Kayak, Momondo, Skyscanner will find you cheap flights but be wary of some of the companies listed. Travelup etc are very dodgy in terms of service. They are a good place to start though.

We have a decent amount of layover in both Chicago on the way out and JFK on the way back flying with American Airlines. Are the lounges worth the one time expense? What are people's experiences?
