I would normally do this before but we can't choose our seats as the remaining ones in premium are blocked out so we will know at the airport the chances of being sat together and can decide then. ...

The agent I spoke to couldn't book our seats so thats why we didn't go ahead and the agent suggested we could do it on the day. I just forgot to ask the check in question so thought I would ask here...

I understand the issue of the seats, it's more the question about whether to check in online or not. For some reason I had it in my head that in order to upgrade at the airport, I shouldn't check in.
