonderful resort.
As ever Disney have it right with this and if you like character dining then its a real must do!

I hate to give this not a great review as its one place I would have recomended families to go if they wanted a character experience. That said I probably would still, as they will see all characters. The food was not hot it was just warm, we were sat where we could not hear the music for napkin swinging almost in walkway and that spoilt the fun for children. I am not sure if it has changed over the years as it was always a must for us, if we do bother to go next time I might try Dinner...

Had this on the list 'to do' and was disappointed. In fairness went at very busy time 6.30pm and children now 10 and 12, feel its aimed at the younger ones but biggest issue I felt was quality of food and so messy. Quite shocking how some families leave area! Much better character meals with same characters elsewhere. Glad we had DDP.

Eaten here a few time in the past 15 years but this was one of our best visits. A party of 5 adults celebrating our anniversary.

The dinner buffet is one of the best (and one of the most expensive I admit) on property. The salad, cheese and sushi appetizer bar was immense and we had to remember to stop as we had the full entrees on the buffet to eat including the most amazing parmesan mashed potato and great rubbed carved beef amazing. On top of some really fresh pasta and fish dishes you cannot go wrong on this buffet and then there is the dessert buffet, if you have room!

Oh I nearly forgot - character interaction is immense, we had Chef Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Pluto all stop by and they were fab!

We went for my 40th Birthday, great start to the day with the 'Fab 5'! Usual breakfast fare of eggs, sausages, bacon, fruits, cereals, etc. Plus the bonus of a birthday cupcake and then another one for ou wedding anniversary.
Staff were great, characters didn't rush and posed for lot's of photos.

Came here for dinner on our last night. The characters came round in quick succession, and were almost never out of sight, so if you want to see lots of your favs (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto), then this the place to come.

There was plenty available, from salads right through to desserts. I found quite a lot to eat here (including a couple of bits off the kid's buffet), but the usual story: too much food so we weren't hungry enough to do it justice.

It was the most expensive meal we had, though, topping out at $90 for the two of us! Thank goodness for the DDP is all I can say! I don't think the food was quite worth that much! They claim to have the best desserts on offer, but I have to disagree with that. I didn't want a brownie, the Mickey domes were heavy, the mini cheesecakes were almost solid, and the key lime pies had an odd taste to them.

Still, we're glad we did it, but probably won't go there again.

Not the absolute best quality food available at WDW but a must do for us for atmosphere and fun value. It does get incredibly busy at peak times but worth the wait for us. Servers are always busy but attentive and Character interaction is great. A CM made sure to ask Mickey to come back to our table as my DS had missed him while at the buffet.

This was the first holiday we were able to book chef Mickey for a breakfast. It was good, the food was nice, but it wasn't as good as we'd imagined. Maybe because we were unable to book a table last trip we assumed it must be outstanding. Got some nice pics and had a good breakfast to set us up for the day :)

We had our breakfast reservation here for our first morning. There was a really lively atmosphere, quite well spaced out so I didn't feel we were sitting on top of each other. The food selection at the buffet was excellent, loads of fruit, pastries, hot selection and cereals. The characters spent a good amount of time with each table and the servers kept our drinks refilled and removed used plates quickly. An excellent way to start the day.

Well, looking at the reviews, I'm afraid my experience didn't add up to being a really good one. Don't think that my reviews are usually like this - just being honest -- I rarely say anything bad about a restaurant or hotel, but this didn't meet the expectations that everyone raved about - maybe if it had been our first one on our first trip, we'd feel different.. but so many others under our belt and this wasn't the ticket!

The food was nice - but no better than Cape May or any of the others I'd been too and not so much choice.. felt a bit like a service station... What I didn't like was the setting - a horrid looking hotel (I don't know what the rooms are like) .. the windows were dirty and you couldn't see the view. Hated the monarail going through the hotel.. it was noisy and annoying - not relaxing at all.. Felt extremely squashed.. The staff were pleasant in the restaurant, but very rushed.. and we were presented with our bill rather than asked if we would like more coffee etc. I wasn't impressed with the photos that they took - we all look strange with a shadow over our heads.. they weren't good quality as a keep sake.. :-( We asked about retaking them and they were very very abrupt! It was like queuing in a cattle pen.. waiting for auction - this was the first experience like this out of all the Character experiences we've done over two trips..

