Excited about Disney
|
We have eaten here a couple of times for dinner. Its ok, but the characters in the past have made up for the average food.
Unfortunately this this trip we felt rushed and the characters did not seem to have as much time with us.
Its quite an expensive meal for the food you get, so on balance we won't be back again. |

Getting Excited
|
This was the worst meal we had on property. The breakfast options are really generic, with nothing special like you get at 1900 or Crystal Palace. We were there as the lunch-tim switch over started, but none of that looked even a little appetizing to be honest.
We booked a late breakfast as we'd seen that there was a small dance party on YouTube videos. That never happened, in fact the restaurant was half empty. The characters came round twice, that's how quiet it was.
I wouldn't book this again, unless the kids were desperate to see Sofia, Doc or Jake. |

We had breakfast here and really enjoyed it. The food was great and the character interaction was fab too. One character even missed signing our book so after breakfast they got them to come back over which was great.
Service was good and we had a great little table for the two of us too.
We are going back on our next visit too ;-) |

We went to the Christmas seasonal dine here. Very good selection of food available. Did not feel at all rushed. Staff were friendly. We were nervous of how characters would react to us as two women on honeymoon, however they were so excited about us being a couple. Loads of hugs, and photo's. They were just wonderful. We booked this as fantasmic dining package. Still show up early to the show, it filked up quick. We were in front row though :). Well worth it |

Booked dinner here with the fantastic dining package. Although the character interaction was good we had just as good interaction with characters at Tusker House where the quality of the food was much better.
Would not recommend this place and would definitely not visit again. |

We went here April 2016 for breakfast and found it to be fab! The character interaction was great and both my kids loved it too. We didn't feel rushed when the characters came round to our table either and we had a good amount of time with them. The food was nice too.
I would definitely recommend. |

We went to H&V for the lunch buffet. We were seated right in the back corner. It was very busy and the nature of the restaurant had it, that children were running around, so we were glad to have a table out of the way. The chracter interaction was brilliant. Our 3yo knows all the characters and loved the time they spent with her. They all spent plenty of time with us.
The food was surprisingly good. We don't normally expect much from a buffet and mainly go for the charcter interaction, but all 5 of us ended up getting up a few times to get more.
DD wanted strwaberries for desert, but they only had chocolate coated strawberries. They came out with a big bowl of strwaberries for DD when I asked them for some, which i thought was a nice touch. |

Went here for my birthday and booked on MDE for the Fantasmic dinner package.
Despite booking ages ago, still had to wait as they seemed more interested if you had a Disney meal plan.
Once inside, thought it was like a school canteen.
Food Nothing special and certainly not worth the money. Our server made us feel like he was doing us a favour when we asked for our Fantsmic tickets, although the table next to us who were on the meal plan got theirs straightaway. Not impressed and have complained to Disney about the meal and everything. *update after we complained,Disney refunded the cost of our meal,so fair play to them for doing that. |

Booked this really for our 4 year old daughter who loves Disney Junior. Characters included Sofia the first, Jake, Doc McStuffins and Handy Manny. Characters were were good, but that's the only positive to come from the experience. Breakfast was horrible. Chicken sausages were spicy/peppery and not nice at all. The french toast was stodgy and greasy. I hardly ate a thing, and that evening my husband was violently sick. Not sure if the breakfast was to blame, but can't think what else it could have been. |

Booked this esp for my 3 year old as she loves all the Disney Jnr gang. It was mostly booked for the character meets as opposed to the food but the food I found was actually ok and the waitress kept us filled up on drinks.
The characters were great and the CM along with them made sure we had met every character and encouraged the kids to go up and dance with them. A great start to our morning. |

DH and I visited for a Fanstasmic Dinner package. The server was rather surly and just said its self service and I just bring your drinks and clear the plates. So no interaction with her at all, until she asked if we were on the dining plan. I said no and her attitude changed! She became chatty and warm!
DH and I loved the food, the salad bar was brilliant we made the most of it I can tell you! The food was warm and plentiful DH and I enjoyed everything we had.
We have been here before when we had our DS's with us and were not impressed. We decided to go here this time as a change and we are glad that we did.
We will be going back in September this year I hope that it will be as good as the last time. |

