Regarding the lap bars etc when you're sharing vehicles, the lap bars just need to click into place- if they do that everyone riding is safe, and for the most part it's a pretty generous allowance...

I believe it's meant to work differently to the Fastpass system so you could probably be using Fastpass reservations while waiting. But yes otherwise people can just queue up for the other rides.