The characters didn't all appear - we kept getting Goofey again and again.. I put this down to the position of our table. We did get them eventually after asking, but they went to the tables lower down..

The toilets were down in the basement, so you found yourself trudging down their with the kids mid meal (It took ages for breakfast - as we waited an eternity for the characters)

We don't think we will bother to go back again..

This was the first time we had done this character meal at the contemporary. It was okay but i thought it was a bit overrated and did not live up to the hype. Food was fine. We was there really early, was there a long time got pictures with all the characters etc but still prefer Crystal Palace and Tusker house to be honest.

Chef Mickey was our first character meal back in 1999, we loved it but hadn't been since. This time was just as good, lots of lovely hot and cold food, plenty of choice and good interaction by Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald. Our server wasn't around much but our glasses got refilled although the plates piled up and I had to ask someone else for tea. Would do it again.

While the service aspect of Chef Mickeys isn't 100%, its really no worse than any buffet style restaurant in Disney. The servers can be a little slow to come to the table, get drinks etc but they always seem to be around when you need your table cleared.

The food itself is general breakfast/dinner items with a few special things thrown in for good measure but the real appeal is the guarantee you'll meet The Boss. If you definitely want to see the true gang: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy it's the best option.

It does book up very quickly though so I'd advise getting an ADR as soon as you can.

Did this once before a couple of years ago and most recently Sept 2011. We decided to book this for our final morning before we flew home. Both felt a bit down on arriving cause we knew it was our last one but we were soon uplifted. The atmosphere is lovely in there. The characters were great although Mickey seemed rushed off his feet, missed our table for pictures cause he had to do the 'napkin dance' and then we he came back to us it was super quick. Aside from that the food is lovely. Everything is kept very clean and tidy unlike some buffets we've been to. The waitress was always refilling our orange juice and coffee.

Used a DDP credit for this and it was definitely worth it. Big hearty meal to send us on our way.

Enjoyable breakfast, this was our second time to Chef Mickey's.
We decided to return to the more hectic buffet breakfast style to take my nepwhews along to meet Mickey and the Gang. The children loved it and we got our enjoyment out of that!
The food was good, it has a more hectic and loud atmosphere to it than the other character breakfasts on offer but this suited the children down to the ground (being only 2 1/2 at the time).
As a party of adults this year we won't be going back but taking my nephews again in future is a definate cert!
An enjoyable hour or so with great photos to look back on :)

We had dinner here in August of last year. It was our first time on DDDP and we had already had a few character meals. I have to say that this one was the one I was least impressed with. The server was rushed, I hate the photo hard sell - it's just a plastic Mickey after all. The characters took ages to get to us but they were good when they finally did. I've heard great things about this place and it's certainly hard to get an ADR here if you leave it too late, but personally, I'd rather go elsewhere.

Booked this ADR for my kids to make the most of the character interaction.

I have to agree with a previous review in that I was unimpressed with the Contemporary on arrival. There was no Disney feel to the hotel.

We were allocated our table wihtin minutes of arrival, after a rushed family photograph and our server was not the best. She was clearly rushed of her feet and was not the most attentive.

We were seated by the large, colourful window display and it was in dire need of a good clean. Food and drinks were splattered all over it.

Character interaction was good, within 10 minutes a new cycle of characters were out and we saw all five wihtin 20 minutes. It was a bit rushed too but the restaurant was very busy. My two kids were delighted with the characters visiting the table.

The food was fine. Not bad, but certainly not great. Lots to choose from but certanly not the best buffet I have been to.

We found chef Mickey's to be very good. Although not on a DDP we had to pay in dollars and the price was high for what it was. However the food was nice and plentiful, eating with the characters was great and was really enjoyable.
Would recommend if on DDP. oh and the photo with a plastic chez mickey mmm Not really a good photo op unlike Cinderella's table.

The location of this restaurant is brilliant. Right near the shops(!) and with a great view of the monorail coming and going.