We dined here 3 times, we have dined at breakfast and lunch time (both the character breakfasts) the selection was plentiful and great quality. Overall we preferred the lunch option, they had some delicious food and the character interaction is excellent, especially since they have updated the characters (now Manny, Jake, Doc and Sofia) we had previously queued 45 minutes just to meet Sofia elsewhere and we got to meet her twice at our meal. The staff were great too. Great dining option at HS. |

We took our 4 year old here and he loved it all!
The food was plentiful and good and all the characters were very sweet. They all hugged and posed with my son plus signed his autograph book. All of the characters drew an additional wee thing to their signature, Doc Mcstuffins did a little plaster, Handy Manny a hammer, Jake a sword etc.
My son also loved the dancing and the Conga line with the characters. |

We booked this as the Fantasmic Package so dinner was a bit earlier than normal.
The food was nothing special, the service was good, but all a bit rushed!
When we asked about the seating for Fantasmic, we were told it was the wrong time slot for this event!
I asked another member of staff and he gave us another excuse for not providing the seating!
As it turned out this did not stop us queing up and getting seats to watch Fantasmic. |

Booked here to take my 1yr old grandson and he loved it, so did I! Having been before a couple of years ago and enjoying it we decided to go back with the wee one and we were made up that Jake was there and they sung the songs from the series. We were got lots of interaction from Jake, Oso, June and Handy Manny and is by far the best kids character meal for dancing and letting the kids up and about. The food was surprising good too. Will be back. |

Booked this for a first day lunch with our two year old, mainly for Handy Manny and Jake but also to see how he would react to the character, without having to stand in a line.
After a short wait on the patio we were taken inside and Special Agent Oso was passing by. My son immediately ran to him and threw his arms around him. Things only got better from there with more great character interaction from June, Jake and Manny.
The food was plentiful, fresh and very tasty and we all had several plates. Our son took part in the singing/dancing that occurs every so often and enjoyed every minute of his lunch.
It's our favourite (we haven't tried them all) character meal and is even more inviting for this year as it now includes Doc Mcstuffins and Sofia the first |

Took our sons aged 2 & 1 here for the Play n Dine buffet breakfast. Character interaction was great and they boys had a brilliant time. The restaurant was extremely busy as was our server, so they couldn't be as attentive as I think they would have liked but service was still ok. I think the food selection is just ok compared to other breakfast buffets available, but there was still plenty to choose from and what we had was lovely. We probanly won't return next time as the boys will be a bit older and aren't as fussed on the characters there, but would def recommend to parents of young children / toddlers |

I didn't really enjoy our meal here, the theming was a little odd and it seemed quite rushed. The buffet food was quite varied and there seemed to be something to suit everyones tastes - it just didn't have that WOW! factor. We hardy saw our server and were offered no refills at all, we had to ask another server for some fries for DS (they didn't have them on the buffet you had to request them (informed by child at next table)). The dessert buffet really saved the day, it was amazing, they had tiny portions of everything, so we could try a bit of everything without feeling overly full. I think this was our most expensive meal of the holiday, although definitley not the best by a long way. ($140 for 3 adults and 1 child + tip)
We also had a breakfast here towards the end of the holiday, the food was a lot more to our tastes and the server was a lot more attentive. |

We arrived on a wet day to H&V for the Play and Dine Meal. This would get more characters off the autograph hunt and also feed us at the same time.
Booked through our Meal Plan, we didn't have to wait long to be shown to our table. The places is big so it does take a whilst for the characters to get round. There is also some dancing and singing from CM's too, although our little one is a bit shy and never took part.
Food was okay, our little one had her treat with chicken nuggets and whilst Fries weren't on order we requested them and got a plate.
We had chicken, rice and some other meats from the buffet, which was quite nice. Quite fancied the Asian option, but it was cold so that put an end to that. Service was fine and overall it was enjoyable.
With it being Disney Junior, I do have to say that I probably wouldn't return due to the growing age of our little one, but did the job anyway. |

