I did it in reverse this year. Flew into Orlando and out of Miami.

Couldn't get a seat out of MCO (Premium) - late school holidays.

The drive to Miami was dull but dead easy. Stayed a couple of nights in Miami to chill before flying home.

Downside was flying out of Gatwick and back to Heathrow. Dropped the family at Gatwick (staying overnight) and then drove to Heathrow and back to Gatwick via coach - now that WAS a nightmare!

I wonder if flying into Miami is better immigration wise? MCO isn't the best but had a stroke of luck (after being held on the plane for an hour after landing) by being ushered through some fast track lane with an envious packed hall... Grabbed the luggage and off to the MDE!
