Ok Let's Try Another One - August 2018 LIVE - Day 11

We wanted to have a lazy morning in preparation for the late night at mickeys not so scary Halloween party tonight.
We had breakfast in the room and then headed down to the contemporary marina to catch the boat launch over to fort wilderness and campground.

The boat takes about 10 minutes and the views back towards the contemporary are stunning.

We arrived at fort wilderness and walked over towards the ranch. Here you can do trail rides and pony rides, so we took dd on one of the little ponies called jester around the small kids walking trail. It was $8 for 1 lap or $12 for 2.
This was great fun and we even saw he pony she rode last time we were here, Hershey.

The cast members on the ranch do a half hour tour which we just caught the start of which was really interesting. We saw the calliope that Walt Disney bought for Disneyland and some of the horses that do various roles around Disney.
There's a little playground down by the boat dock which is in the shade of the trees so it doesn't get too hot to play on during the day.

We got the return launch back to the contemporary via wilderness lodge, the weather was starting to turn and the sky was looking very dark.

We went into Contempo cafe for some lunch.
I ordered the concourse Cuban; Slow-roasted pork loin, shaved ham, dill pickles, dijon mayonnaise and swiss cheese $11.49. This was pretty good but could have done with more filling.

DH had the Chicago Style Italian Beef Sub - shaved Italian beef, mozzarella, crusty baguette, and seasoned jus $12.99. I used some of the jus to dip mine in too, it was really tasty!

Dd had the turkey marinara with spaghetti,

this came with fries, grapes and a chocolate milk, this was $7.29.
Our total was $33.31 and we used our refillable mugs for drinks.

After lunch we'd planned to go back to our room and get ready for mickeys not so scary Halloween party and go over to magic kingdom early to do some fastpasses but by now the rain was hammering down and we didn't fancy getting wet so we hung out waiting for the rain to calm. Eventually about 4.45pm we decided to set off and get the monorail round to magic kingdom. We'd brought costumes to dress up for the party, DH was captain jack sparrow, dd was tinkerbelle and I was Alice in wonderland. We saw loads of people dressed up which all added to the atmosphere and fun. When we arrived it was still raining, we got issued with our wristbands at the enterance and we popped in to see tinkerbelle, she was great with DD!

We then Walked up the back lane behind the shops on Main Street where they have some cute Halloween statues. When we got the Tomorrowland terrace cast members were handing out trick or treat bags to people with wristbands.

We had a wander round through the park and noticed the wait time for the rides were very short, most only 5-10 minutes. We headed round to haunted mansion and then to pirates of the Caribbean.

After these we queued to meet jack sparrow, the queues for the characters were really long and after getting wet through with rain we weren't too fussed about posing for photographs.

We did a few trick or treat trails as we crossed the park, the philharmagic, Pinocchios village haus and mobsters inc laugh floor were particularly good ones as they had 2 stops on one path. We called into Gaston's tavern and got a cinnamon roll with extra icing to share, these are huge and really tasty! Cost $4.99 and the sugar would see us through for a couple of hours 😂.

In storybook circus there was a Disney junior dance party with doc mcstuffins and Timon, we spent quite a bit of time dancing and hoola hooping to the music 😂

It was nearing time for the parade so we walked down to the castle and found a spot with a decent view as it came round the corner from liberty square. Unfortunately due to the wet surface the headless horseman didn't come past. The parade was good, still not as good as spectromagic which it my all time favourite night parade.

After the parade we did abit more trick or treating and then found a spot on Main Street for hallowishes. The theme and music was pretty good but I can't decide whether I liked them any more than regular wishes or happily ever after, the perimeter fireworks at the end were pretty awesome though.
After the fireworks we were feeling quite hungry, some of the quick service options are unavailable during the Halloween parties so we ended up at cosmic rays again. DH had a cheese burger with fries

DD and I shared the kids chicken nugget meal. 4 nuggets - good job we weren't that hungry 😂

This comes with 2 sides and a drink so we got double fries and a coke. Mobile ordering took ages this time and we quickly realised that when the queues are short it's much quicker to order via the tills rather than the app.

fter we were fed we hit a couple more trick or treat stops on the way back over to the dance party. We popped into the seven dwarfs meet and the queue was about 30 minutes long at this point but we decided that we'd rather do the dance party.

Around 11.45pm we made our way to Main Street and got a couple of photopass photos on the way out. Dd had fallen asleep in her pram by this point so we walked back to bay lake tower and were pretty much straight to sleep.

We got quite the haul of candy between us. Dd is absolutely awestruck by it all. Not sure how it will all be coming home with us yet 😂
