Yosemite is just so beautiful, not to say Death Valley isn't though.
The cabin was basic but it was a good option. We were opposite some tents and you could hear everything that was going on!

Those permits are pretty hard to get aren't they. The hike to Clouds Rest looks epic especially with those views, at least you've achieved that legend of a walk :)