On arrival you can have a photo taken with the Chef Mickey statue which they then bring around to see if you want to purchase.

We were seated straight after this, they seem to fill each area rather than spreading out all over the restaurant. Our server was great and advised us to have our DD sit on the outside for easier character interaction. She was very quick with refills and quite happy to get drinks for DD even though she was only 2 and not paying.

The food was lovely, hot and fresh. The carved beef, turkey and Parmesan mashed potatoes were absolutely delicious and I happily went back for seconds! The was plenty of options and everything I tasted was delicious.

All the toppings for the sundae bar were really nice and the cookies were good.

Character interaction was great, they all came around fairly quickly and were more than happy to pose for pictures and sign autographs.

Would definitely recommend eating here and will be going back again.

We visited Chef Mickeys for dinner using our Disney Dining Plan. First of all, we weren't impressed with the Contemporary Resort when we arrived - this wouldn't be somewhere we would choose to stay.

Anyway, onto Chef Mickeys. We were checked in and seated quickly. Our server introduced himself and told us to be careful that we weren't at the buffet when the character arrived at our table as it would take another hour for them to work their way around to us again. This made us stressed as Goofy was close to our table so we didn't feel we could visit the buffet before we had seen him. Then, as soon as we joined the line for the buffet, another character came.

The food was good - nothing special, but it was good. The mashed potatoes and turkey were wonderful and there was plenty of things that our kids could eat. The desserts were delicious. We didn't feel rushed in here at all and the characters spent plenty of time with each table.

The only downside to this character dining is with regards to joining the line for the buffet when a character is due to your table. We were nervous that we would go to get food and miss the character and then be sat around eating at the end of the meal waiting for that character to come back around again.

Having said all of that, we would eat here again.

We ate here the night of our vow renewal and wasnt impressed at all. The food was ok with a couple of things we could all eat but I think our server really spoilt our meal. He got the drink order wrong 3 times and the 3rd time asked if it was ok to give dd an orange drink when she had asked for coke... not hard. He gave us our bill when we were still eating our mains. At the end we did get 2 cupcakes for our renewal with some matches he told us to light the candles and a character would come over, we did and waited and the characters all went so was really dissapointing. The character interaction was rushed but I found a lot were rushed this year at the character meals. The best thing about this meal was watching a couple get engaged with the help of micky.

we went here two days after my birthday for dinner.

we booked an ADR for 6.15pm and only had to wait about 10 minutes for our table.

it was very busy so quite noisy. we were lucky to be seated near the food so we weren't "packed in" the restarant seemed a bit basic in decoration. it looked more like a cafe than restaurant.

there was plenty of choice on the buffet and they had some lovely dessert cakes.

we chose this restaurant as we wanted to meet all the disney charactors and there were 5 ...mickey, minnie, pluto, goofy and donald duck so a great choice. each charactor spent a few minutes at our table for cuddles and pictures.

i did feel a bit rushed when the CM gave us our bill even though we hadn't had our dessert and i was a bit put off when a CM came up and tried to sell us the picture they had taken just before we went into the restaurant...you got one large picture plus 4 others i think in a display frame for $29.99.

as it was my birthday i got a little cupcake, which was nice but no birthday card which i did get when i went the the crystal palace... but i shouldn't complain as it was two days after my actual birthday!

all in all it we booked this restaurant to meet the charactors and weren't disappointed.

We went here for breakfast on our first morning and thought it was absolutely brilliant! We had gone through the Contemporary so many times on the monorail, and were very excited that this time we got to get off inside! We thought the whole experience was great! We were 21 and 27, however...if you had small children who really wanted to see Mickey i feel this would be a really easy way to do so! The food was yummy and it was an amazing start to the holiday. I can't recommend this place enough - it is now a MUST for all future trips!

If you only do one character meal, make it this one. Fantastic food, loads of personal contact with many characters, dancing, fun, best food we had in Disney (and most of the rest of Orlando to be honest). Seems expensive, but to be honest if you only do it once, its not that expensive and definately not overpriced for what you get. The look on my kids faces was worth the price alone. Could not recommend it enough. This will be a must do event on our next trip.