We booked this as a character lunch for my son and we were not disappointed with the food or the character interactions, although it is a bit on the expensive side (I think it worked out at about $70 and that was just for two adults as our son and daughter are below 3 yrs. I had read reviews before going that talked about the food not being great but was very pleasantly surprised. There was a lot of choice for us and the kids both hot and cold, and plenty to keep going back for. The character interaction was great, the characters came round a few times each, we got autographs and lots of photos. Then every 10 minutes or so the characters called the children up for a dance to a familiar song from the Disney Junior channel. It was a great opportunity for our son to get up close to the characters and they really enjoyed it, especially our son who is a huge Handy Manny, Jake and OSO fan. Would recommend. |

We did this on our first morning as I wanted my 13 month old sons first experience of meeting characters to be with ones that he knew. We got an early ADR and had most of the place to ourselves for the First 30 minutes. We met June and Leo from Little Einsteins, Handy Manny and Oso. They were fantastic with my son, gave him loads of attention and were really patient with us while we tried to get a picture with my son actually looking at the camera! The service was great, the food was good and we had a fantastic time. I was also able to get another reservation for our last morning but it was later on in the morning and busier but was we still had a fantastic time. Also every 10 mins the characters get together with some staff and sing through some DIsney JUnior songs like the characters theme tunes and the children get up and dance with the characters which was a nice touch. We will definitely be returning on our first morning of our next trip again, can't wait. My son LOVED this! |

So we came here on the night we were going to see Fantasmic. It wasnt my first choice of restaurant.I think there were two choices and the other was fully booked.. can see why. We were seated promptly and the staff were lovely. Kids liked the whole American Diner idea. But the atmosphere inside didnt lend itself to the whole experience. The food well, we were using the DDDP again. This was a buffet so that was ok.. The desserts were better quality.. The dining plan saved us feeling ripped off.. I have to agree with 'doradaxplorer' the foods were quite tasteless and forgettable. .. the choices were limited and the food was a little limp so as to speak. The dining plan costs a lot of money.. and here i didnt think it was worth a credit. The only benefit was the preferred seating at Fantasmic. (Which is fantastic) I wouldnt come here again.. it was nice to get out of the heat and rest my feet.. But afraid I cant rave about it.. infact all I can really recall (I know it was a while back) was oh yeah we had a ropey meal there' when I look back at my photos.. I guess each to there own.. I think my biggest problem is that by the end of the DDDP you can eat in a lot of places.. some god some bad, but theres a lot of the same food over and over.. got a bit monotonous.. |

Feel very indifferent about our H&V experience,it wasn't our worst meal but at the same time the food was fairly tasteless and forgettable, the restaurant itself had no atmosphere probably because it was quite empty with one part of the restaurant shut off.

We booked lunch here using our Disney Dining Plan, not realising that we would meet the Playhouse Disney characters. As my DS is 15 and my DD is 11, they weren't too interested in meeting the playhouse disney characters but we couldn't amend our booking - nothing else was available table service wise, in DHS.
Anyway, I am glad we didn't amend our booking as we really loved the food here. Whilst we weren't interested in meeting the characters, I would like to point out that they were brilliant in here. They spent loads of time with the small children and played games, singing and dancing with them.
The buffet was great. It was nice to have more salad choices and some tuna, salmon - and not just meat all of the time. There was mashed potato, chicken - the usual buffet food.
The desserts were wonderful too. A summer fruit cobbler with custard - this was gorgeous and we had plenty of this.
We would definitely visit Hollywood and Vine again - we would try to book dinner next time so we don't see the characters but that is just because of the age of our children. |

This was our second visit we were last there June 2009. Had a late lunch 1.50, 2 adults, 1 child and 2 infants. All the characters Jo Jo, Handy Manny, June and Leo were excellent. My wife and I really enjoyed our experience at H&V, we had just arrived at HS and were feeling quite hungry (it was about 5 or 6pm), we had a look at the map to check what restaurant we could use our dining plan with and found H&V.
We were quite worried that it would be really busy but we went and asked for a table, we were told we'd have a 20 minute wait but we didn't mind, we were just about to sit down outside to wait when the cast member called us over to show us to our table inside. When we went in, it was more or less empty, there were 1 or 2 tables with fairly large groups of people but other than that it was empty.
There was a really nice, large selection of food that was a welcome change to some of the other fast food options we had been using up to that point, our server was extremely nice and friendly and his recommendation of pomegranate lemonade was excellent.
I would definitely recommend Hollywood and Vine to others. |

