Ming Court

Ming Court
Location 9188 International Drive
Description a diverse menu make this one of Orlando's most popular Chinese eateries. Start off with the duck lettuce cup before going on to the lightly battered, deep-fried chicken breast it's got plenty of zip from a delicate lemon-tangerine sauce. If you're in the mood for beef, there's a grilled filet mignon that's seasoned Szechuan-style (the topping has toasted onions, garlic, and chili). The mildly innovative menu is extensive, featuring the freshest ingredients.

We were staying at the Rosen Inn next door so we would drive passed near enough every day and my girlfriend who is a big Chinese Food fan was appealed by the authentic vibe on the exterior of the restaurant, so we gave it a try and it was very nice. We always judge a restaurant on how busy it is before we go in and it was basically late afternoon when we went in but the time we finished it had a queue out the door to get in. I got the two course Duck which I only really wanted it as a starter or a main not as both but the waiter insisted as i was paying for the duck, the starter was huge and they had a man come out and carve the duck right up at the table. I cannot remember what my girlfriend got but she was impressed, that impressed when I was ill one night she went and ordered a takeaway and was back within thirty minutes. Overall, I was impressed with this establishment and the staff were very kind and was forever checking up on us to see if we were happy.

We were staying in West Haven, near Davenport and met up with some friends. Let's have a Chinese, sounds good. So we drove the 45 minutes or so to international drive, passing many restaurants along the way. When we eventually got to the Ming Court we were all hungry. We started with starters and many had the soup, this is where the meal started to go wrong. My DD found a waxy disk at the bottom of her soup, I reassured her it is fine it is a water chestnut. Well needless to say it was not, it was spat out and upon inspection it was a wax like disk. We asked the waiter over and then received nothing but a hard time. Needless to say everyone that had soup stopped eating it. The main course was a family style mixture of everything we like however the rice dishes were cold and we felt that we could not complain again so we ate as much as we could get away with and left ASAP. There was no attempt to compensate us for the soup so we felt that we had made a bad decision passing all of the other restaurants on the way there. A stop at McDonalds on the was home was needed to feed the kids as they had put the shutters up after the soup course. We will not be returning. I'm sure the story will be repeated next week as we drive past it.

We tried Mings Court as we were staying at the Rosen Inn PO which is virtually next door. I was nervous as the menu seemed quite different to what we're used to. We ordered our food and waited... and waited... and waited. It took well over an hour for it to be brought out. Most of the dishes were only warm not hot. However the taste of the food was on another planet. It was a shame it was only warm other wise it would have been the bet Chinese food i'd ever tasted.

Finally visited Mings after years of not getting there ... Gotta say wish I hadn,t bothered. Where do I start ? Service was really poor cutlery thrown on the table and when the food did arrive the waitress attempted to remove from under my DW nose before she had finished. More interested in serving friends or other Chinese people who where kept to another part of the restaurant from everyone else !

When I got the bill (which was not cheap for 2) the waitress had very kindly added $15 service charge in pen on it for herself... Honest you could not make it up !

The food itself was OK but the next day I was ill and could not eat for the full day. I do not know if it was the food served in Mings or not that caused it but, I have never had any problems anywhere else in 10 years of visiting Florida.

Would not advise anyone to visit Mings there is far better options to dine out in.

Will NEVER go back !

NEVER received poor service
Always been completely satisfied
This is a must if you want a reasonably priced Chinese in the midst of the endless burgers, chicken & ribs!
Its really friendly, has a fantastic menu and has some good offerings for the younger ones too.

This was by far the best meal we had in Orlando. Excellent surroundings, food was fantastic (I thought London served fantastic chinese food, but Ming but them all to shame), staff could not be faulted and recommended the most delicious choices. They also accept the Kids Eat Free card, which was great. Would highly recommend and will absolutely visit next time we go. £50 for dinner for 4, expensive for Orlando but well worth every penny.

The food was absolutely fantastic with plenty of it. For 4 adults with 2 side orders of spring rolls , 3 side orders of rice, 1 side order of colourful prawn crackers , 4 cocktails - very potent ! 4 main meals and 4 swets it came to $181 which included a $21 tip already added to the bill which we weren't too pleased about, but saying that it was a very good meal with very good friendly service.
You must feed the fish outside for 25 cents, it's well worth it.

We were staying next door at the Quality inn plaza and thought we'd give it a try as we love this kind of food. There was a party of 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids. I didn't realise it was and upmarket place as it was on our list for our kids eat free card.

We arrived with our park clothes on, not realising that it was more upmarket and we got some funny looks from the staff. We were seated in the conservatory area, away from the main part of the restuarant and actually felt we were put there out of the way from the other diners who all seemed to be business type people.

I really felt very intimidated and wanted to leave but was too embarrassed to do so. Food was really nice though but if I went again I would definetely dress for the occassion and probably not take the kids.

Had my favourite meal of the whole holiday here. The place is fabulous, we were staying at the Quality Inn Plaza and it was very handy for us. The kids enjoyed their meal too, they had a box with compartments and in each compartment was something different, rice and chicken, noodles, chips, multi coloured prawn crackers and a ketchup dip in the middle. I had chicken with walnuts in a honey garlic sauce with stir fry veg and rice, It was to die for. Hubby Jim had a pork dish which came with pancakes like crispy duck and for pud, my daughter and I had a lovely fruit tart and son had a white chocolate mousse. With beer, soft drinks and a brandy instead of pud for Jim, the bill came to $90.00. I will definately be coming back on my next visit.

Hi, We first ate in this wonderful resturant on our first night ever in Orlando in june 2000. We were staying in the Quality inn plaza which is next door to the Ming court. We didnt fancy walking or driving anywhere so we decide to eat in the Ming court.
When we first entered the ming we were greeted by members of staff who made us feel very welcome. we were shown the specials and the deserts on a trolley at the entrance to the dining room. Inside the resturant is gorgeous, chinese dragons hanging from the ceiling koi carp in a pool outside in the gardens which you can see form tables in the higher room. There is also live chinese music played in the dining room. The service and food we have had evet year in the ming court is allways of a very high standard and very reasonbly priced. The spring rolls and dim sum are to die for. We allways now eat here on our first night in orland and at least once more during the holiday. the seafood is allways fresh and tasty.
Lynne being a veggie is also well catered for here. All staff we have met throughout the years have also been very helpfull and friendly.
It certainly isnt like chinese places over here!
also you can park here and go over to the pointe without having to pay for the multi storey car park accross the road.

We first visited Ming Court in 2001 and have made a point of making a trip back there each time we go to Florida! It's our special family night out and we always get dressed up - if you do that in Florida!

The last time we visited was Oct 05, and it was the best time yet. The food was sensational, a fantastic variety for the kids which they loved, excellent choices of food and drinks, service was first class, I actually commented to the manager on the service of our waitress, she was THAT GOOD! There was an amazing thunder and lightning storm the night we visited and it was great to watch!

All in all, highly recommended, we spent about $120.00 but that included bottles of wine also!