UPDATED: AUGUST 2010

Went here for dinner on our last visit. It has really changed and is a bit more upmarket than our last visit, but because of that its busier and more expensive. However, it was excellent character interaction. Food was as you would expect, its very busy but we had such a laugh around with Goofy who decided to do some table rearranging and picked up my two younger sons at the same time! Mickey, not to be outdone got down on one knee and proposed to Mini before they had a little dance! Everyone there was so friendly and had a great evening.

The characters were extremely rushed and hardly paid any attention to my boys.
The food choice has really gone down too.
Im sorry to say the staff wee not much better than the characters they seemd to just want to rush us through the meal

This place is great! It was our first TS meal after a day at Magic Kingdom, so we were super happy anyway, and this experience just added to it! The atmosphere was very happy, loved the napkin spinning/dance, character interaction was great, food selection was more than ample (although stocks of desserts were a little low :(), loved the carved beef especially, and we left very happy. I'd love the photo package but I feel that $30 is too much, especially compared to the value of the Photopass CD. Our waiter was relatively attentive, and I don't remember having an empty glass, and he ensured that all of the characters visited before we left. Would definitely recommend!

A buffet type restaurant set in the Contemporary resort, this is a complete recommendation to anyone wanting to meet characters. If not, the food is great! Easy to get to via the monorail, I'd recommend it.

The food was great, excellent choice for adults and children. The cakes for me were the best. Mickey and co were great too, didn't feel rushed at all, it is a very busy place and noisy and I can understand why some people feel they are rushed, we took our time and enjoyed it. This was our 3rd visit here and would go back again.

We were on our honeymoon so got a bit of attention, however if we hadnt and we dont have children either, i think we would have been ignored. The food was ok, nothing special, didnt really get to eat much as you are waiting for the characters all the time. The interaction was nice - but it was very very rushed and felt like a conveyer belt. character, sign, photo, character, sign, photo.

We loved our experience, we didn't have to wait to be seated and we had a lovely view of the castle from our table. The atmosphere was electric & the kids (3&7) loved all the fun they could have at the breakfast table. The characters came around more than once & had lots of time for every child. It was our 3yr olds birthday & he got a little cup cake with a candle. The food & service was great! We will be going back on our next visit.

We ate here for Breakfast and enjoyed the experience. I couldn't believe how busy it was but because we were a party of 2 we were seated really quickly. The food was good and the way this restaurant is organised with the character visits its excellent.

we had the dinner at chef mickey and the only thing we can fault is there is only one toilet we found inside to share with both sexes, maybe there was another we didnt see.it was spotless clean, the food was lovely and a huge choice.it is really good location as the monorail drops you off inside the building.the staff were friendly, the character interaction was brilliant what could be better than sitting with your family havin a nice dinner and mickey, minnie and friends!

We booked a breakfast here and had to wait ages for our table. The food was good though and characters spent a while with the kids even though it was very busy. We had a lovely wander round the hotel afterwards so a very relaxing morning all in all. Am glad we went but would probably not go back

Before I start ripping Chef Mickeys to pieces other years we have loved it.

OK where do I start, got there got sitted very quickly my DS loved this breakfast and it was the only one he wanted to go to.

Got sat down and they were doing some work on the place but all was quiet. Then after about 5 minutes every workman in Disney started work.

The noise was deafening we asked our server if we could move and she said she didnt even notice the noise as its such a noisy breakfast and with the music she was use to it. My reply was what music? Honestly we couldnt hear the music as the work that was going on was so loud.

Then we started to get the smell, workman were cutting metal and the smell of burning was dreadful, they also had the AC on so high (probably to get rid of the smell) by the time we got our food and got back to the table it was cold.

My DH wasnt happy and told the girl at the desk afterwards what he thought about our table, she laughed at him he saw red.

He then asked for a Manager who did and said all the right things and offered us a complimentary dinner we thanked her but said we didnt fancy coming back again.

