We normally stay in a villa. We take some cord & clothes pegs to hang the washing in the garage to dry.

Just tie the cord across the garage door runners.

Can only presume that the system did not immediately register our car but then "caught up" & put the charges...

We arrived yesterday. The agent at Visitor Toll Pass said we didn't need to tell them at the car rental, but I mentioned it when we checked the car out of the garage. He didn't seem interested :(
