I have the thin mk4. It has a sticker saying 110 to 240v. In kyoto go to Nara, it is awesome. Book a yukata for the day too.

Can recommend lingodeer japanese. The simple phrases worked well enough. Learn counting too - not just numbers (i.e. hitotsu, futatsu, mittsu for 1,2,3 , rather than ichi,ni,san.) It helps when ordering

Hyperdia app was the most invaluable app we used. Rent a wifi module. Get a suica card as kyoto isn't as jr pass friendly as tokyo. Suica works well for non jr in tokyo too.

Voicetra is an excellent live translation app that works very well.