Thats how bad it was we said no to free food

If building work is still going on refuse your table straight away you have been warned

Read mixed reviews about Chef Mickeys so didn't go with high expectations and we were still dissapointed.Food was not very good and not a lot of variety and restaurant had no atmosphere.Character interaction was good.
Would use money next time to eat elsewhere.

We really enjoyed our visit to Chef Mickeys and have booked to go again on our next trip.

We were seated quickly and our server was friendly and efficient.

The food choices were very good and we all really enjoyed the food (I think the boys enjoyed the deserts the best! )

The character interaction was good and the napkin twirling was fun. I have a great video of our boys twirling napkins and thoroughly enjoying themselves which in itself makes the meal worth every penny!

Did this for dinner on our first night. DH was dreading it after watching clips on youtube, where it looked manic and noisy.

We all really enjoyed it, even DH!

The noise level was fine, and it was not manic.

The character interaction was great, the service was really friendly and helpful, the food I hardly noticed what with all the excitement of Minnie/Goofy/Donald stopping by, but I think it was fine.

I was unsure if my shy 8yr old would like all this, but he LOVED it. A great start to the holiday.

Chef Mickey's is a mixed bunch , we have visited several times breakfast/dinner and always come away with the same view which is good but could be so much better.

Atmosphere is noisy so don't expect a quiet meal , it's great for kids and the location is good especially if you are visiting the Magic Kingdom that day.

Couldn't fault the food or the general appearance of the restaurant but we always found that the character interaction a bit on the rushed side compared to other character dining experiences.

Will have to try and visit again to see if things are improved.

This is a fantastic place for breakfast! We weren't rushed at all, spent nearly 2 hours there, never seen so much food variety in one place, staff were so lovely -I've never seen anyone clean a table and relay it as quickly without disturbing anyone - it was amazing! We were there when the building work was happening and it didn't disturb us at all. The characters spent quite lot of time with each table and the staff kept constantly refilling our glasses with juice - even when we didn't ask for it! An excellent experience - well worth the money!

We LOVE it here and try to go every trip.
We think there is a great variety of food - (once we even had ice cream and jelly babies for breakfast... you can imagine how that was a real treat)
The character interaction was great ..spent a good five minutes with us and played around a bit which made for some great video footage.
We always love it here.
This trip we were sat right next to the kitchen door, and still no noise or disruption from that in any way..in fact it added to our amusment as the characters also come out from here and goofy actually got stuck in the doors!
Overall a great restaurant and would reccommend it to anyone!

We have been to Chef Mickeys for both breakfast and dinner and have had a nice time both times. We do prefer dinner as we find the breakfast buffets to be pretty much the same wherever you dine. But the selection at dinner was good with a good amount of veggie items. The desserts were very nice. We have always had good interaction with the characters and they were excellent this time as it was my sons 5th birthday. Both Pluto and Mickey came over with his cake and we all sung Happy Birthday. They then helped him blow out the candles. Its not our favourite character meal but no complains from us.

Thought that Chef Mickey's was good, but not that good. We went for an 8.30am breakfast and found it okay but no more. The food selection was quite poor and looked like a thousand people had rummaged through the food before us, it was on the floors, around the serving stations and no CM's seemed bothered to clean it up.

The characters were good but seemed a little rushed in comparision to the Crystal Palace and the place itself felt old and dirty, especially the toilets (and whiffy as well).

Saying all that we'd probably go again but for dinner next time, purely to see Mickey and co in a more relaxed setting.

Loved, loved, loved Chef Mickeys. (DH preferred Boma's - see that review - but DD and I want to do Chef Mickeys next time, and we'll probably win LOL). Huge array of food (DD ate an embarrassingly large number of hash browns) including sweets for the kids. We got an 11.20 ADR so we didn't eat anything before, and didn't eat anything for the rest of the day, either! Our server was Donald (no, not that Donald) but we were adopted by a chap called James who was born in Scotland and took to DD, talking to her about football as she was wearing her footie shirt. James also brought her a placemat with character "autographs" on (printed, but she was chuffed). Loved the napkin twirling, led by Minnie. No Chip and Dale when we were there, but we saw Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto, so came away well satisfied. We got to ride the front of the monorail on the way there, too, so that was the icing on the cake.