We had dinner in this restaurant as part of the Fantasmic package. It was very chaotic and the queues for the buffet were quite long. Food was good with fresh shrimp and tender beef. Puddings were lovely - great chocolate mousse. Our server was brilliant and kept bringing us refills for our drinks without us having to ask. My main criticism is that we had to eat at 4pm and the Fantasmic show was not until 9pm. We had to kill a lot of time between eating and the show beginning in an extremely busy park. Although Fantasmic was good, would not go to all the effort again. |

This place was horrific and really spoilt our day.
When we arrived there were people outside everywhere and harrassed waitresses shouting for people.
We were kept outside in the heat for 45 mins past our ADR time even though there were loads of empty tables stacked with dirty plates.
When we got in there was food all over the floor being trodden in and we saw our waitress twice, once for drinks that took 20 mins and then trying to pay the bill which took another 20 then we were asked for a 20% tip with the bill! Don't think so.
The food was average and luke warm - more on the floor than in the dishes and the service was simply appalling.
We nearly missed fantasmic because of this. Yuck - you would have to pay me to go back there |

I must admit to being slightly disappointed in this restaurant. We had the free ddp, which makes the whole process easy but it did feel like a conveyor belt and lacking Disney magic. Our server was obvioiusly under pressure and gave us very little attention and we were not able to get him to refill our drinks. We booked this meal as part of the Fantasmic Package at the time I booked it was the only place available. I am not a huge fan of the buffet type meals but this one did surprise me. There was plenty of choice and it was all fresh and hot. No sooner had one item run low and it was quickly refilled. Our server was good, quick to refill our drinks and friendly. My only gripe was we had it booked and even arriving on time we still had to sit for 30 minutes or so outside in the intense heat waiting to be called which was strange because inside there was a lot of empty seats. But apart from that i was happy. I would recommend and would return myself. |

DD loved the character breakfast. She met JoJo and Goliath, and Leo and June (Little Einsteins) and had such fun she hardly ate any food! The food was good though and there was plenty of choice. The CMs and characters would sing and dance to Playhouse Disney songs every 15 mins or so which was lovely as lots of kids joined in.
The Fantasmic buffet was also good: again lots of choice.
My only gripes are that it does feel a bit like a school canteen; it was rather noisy and the restaurant shares its restrooms with the 50s Prime Time Cafe next door so there can be queues! |

Booked Dinner here as part of the Fantasmic package.
Food quality fairly poor and the atmosphere like someone else has said was like a school canteen, our server was totally uninterested until we ordered a bottle of wine and then tried to push into another when we finished it (not at $45 a bottle). Mac and Cheese was like milky water with pasta and the beef (or whatever meat it) was could have soled my shoes.
We really regreted not booking one of the other restaurants that offer the Fantasmic package. But, the Fantasmic show itself took away some of the sting of feeling very let down by this place. |

We have eaten here lots of times and always enjoyed it. They used to do lunch here (not sure if they still do) and it was a character lunch with Minne, Goofy, Pluto and Chip 'n' Dale. They used to do a lovely little show while you were eating and get the children involved in dancing. Then they would come round to your tables and interact with the diners. This was always a good fun place to eat and the food varied and well presented. I haven't been since Christmas 2004 so it may have changed. We also did it as part of the Fantasmic dinner package and it was nowhere near as good as the lunchtime dining experience. I'm rating based on the lunch. |

Plenty for children to choose from, they even rustled up a plate of french fries for my youngest son (he's autistic so not very good with food!) and the waitress was sooooo lovely and helpful! The sweets are scrummy, there is also an ice-cream station for the kids, lots of toppings and candy! We loved this restuarant so much, we're going back again in 2006! |

We went this evening on a Star Wars / Jedi Mickey evening meal with tickets for fantasmic. The good was ok with good desserts like darth vader cup cakes etc. The characters had pictures taken with sons and the service was just ok as they were very busy. This took two full service dining credits and then 33 dollars tip/gratuity! Really expensive and not really worth the two credits plus money. We went to cinderellas royal table last week and this was much better value with the gratuity included in the two meals. I would not recommend this option as good value, |
