We bought our lad a Medion Erazor Gaming laptop, i think we paid £1200 for it.
It weights a ton, 17.3 inch screen, but he was happy with it... until my eldest lad bought a gaming pc and now Jed wishes he had a pc as apparantly they are easier to upgrade...
