I would agree with a refund, particularly since you want to hold off rebooking anyway. The only thing that may tempt rebooking is if you got your current flights at a good price and they will move them without charge, as the rates for next year are through the roof on Virgin. But as mentioned above, cash in your pocket means you're free to find deals through other airlines anyway.
